Really enjoyed our stay here. It was quiet, peaceful and had some nice extra touches that we really enjoyed - the outdoor shower was amazing. Watching an outdoor movie was fun. Appreciated that everything was labeled and self explanatory with a guide booklet for help. Tips: Bring bug spray, lots of mosquitoes(part of camping).
We loved our stay in the airstream- it was so calming and beautiful. Mornings were filled with birdwatching and coffee, afternoon naps in the hammock, cooking on the grill, excellent trails to hike right out the backdoor and more. For us the highlight was the large, fenced in, wooded yard that meant our pup could prowl and play outside all day long. Thanks for having us!
What a wonderful property! Exactly as described! We were able to “turn it off” for a few days. Jeff and Lucy were super responsive when we contacted them. Loved hearing Jeff’s story about how the Santuary got started and about some of the animals they have. The outside shower was so relaxing and we loved sitting in front of the gas fire pit watching movies at night. The Airstream has the feeling of a “classic” camper with the upgrades for modern day. Our days were filled with napping, eating, and watching the dogs romp through the woods. 20/10. Would stay here again!!
The property was WELL maintained!!
I love that the area was fenced so I didn’t have to worry about my dog!
The sleeping was comfortable and the Airstream was well updated and so cutely decorated!
We LOVED the patio and the HUGE grill! They even had a chilled water jug for us!! We loved our evening watching family movies together too!!
To my own surprise was my FAVORITE feature was the AMAZING outdoor shower… I’ve never really done it and in the sun, it was glorious!!! The hosts are attentive, kind and GREAT people overall!! If we come back to this area we would 100% stay again!!!
I am not a camping type person but this property looked so nice I decided to give it a try. The Airstream was very nice, cute decor and everything you need plus some nice extras.
I thought the camper would be right on the river (my mistake) not a short walk away. I also thought we would be able to see at least some of the animals on the sanctuary but we did not see any. We did enjoy a hike a on the trails. The outside television setup and was a nice plus.
I usually never shower in an outdoor shower, although my husband does love them, but I did here and it was nice, plenty of hot water. My only suggestion here is to add a second divider curtain between the shower area and deck living area so that it creates a space outside of the shower to dry off and get dressed.
The first night we tried sleeping in the bunk beds to save us the trouble of setting up the double bed but the mattresses were thin and uncomfortable and the sleeping bag style sheets (?) were too confining, so the second night we set up the double bed and that was much better. We brought our dog and having our camping area fenced in was very handy. Overall, a very nice weekend away. I would highly recommend. If you are an experienced camper you will love this. If you are not I think you will also enjoy staying here as a novel vacation experience. Three days/two nights was the perfect stay for me.
Side note...we visited nearby Ninigret Park to see the giant trolls, very cool! Dog friendly.
