This tastefully restored home is located in the heart of Mount Vernon and is centrally located to MVNU and the downtown area. The home dates to the early 1900s and features dark wood trim, high ceilings, and a large dining room. Up to 8 guests can sleep comfortably in the four bedrooms, all of which are cooled and heated by central air.
Step back in time as you enter across the relaxing, open front porch. The grand dining room can be closed off from the living room with the original pocket doors. In the kitchen, guests will find a well-stocked area with new refrigerator, oven and cooktop, microwave oven, Keurig coffee maker, and dishwasher. A laundry room is just off the kitchen with an available washer and dryer. One of our favorite rooms is the ski room. We've used antique ski poles as curtain rods and over the queen bed are a pair of wooden skis that were discovered in this home when we bought it. Come stay with us in the winter and great skiing and tubing at Snow Trails is about 30 minutes away.
Your home away from home sits just south of downtown Mount Vernon and is close to the Kokosing Gap biking and jogging trail. This picturesque trail runs along a former railroad track and gives great views of the Kokosing River, beautiful Ariel Foundation Park, and the nearby villages of Gambier and Howard. The Riley House is convenient to major businesses as well as the area's schools of higher education -- Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Kenyon College, and Central Ohio Technical College.
If golf is your thing, hit the links at Irish Hills, Chapel Hill, Vernon View, or Apple Valley golf courses. Mohican State Park is less than a 30-minute drive from The Riley House. There you can hike, fish, canoe, and play at mini golf, challenge yourself on a ropes course, and race go karts.
We know you will enjoy your visit to Mount Vernon with a stay at The Riley House. We look forward to hosting you!
