About this property

New Large House in Tuscany Countryside, Beautiful Hilltop View, Perfect Location

Our house is the perfect place for a group to gather and relax in the heart of Tuscany. With spacious and comfortable rooms and a location that provides easy access to all of Tuscany's best attractions, you will have everything you need for an unforgettable trip.

Unlike many old Italian homes which can be small and cramped, our newly built house was designed for comfort with a large group in mind. Piano Giorno (the 'day' floor), is one great room consisting of the living area, dining room and kitchen. The extra large french doors reveal beautiful views and allow you to enjoy the Tuscan country side without leaving the house. It makes the perfect setting for a group to gather, cook, dine, and talk all while enjoying the beauty of Tuscany.

The location of the houses provides a great staging point to see the best of what Tuscany has to offer. The village is located centrally to some of the best sites in Tuscany. Florence (34 miles), Pisa (19 miles), Lucca (20 miles), San Gimignano (31 miles), Volterra (28 miles), the beach at Viareggio (39 miles) and the Chianti wine region (48 miles) all can be reached in under an hour by car.

Getting to the Property: We recommend that people rent a car while staying with us to see the most of Tuscany. Our place is easily accessible from both the Pisa (30 mins) and Florence (45 mins) airport. However you can also make it work with no car. You can arrive at the nearby train station of San Romano or Pontedera and take a taxi or bus 10 mins to our place.

In addition to the comfortable interior, the house has 3 balconies and a patio area for enjoyment of the outdoors. It is decorated in traditional Tuscan style but with all of the modern amenities including great WiFi service.

The house is a newly built attached home, completed in 2008. The house is part of a new housing development in the village. There are some houses in the development the are not yet complete however construction is currently on hold. The house sits on the northern edge of the development on a hill with an unobstructed view of farmland in the Arno river valley.

Amazing stay at this beautiful villa
We had a wonderful stay at Max and John’s villa. It was beautiful, clean, and exactly as advertised. Max provided us with plenty of information for places to eat locally as well as places to visit. The local pizza was delicious and the view from the villa can not be beat. I will recommend this place to anyone visiting the Tuscany area.

Great location, lovely home.
The location was central to everywhere we wanted to visit. The house was perfect for our family. Very clean and comfortable. The views were amazing. The local people were extremely friendly and helpful. We would love to go again. We only had one issue and that was that the lower level never warmed up. It was a bit chilly and our daughter and her two young children were on that level.

Dear Max, We are so grateful to you for sharing your villa and being able to explore the surroundings. Our day trips - amazing. Returning to the villa to recharge & enjoy time together with our friends - memorable. Plus visiting with owners of the local pizzeria gave a real slice of life in Tuscany. Great rental home in Tuscany
My husband and I spent 10 nights in the villa with a group of friends. It was wonderful in every aspect – plenty of room, very clean, nicely furnished, a convenient location, and lovely views. It truly felt like a home when we returned from our daily outings. We had the best combination of beautiful countryside living and easy access to the highway for day trips to Pisa, Lucca, the coast. It was a short drive to the train stations and grocery stores. We will definitely recommend the villa to friends travelling in the area.

Unbelievable great villa centrally located
This villa was perfect for my group of 10. It was centrally located in the middle of Tuscany. It was well equipped with hair dryers, coffe pots, etc. Clean with tons of sheets ,blankets, etc. Best part was Laura who came in and cooked for all 10 of us several times during our 10 day stay. We were in the middle of wine country away from the Florence crowds. We are definitely coming back. Jack Mcwalter Boca Raton, fl.

Great house in real Tuscany
This is a very large house in a suburb of Pisa near the Florence border. About 30 minutes from central Pisa and 45 minutes from central Florence. Very secluded and quiet area yet with easy and convenient access to the FI-PI-LI highway. This is the real Tuscany, and in the middle of the wine country, with many wineries just a short and very scenic drive away. About 30 minutes from the very scenic town of San Gimigniano. The house specifies 5 bedrooms but it seems like even more than that. There's even a ground level with 3+ unfinished rooms for the potential of even more rooms. Every room has ample space, and the rooms are very tastefully furnished with local artisan furniture. This house combines the best of both worlds. The comfort of a home with the luxury of quality furnishings and modern conveniences. The location in a quiet suburb yet with easy access to all that Tuscany has to offer.

A Perfect Rental Home!
My wife and I traveled to Europe for the first time in November 2014. The first leg of our trip involved a one-week stay in Italy. At the recommendation of our daughter we stayed at this rental home. A few years ago our daughter vacationed in Italy and stayed at this rental home. When she returned to California she had nothing but rave reviews of her stay. My wife and I had a similar experience during our stay. Booking our stay was so easy. The co-owner, John, was very friendly and he was able to answer all of our questions in a very timely manner. When my wife and I first arrived at the rental home we were blown away at the spacious rooms, modern appliances/décor, and gorgeous views of the Italian countryside. This was definitely our home away from home. We were so relaxed and comfortable during our stay. The location of this rental home is perfect as it is very near the train station. Thus, traveling to and from surrounding cities is a breeze. My wife and I are in the process of planning another trip to Italy and we will definitely be staying at this rental home again!

VistaItaly – so much potential
We recently rented VistaItaly for a family vacation that included a total of 8 people. It really is a beautiful home, but there are a few issues which make it difficult to enjoy. The main issue was the noise at night. Our family slept downstairs in the 2 bedrooms. There are local dogs that bark ALL NIGHT LONG, ear plugs help, but the noise is constant and insistent. The noise was bad for my brothers and mom who slept in the 3 bedrooms upstairs, but they closed the doors and were able to get used to the noise after a couple of nights. It was warm during our stay and many of the screens are difficult to operate, some seemed broken and we mistakenly left them open, don’t do this, there are a lot of mosquitoes in the area – many of us had lots of bites. On the positive side, Max was very responsive to questions and inquiries prior to the trip. The house is situated nicely for travel to much of the region. Max did a good job of setting up a website that goes over everything you will need for your stay; including stores and restaurants close by as well as sites to visit that are close to the house. Based on the review of the website, we took an enjoyable visit to the Piaggio museum which goes over the history of the Vespa scooters.

Definitely my new Home away from home
With the sudden increase in options when traveling abroad, thanks to the growing number of rental property apps, finding a place to stay can be daunting. I am happy to say that in my many (hopeful) future travels to Italy, I have found the place that I will call home. The photos tell no lies, the location is perfect, and the hosts are as gracious as they come. For me, the draw of renting from individuals vs. staying at hotels is that personal touch and the ability to really feel as though you live where you are staying. When done right, you really get to experience the “insiders” life, which to me is the only way to travel. Vista Italy hit right on the mark for all of the above. Home: This home had all the amenities you need, or ever want for that matter, and made for the most smooth sailing stay. The house is stunning with spectacular views (I was finally able to experience a Tuscan sunset off of all of the many balconies... WOW) and the place was spotless. Beautifully furnished with room to spare. I appreciated the little stickers that Max had around the house so that we were never left wondering how things worked (ie the dishwasher, washer, lights etc) SO very thorough. Location: We were just close enough to the major cities of Florence, Pisa, and Lucca yet just far enough away to appreciate the quaint towns of Volterra and San Gimignano among a few others. The house info packet gave us more than enough options for things to do and places to go eat, it was just like having our own hotel concierge. The one problem: SO much to do and so little time! Hosts: I can't say enough about our host Max, who from the get-go exhibited sincere intentions on making sure we all had a pleasant stay. He was very responsive and it is obvious that he takes great pride in his property which I believe is reflected in how well he takes care of his guests. I will definitely be recommending this place to all of my friends and family who ever plan on passing through Tuscany. A definite trip for the books. Thank you Vista Italy and the Conservas! Till next time!

Beautiful Home - First Rate Accomodations!
My group of 6 stayed here for a week, in May. The home is really stunning and first rate. It was beautifully decorated and has everything you can possibly need. Lots and lots of space, if you are traveling with a larger group. Amazing views from the patio, off of the main living room. We had zero issues with this rental and would definitely stay here again. The only thing I would change is our choice of transportation. We elected to not rent a car, but instead use the local taxi, bus and train service. That worked, but it did add considerable time to our day trips. So next time, we will rent a car. Also - one thing to keep in mind is that this rental is located in a small town. It's extremely charming, but your options for eating out are limited. Not a problem if you use the wonderful kitchen and bring along your favorite chef!

Tuscan Anniversary Trip Maximized by this Home!
This is a property that we want to return to! We had 3 couples plus and there was more than ample room and comfort for us all in every aspect. It is a bright, beautiful and wonderfully appointed home. All furnishings have been considered; comfortable furniture, great kitchen, plenty of towels, blankets (and the sort you would want in your own home). Bathrooms are fresh and modern, with plenty of hot water and pressure. This location provided a great central location for day trips to Florence, Tuscan oil and wine tasting, Cinque Terre, Volterra, San Gimignano and more. Access to train and bus was close. Having a car was a definite plus and there is plenty of off street parking. The local town has a great pizzeria. We had relaxing and wonderful time at this home. We enjoyed cooking in the evenings, drinking local wines and watching the autumn sunsets next to an impressivlely efficient wood stove. We have been to a number of rental properties and this one is a definite favorite.

Beautifully furnished villa, gorgeous view
When we arrived and opened the front door we were so impressed with the ambiance and warmth of the great room with the gorgeous large floor tile and the country style furniture. The view from the balcony through the french doors was beautiful. The owners hadn't forgotten a thing to make our stay enjoyable. The kitchen was lovely and well equipped complete with dishwasher. We had plenty of seating for meals. There were laundry facilities and a media room with a vast assortment of dvds. Several of the bedrooms had balconies with lovely views. The bathrooms were equipped with everything we needed. They had written directions for everything inside the villa. There were umbrellas, maps and travel books. They thought of everything and to top it off, it is a convenient location, close to the rail station and many charming places in Tuscany.

Very nice villa
This is a very nice place to stay. Off the beaten path, beautiful views, very clean house. Centrally located to many sites in Italy, our family used it as a springboard to access many of the towns nearby. John went out of his way to make sure we would get the most out of our trip, and followed up promptly if we had any questions. Would recommend this to anyone wanting to spend time in a central location and see Italy by car.

A Travel Agent’s Review of Tuscany
Allow me to begin by saying that I have been in the travel industry for 28 years and have lived abroad for 4.5 years from 1993 to 1997. We planned this trip to celebrate my husband and my 35th wedding anniversary and traveled with my two sisters-in-laws and their husbands celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. This was a special occasion for all of us and we wanted it to be special. The planning began a year ago with looking for a villa in Tuscany to rent that was reasonable and could accommodate three couples with bedrooms with queen beds and at least two bathrooms. Many villas only offered two full beds and the third bedroom with twin beds. We also wanted a central location to explore Tuscany and did not plan on renting a car due to the expense of a van and none of us wanting to drive on the narrow and winding roads. I discovered Max and John’s villa in Castel del Bosco and emailed Max for further information. Max was extremely prompt in responding to my questions and this would continue to be the case in all future correspondences. After searching for a while for a property to fulfill our group’s wishes, we settled on this villa. The pictures of the villa provided on the internet are true to what you will find when you arrive. The home is clean, spacious and you will find that Max has thought of every detail. Everything is labelled in English and no needs are overlooked down to a hair straightener, bathrobes, plug adapters, movie DVDs in English and Italian(although we think he should have one of the Godfather), cookbooks and guidebooks. With airline luggage weight restrictions, having a washer/dryer at our disposal made packing much less of a challenge. This villa could easily accommodate a much larger group and I would love to return someday with my sons and their families. The views from the “great room” balcony were spectacular of the Tuscan countryside and the far to the east town of Lucca. We give Max an A+ for his beautiful home.

Spacious Tuscan Home
I went on a trip to Tuscany with my fiance and 2 other friends. We rented a couple of rooms from Max. This was a great and beautiful place to use as a home place for exploring the nearby Tuscan cities like Pisa, Cinque Terre and Florence, which we drove to using a rental car. The place was well decorated and equipped and had a great view of the nearby wineries and hills. There were some charming and nearby restaurants that served some awesome pizza. Max and his dad Fabrizio, who owns the house next door, were super nice and hosted a dinner for all of their guests. We had a wonderful time meeting couples from around the world. Overall, this was a great place to stay and we hope to go back again.

Enormement recomanable!! Gràcies Max

About the host

Hosted by Max & John

Host profile image
This property is owned by two cousins Max and John. We are happy to answer any questions you have. We are looking forward to meeting you and welcoming you into our home!

Why they chose this property

Castel Del Bosco is the village in which my father (Fabrizio) grew up. I, along with my cousin, decided to purchase the house here to keep a connection to Italy. This house was constructed in 2007 and we have been the only owners. We use the house primarily for getting together with our families and friends. We also rent the place sparingly to guests throughout the year. We built this house because we wanted a place that we could comfortably allow for large group gathering. Most traditional Italian homes have small, narrow rooms which can feel claustrophobic when more than a few people are inside. Our home has a wide open floor plan and can easily accommodate groups over 10. The house's close proximity to the highway, train station, and to the Pisa airport was also another major factor for choosing this particular place. One can easily get to and from the house as they travel around the countryside and beyond.

What makes this property unique

Our home resides in the historic Tuscan village of Castel Del Bosco a part of Montopoli in Val d'Arno in the Province of Pisa. Within walking distance there is an amazing local pizza parlor as well as a small convenience store for the bare necessities and a bus stop. In the neighboring town, you can take a short drive or bus ride, to a full supermarket (10 mins) and bank (5 mins). There is also a major train stop within a 15 min drive in the neighboring town of Pontedera. From this station you have direct access to Florence and Pisa central stations, no switching of trains needed. The location of the house provides a great staging point to see the best of what Tuscany has to offer.
