About this property

Welcome to the Roadrunner House! Ideally located 5 minutes from JTNP and town of JT.

Welcome to the Roadrunner House, part of Roadrunner Ranch. Ideally located on a private lot 5 minutes from the main (west) entrance of Joshua Tree National Park and the town of Joshua Tree. This is the most desired area in JT.

Our property is set in a beautiful desert landscape dotted with cholla cacti and Joshua trees. Spot roadrunners and jackrabbits from the outdoor cowboy tub and shaded patio dining area, and soak up the starry night sky from the hot tub!

Top priority is given to your privacy. Any communication/questions you need answered before or during your stay are easy by text, phone or email.

The home is in the quiet Joshua Tree Highlands, the most beautiful and convenient area in Joshua Tree. You'll be only 5 minutes from the national park entrance in one direction and 5 minutes from the town in the other direction. The home is one of the few in the area on a paved road for easy access, yet has plenty of privacy and is surrounded by stunning scenery.

The home is only one story, with one 8 inch step to get up to the porch from the driveway. This house is very friendly for those with trouble walking or in a wheelchair.

You will be renting a 3 bed/ 2 bath house. The property comfortably sleeps 6 people, with 2 queen beds and 1 full size bed, but I do allow up to 8 guests. If over 6 guests, I charge an additional $20/guest/night and will provide a comfortable twin foldable floor mattress and bedding for each additional guest over 6, up to 8 guests.

The house has a spacious open layout that is perfect for hanging out with family and friends. The cozy living room has a large window with a great view of the desert landscape, beautiful fireplace (not operational) built with local stone, and TV with Roku player. The connected dining area comfortably seats 6 with sliding glass doors that open to the back patio where there is another outdoor dining table that seats 8. The charming kitchen has lots of counter space for meal prep and is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances.

There is a cabin that sleeps 2 and is about 150 feet away from the main house. The cabin is typically rented separately, but reach out to me if you'd like to rent the cabin with the house. The cabin is totally private from the house and it's patio and porch are not visible from the house. The cabin also has a separate driveway, so if other guests are in the cabin, you
probably won't know they are there.

Bedrooms:
The house has two queen beds and one with a full bed – all with super comfortable memory foam mattresses and premium cotton bedding. The bedroom with the full size mattress also has the option of adding two foldable twin mattresses with bedding laid out. These foldable, surprisingly comfortable small floor mattresses are meant for if you have more than 6 guests or simply want a small bed or two if the 3 beds are not enough. I do charge $20/night for each additional mattress and/or each guest over 6. The primary bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with rain shower and the other shared bathroom has a marble-tiled bathtub/shower. Two of the bedrooms have large, built-in desks for working in privacy.

Outdoor Space:
From the living room and back bedroom, there is direct access to a covered outdoor patio. This is our favorite part of the house and where we often enjoy morning coffee, meals, and drinks while taking in the stunning valley and mountain views. There is a big Weber BBQ and outdoor dining table that comfortably seats 8. Beyond the patio, there is a gravel area with a path to the hot tub, hot outdoor shower, and lounge seating area. And beyond that, you can explore the property's beautiful desert terrain. At the front of the property, you'll find a couple hammocks for relaxing that are shaded by a large willow. Above the patio area are horseshoe pits.

EV Charging:
There is a J1772 (j-plug) level 2 charger for electric vehicles. This is the standard for all electric vehicles, other than Tesla. If you have a Tesla, please ensure you bring a j-plug adapter.

Please read the house rules and the listing descriptions carefully.

One mile from the main park entrance and two miles to the town of Joshua Tree, this cabin is easy to find and makes navigating the area a breeze.

I would not recommend renting my home if you do not have a car although you can get get an Uber/Lyft from Yucca Valley or Joshua Tree if needed.

We encourage longer stays, the following discounts will be applied for stays of longer than 2 days:
3-6 nights - 10% discount
7+ nights - 20% discount

Hot tub:
The hot tub is serviced on Tuesdays and Fridays between the hours of 11-3pm. The service person will only be by for about 10 minutes.

Pets:
We now allow dogs. Please adhere to the following rules:
- 1 pre-approved dog permitted per stay with additional $100 pet fee
- Must be house-broken/potty-trained
- May not be left on the property alone
- We suggest dogs to stay on-leash and supervised when in the yard for the protection of local wildlife and their own safety (dogs not used to the desert will get lots of painful spikes in their paws)
**The yard is not fenced

Security:
There are security cameras but they can only view the driveway and perimeter of the property. Cameras CANNOT view anywhere that guests will spend time – indoors, front porch, back patio, or hot tub area.

A little bit of everything

The owner has dialed in this space. From the hot tub to the cold plunge to a stocked spice pantry, numerous teas and coffee and snacks in case you haven’t shopped yet. Watch the sunrise over the mountains in the morning with a cup of Joshua Tree Coffee and end the day in the hot tub.Entry into the park is just up the road too!

Desert calling

Perfect location for access to JTNP, JT, Yucca Valley, and beyond. Staying at the house kept winning out over going anywhere though, other than to get groceries or food. The rating scale doesn't exist anymore when you feel like you're at a place submerged in the beauty of a landscape teaming with life and color and light. That’s when you know that you've made the right destination choice. The house is very comfortable and quiet. The skies are DARK and mesmerizing. We sat outside for hours drinking coffee (locally roasted JT Coffee that is provided, and was one of the MOST welcome surprises!) and watching roadrunners hunting around the perimeter of the property. Our stay was sublime. There was a 3+ hour rainbow our first morning there (see guestbook for photos), then it rained the entire day and night. It was glorious. If you've never smelled the Mojave desert after a rain, put it on your bucket list. The mix of sage, creosote, mesquite, and California juniper was intoxicating. Thank you for the experience. XO
