About this property

Quiet and Comfy cabin at Patoka Lake

Having moved to Southern Indiana 4 years ago, we discovered the Patoka Lake region and the Hoosier National Forrest in 2023. Our log cabin is in the heart of this fabulous place, located in the lush, wooded area of Grant Woods and a 2.5 mile drive to the Patoka Lake State Park, Patoka Lake Brewery and Winery.
You will stay in a cabin that has recently been renovated and is nestled on a hillside in the woods. Fishing, boating and hiking are within a few minutes drive. The cabin overlooks a seasonal stream and sleeps four people comfortably on queen size beds. All linens, pillows, mattresses and towels are provided.
For outdoor enjoyment, in addition to the full front porch, we have a partially covered deck on the back with a propane fire table and a convertible daybed couch. The uncovered area allows for use of the propane grill and stargazing. We also have added a new firepit.
The kitchen has a range, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, garbage disposal, tea kettle and drip coffee maker. Utensils, coffee, limited spices and stoneware are included.
Watching movies or games on the large screen smart TV can be comfortably done on a leather sectional with recliners and USB ports. An electric fireplace provides additional warmth if needed, although the mini-split provides ample heating and cooling. A quiet air purifier cleans the air of dust, pollen or cooking odors.
The one private bedroom is on the main floor across from the full bathroom with tub, washer and dryer. The two windows in the bedroom allow for viewing of the woods upon awakening. The other bed is in the loft that overlooks the main room. There is additional space there for other activities, including a desk for remote work, learning and playing games.
Laundry detergent, hand soap, and dish soap is provided throughout your stay. A starter pack of toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion are also provided. For longer stays, guests will need to supplement these amenities. A hair dryer, iron and ironing board are provided.
Parking is available in the driveway to the home. Smoking is allowed on the porch and deck but not in the cabin.
We provide a complimentary Indiana State Park pass for use during your stay, for free entrance into Patoka Lake State Park.
Quiet hours are 10pm-8am to maintain the charm of this quiet, wooded neighborhood.
The cabin is located on a private gravel road, only maintained by local residents. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended during winter months in case of ice and snow. There is a gas station with a store and two restaurants, offering lunch and dinner (March thru October) conveniently located across from the Winery. A mexican restaurant is open year round and serves breakfast as well is a short drive. It is 18 miles to French Lick which features a casino, golf courses, go karts, indoor water park, winery, and other restaurants. We are just 22 miles from Paoli Peaks ski resort and Marengo cave as well.
The area has limited cell service, but more than adequate free Wi-Fi is available at the cabin.

Perfect Cabin
My husband and I loved our stay. We wanted a cabin in the woods. The grounds were beautiful and the cabin and amenities clean and just perfect.

Just as expected
Property was clean and comfortable. Nancy was very helpful and made us feel welcomed. Being in March the local beach was closed but we were able to visit it for viewing. The beds seemed much too firm for our liking but in great shape...appeared new. Kitchen supplies were appropriate but I would have liked a saucepan or two. Our first trip via VRBO was a wonderful success and we won't hesitate to use it again. We are elderly and not quite as trusting of the techy stuff as young folks. Overall very pleased.

Awesome!
We've been to many cabins, this one was the best yet!!! We especially enjoyed the fire table. The weather was warmer and we were fortunate, it rained at night. I can't recommend this cabin enough!

A true gem
What an idyllic cabin! My best friend and I spent a relaxing, lovely weekend watching deer and listening to owls and wood thrushes. We checked out Marengo Cave and the state park, both of which were terrific. THE best part by far, though, was the cabin itself. It's so clean the top of the ceiling fan sparkles. And the host has thought of absolutely everything, down to kindling and wood by the fire and spare toiletries in the bathroom. It's simply perfection. My friend and I are already talking about heading back next summer.

Clean, Quiet, Well Stocked
The cabin was exactly as described in the description. It was quiet and well stocked with everything we needed. Quiet location in a wooded area, but about 5 minutes to town where there are a couple of restaurants and a brewery that were good to visit. Also less then half hour drive to French Lick.

Patoka cabin
This cabin was lovely. Upon arrival we had a small gift waiting for us and a small sign saying welcome with our names and she even included our dog. The cleanliness was exceptional, as was the communication with the host. She even checked in on us while bad storms were in the area. We had everything we needed plus some and really found the place relaxing. While setting out on the back porch we got to watch an owl watch us and saw some deer. We hope to one day be able to stay here again.

Terrific Getaway
Great cabin to stay while celebrating our 30th anniversary. Nancy was so helpful and had personalized greeting waiting for us. That was most unexpected and made us feel extra special. This was very close to Patoka Lake and where we spent our days. Definitely a positive experience all around.

Great Cabin, clean and cozy
Cabin was well taken care of and in excellent condition. Very clean, and provided all that is needed. Located close to area attractions. Our stay was in the winter, so I can imagine there is even more to do during the warmer months. Communication with owner was great from booking until check-out.
