Cabins are the best run accommodation we have stayed in. The Milligan’s are very thoughtful with supplying their guests with everything you would in your own home. They made it very easy to reach if any questions. We would highly recommend if you are staying in the area.
This cottage is new, modern and lovely. Very comfortable with a front porch view of the bay and pond next door where the whooping cranes, spoonbills, sandhills and more congregate. Just a delight! We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying here again.
We enjoyed how peaceful and relaxing our long weekend getaway was. Although there was a little hiccup with the WiFi connection, Paula was quick to help remedy it. We especially enjoyed listening to the bay breeze, the sunrises, and star gazing. I am glad we brought our daughter’s telescope. We got to see a few shooting stars!
Paula’s place is well equipped and suited our family. We’d love to come back.
This is the PERFECT place to stay if you’re coming to see the cranes and other beautiful birds. The owner was responsive and nice. Lord of amenities to make our short stay fun.
These little tiny houses are just precious.
The owner was kind and easy to get in contact with. We have family a couple streets over, and it was SO convenient.
You can tell they’re brand new, and they’re equipped with all kinds of amenities including both kinds of coffee makers and even a washer dryer combo.
I’m giving it a 4 star rating though for two main reasons. First, the hot water heater was not turned on when we arrived. And as I said earlier we were visiting with family and didn’t get to the property until after 8pm and there was no hot water. In their defense that was one of the first things listed in their visitor binder and we finally found the switch (which was bright red but hidden behind the paper towel holder and completely hidden from view) but reading through that thing wasn’t our first priority coming in late at night with fussy, exhausted, crying 2 and 4 year old children who were ready for baths and bed.
And secondly, the pillow situation. There were no pillows included for the pull-out couch bed, only sheets. And the pillows that were in the bedroom were hardly any thicker than the comforter on the bed, and as a result, miserable to sleep on. Great pillows and a comfy memory foam mattress topper in a rental property would go such a long way for guests who rent rental properties frequently and know the difference.
All in all though - - - totally worth it and we would rent again!

About the host
Hosted by Melissa Milligan
My husband and I moved from the Texas Hill Country in January of 2023. We love living on the coast with daily opportunities to enjoy fishing or boating or watching the great diversity of birds and other wildlife in the area. The sunrises and sunsets, the peaceful pasture around our property, and the warm summer breezes are amazing.
Why they chose this property
It was love at first sight when we drove into our neighborhood! Our property is across the bridge from Rockport in the community of Lamar. We are 10 minutes from everything needed, but away from all the traffic and noise. You really can't beat our location, just a 5-minute walk from St. Charles Bay where cows graze with a waterfront view.
What makes this property unique
We love our unobstructed water views, pasture land all around, oak trees and palm trees sharing space and providing beautiful sea breeze sounds. Sightings of Whooping Cranes and other coastal birds all day long will tempt any avid bird watcher or nature photographer.
