About this property

Avery Dome Cabin is a private three-story geodesic nestled in 5-acres of forest.

The Avery Dome Cabin is a fully restored three-story geodesic dome nestled in 5-acres of lush forest bordering the Stanislaus National Forest and the Arnold Rim trail. With ~2,700 sqft. of indoor space, there is room for everyone, including well-behaved dogs (2 max). Enjoy the views on our 360-degree 1,200 sqft. second-story deck. Perfect for a romantic getaway for two upstairs in the California King master loft, or bring the crew and access the four beds and bonus room downstairs. Our cabin can sleep up to 8 with plenty of seating inside and out.

We are 10 minutes from Murphy’s, which has many wineries and restaurants. Arnold is 5 minutes away, and you will find White Pines Lake for beach time, paddleboarding, and fishing. Big Trees State Park is 12 minutes away, where you can stroll through groves of Giant Sequoias. Past Big Trees is Bear Valley Ski Lodge ~40 minutes, depending on the weather.

Main Floor
 Large dome living room with a new giant picture window that brings the forest inside. Cozy wood stove, large couch, 65” smart TV, Blu-ray, and record player that sounds like a concert in the dome. Newly remodeled half bath and large kitchen and dining area.
 Kitchen: Fridge, stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, bean grinder, microwave, pots & pans, serving platters, toaster, bread machine, rice maker, Kitchen Aid, immersion blender, waffle maker, dishware/flatware, wine and cocktail glasses, baking basics, blender, paper plate holders, trash bags/paper towels

Master Loft
 Third-floor retreat with a new soft California King bed and a leather futon. Newly remodeled full bathroom with soaking tub and separate shower. Step into the triangle bubble window for tree-top views. Owner's closet.

Ground Floor
 Head downstairs to the bonus room with a puzzle/card table, a large couch with a 65" smart TV, Blu-ray, and many games and movies. Part of the dome is built into the mountain and stays cool in the summer, with heaters in every room for the winter. Remodeled full bathroom with walk-in rain shower. The Queen room has a couch and closet. The large sleeping room has 1 queen, 1 full, and 1 twin and an armoire. Extra towels and supplies are located in the hall cabinet.

Outside
 In the summer, we have outdoor furniture, a BBQ, and a pizza oven. There is lots of parking and room to play. Be sure to remove all your food and snacks from the car to avoid attracting bears. The property has trails, but for a longer hike, pack some water and catch the Arnold Rim Trail for beautiful views.

Fantastic!
We had a great stay here (3 couples). The dome house is even better than the pics. The host is super responsive and accommodating. Very clean, well stocked kitchen, extra amenities throughout, even a turntable with a great selection of record albums. Very comfy beds, nice towels & linens. We loved the wrap around deck with lots of seating areas, the setting among the trees, the proximity to Murphys. It was the perfect place for our Labor Day weekend getaway with friends. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic Getaway Spot
Our experience at the dome and working with Adam has been the best home rental experience to date. The property was clean, the kitchen had any and everything we needed, and the location was perfect for quick access to bear valley for playing in the snow. It rained our entire stay, and my new favorite hobby is warm beverages, the coziness of the dome and watching the rain fall from all the views. We were able to catch a break in between storms, utilized the fire pit and roasted marshmallows. Can't wait to make summer plans here! Thank you, Adam for sharing your slice of heaven.

Perfect Retreat
If you’re looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the day to day grind, this is the perfect place to reset and rejuvenate. You’re secluded enough away to enjoy the privacy of the trees but close enough if you need essentials. The views are just breath taking. The place is also fantastic where we could sit around together as family in so many rooms and you don’t feel like you’re on top of each other. The host is wonderful and we definitely would stay here again!

Great Winter Adventure
We had a great time in the Avery Dome Cabin, the inside of the cabin is beautiful and well maintained. My kids enjoyed both the unique dome shape and the room with all the beds! Plus there was games and puzzles to keep them entertained. We easily drove up to Bear Valley and Calaveras Big Trees Park everyday we were there. Check-in and communication with the host was easy, we will be coming back for sure.

I am a college professor who loves hiking and fishing. Our family has been visiting Murphys and Arnold for the last 10 years and are thrilled to have our own place.

Why they chose this property

I love the Avery Dome Cabin because it is not in a neighborhood but instead in a forest next to the Stanislaus National Forest. Though it is private and serene, it is also 5 minutes to Arnold's grocery store for milk and 10 minutes to Murphys for cool shops and great food. We are members of Brice Station Winery, where they have about 10 concerts each summer. Good wine, good music, and great people.

What makes this property unique

The Dome is a cool space with many angles. When you play the record player, it sounds like a concert. We have new windows that add to the quiet, tranquil evenings. Another thing I love about the cabin is the many different spaces you can hang out in. For example, the huge wraparound deck has three different sitting areas. The master loft is cozy, and the bonus room downstairs is great for game night. Walking around the property and seeing a rich forest ecosystem is easy. We always add new features and think of new ways to make this space more fun.
