Beautiful Property

This home couldn't have worked out any better for our group. The size and bedroom layout was perfect for 8 guys on a golf trip. And the view was amazing. We will definitely book again!

Spacious home with great views

The home has beautiful views in is secluded although it is quite a trip up,a winding road. The kitchen was very well stocked and the beds were very comfortable. The negatives were that there was no internet access. The refrigerator downstairs was not cooling. Repairs were promised but never made. Some maintenance needs to be done to the railing out back that has a hole in it where wasps would enter but that is nothing compared to the overall house comfort.

Family Vaca 2024

First, FYI- the railing on the back porch is very loose. We were taking a family photo on the left hand side lined up where the straight across section makes a bend and I slightly to get my son in front of me and the railing moved and made a cracking sound. VERY DANGEROUS AND WILL NEED ATTENTION BEFORE YOU RENT!! **MAIN FLOOR TOILET in laundry area clogged since Thursday night. Overall wonderful stay. The location is beautiful and loved the paved road up to the house!! The house had everything we needed and the kitchen was stocked with everything. Had to hunt sometimes but eventually found it. The kids enjoyed the game room very much!! Very cool house.

Great location, beautiful view

This house is so comfortable, it is our home away from home. We have stayed here three years now and look forward to a forth year. The house is roomy and nicely laid out, and so convenient to the mountains, restaurants and everything in between. There are a few items that need updating, such as the Wi-Fi, which is way too slow, and the shower door on the upstairs bath needs repair, it falls off the rack. Those are minor issues with everything the house offers. Thanks for a great stay!

Well thought out. Great view. Clean and spacious.

Bad first and its a short list : Carpet down stairs showing lots of stains, as a white carpet does. Wifi is basically non existent, i couldnt even send or receive emails. Wasnt a big deal but if you require it this place wont work. Comforters are nice but not very clean , one had quite a few stains. Not very private as neighbors are close and road is very close and on 3 sides. No actual firepit, no hot tub. Honestly the only thing that was an issue for me was the comforter so we didnt use them. Other bedding was comfy and clean . The good: lots of room to spread out. 3 levels of sleeping space. Kids room on lower level is great and has 4 beds. 2 master suites on main level, big bathroom space and closet space. 4th br on upper level by itself with a good view from loft. Includes good sized bathroom and a closet in a closet. Linens and beds are all comfy and in good shape minus comforters. Bathrooms are all clean updated and in good working order. Kitchen is a little small but works well and has all you need. Appliances all in good shape and clean. Plenty of firewood for the fireplace upstairs which was nice and a gas starter that needs to be repaired but for now works. Grill isnt anything to get excited about, but had propane.nice deck with a killer view day and night. Pool table , darts, checkers, partial kitchen and bar on lower level . Easy to get to neighborhood and though the house is up a winding steep road almost at the top of mountain, also easy to get to house. Ice or snow may be a different story...very cozy perfect for a quiet long weekend by the fire eating ,drinking and sleeping in. Thanks!

Home needs deep cleaning and fixes for maintenance issues

Highly disappointed ! property needs deep cleaning; cobwebs on lamps, dust under furniture, jacuzzi not clean, some lights out , handrail not attached and tv not working properly. I reported tv to rental office and was told someone would not be available this past Monday (Oct 3); then it was the person was sick. I asked if anyone else could come and the answer was “this is the person we use, sorry”. I had reserved this property for Oct 2-7, on Wednesday morning I had had enough and we left the property and came home to Apex,NC. The property could be very nice for families, but it really needs some attention. This has made me Leary of booking anything else thru Vrbo as I lost money snd did not have a pleasant time in the mountains.

Great House

We enjoyed our stay at the Sleepy Baer Lodge very much. The house is beautiful and comfortable. Took trips to Asheville, Gatlinburg and Pidgeon Forge. Unfortunately, snow didn't come until our last day and then we were worried that we wouldn't get off the mountain but that was not a problem. We didn't see the Crew but the road was drivable pretty soon and we had nothing to worry about. Thank you for a wonderful trip and stay.

Enjoyed our stay at Sleepy Bear. House needs a little TLC, faucet in kitchen has a bad drip, bad door knob needs fixed & the door knob going into the garage needs repaired. Internet works in living room, but really slow, but you are in the mountains.

Great for gathering of old friends

Sleepy Bear Lodge was perfect for our college mini-reunion. The house was as advertised and the rental representatives were great about answering questions, prep, check-in, and handling issues once we arrived. A great place to unplug for a week, whether we were enjoying the house or heading out into the mountains for the day. It's worth getting up early to see dawn break from the deck!

Beautiful Mountain View

My family met here for a week from different parts of the country. The house was well appointed and we had room for all of us. I would say that the property could use a little TLC. My biggest issue was that when I was searching for a home to rent I had put in a filter of handicap accessible and this property was included however it is not ADA. My grandson has CP and is In a wheelchair. We were able to have him in the lowers level but we had to carry him up and down stairs and the wheelchair which was not great. Luckily he was not an adult in a wheelchair. Overall though it was a great stay. The most beautiful view of the Smokies we could ask for morning, noon or night.

About the host

We are from Medina, Ohio and Tampa ,Florida and we came to Maggie Valley for family reunions and to get away from the heat in the summer. We chose Sleepy Bear because it rarely gets above 80 degrees in the summer here and we feel incredibly relaxed in a comfortable 'bearsy, woodsy , moosey ' setting. We love to share our home with others because we know they will have an unforgettable experience.

Why they chose this property

Gated secure, secluded community in a heavily wooded area

What makes this property unique

One of the best views on the mountain towards Smoky Mountain National Park. Near top of mountain for convenient access to both quaint Waynesville (down south side of mountain) and countryish Maggie Valley (down north side) . Gently sloped homesite provides safety for kids, pets. close to Laurel Ridge and Maggie Valley Country Clubs (5 min).
