About this property

Cabin #3 - Riverfront w/ Gas Fireplace and more!

Cabin #3 is a cozy cabin with queen bed downstairs, and 2 twin beds with a playroom upstairs! Sit out on the deck and watch the fish and elk walk by! This unit has 3 beds and can sleep up to 4 comfortably. New gas log fireplace and HVAC system along with wifi and YoutubeTV to keep you and your party entertained.

* Up to 2 pets are welcome at this unit for a fee of $35.

Each of our log cabins has a full front porch just a few feet away from the Oconaluftee River, which offers some of the best trout fishing around. This river is stocked with brown and rainbow trout. Fly fishermen can enjoy the “catch and release” waters with trophy sized fish just minutes away. The cabins line the Oconaluftee River with a view across the river that is forest land with no development. The cabins are separated by full deck areas with privacy fencing in between. This cabin features a large deck with chairs and a swing and great view of the slow moving river. You can see the fish below in these clear waters, and reach it with careful climb down! A small charcoal grill is located in front of the cabin. This river also provides a great place for rafting, tubing, and swimming. This cabin features an open living/kitchen/dining space downstairs along with a primary queen bedroom and ensuite bathroom with a tub/shower. The upstairs has a split/open floorplan with 2 twin beds on one side and a children's play area with games, television, foosball table and more on the other side. These rooms have a ceiling fan and utilize a half-bathroom between them.

We have 6 total hand-built log cabins that are each stocked with kitchen supplies, new couches and bedding, and basic shower/restroom goods. High-speed internet and streaming televisions in the living room as well as main bedroom make sure you don't miss a beat. New HVAC systems and gas fireplace create comfort for all, with automatic settings so you don't have to worry about how to set up. The back of the cabins are just off of Big Cove Road, which has low to moderate traffic and sidewalks into town, food and shopping. We believe you'll find the setting peaceful and enjoyable.

Amazing Stay

The cabin was easy to find, and we checked in without an issue. It's very simple, clean, cozy, and convenient with all the essentials provided —exactly what we were looking for. I was traveling with a kid, and he lost one of his toys, so to help him find it my husband and I had to look under the furniture - exceptionally clean even there. The river running under the windows, the mountains, and the nearby park with a bamboo grove - are very good for nature lovers, while local restaurants and the casino are perfect for those who want some fun. I loved that there were six cabins rented out by the same owner standing side by side. They are not very big and sleep three or four people, but if you want to come with a larger group, renting two cabins and spending time together on the large back porch while still having some privacy at night is easy. All three of us enjoyed our stay. It wasn't easy to drag our kid out when the check-out time came - he wanted to stay longer. I would love to come again for a peaceful weekend with my family or for an adventurous one with some friends.

Cute Cabin in a Perfect Location

Our only disappointment was not being able to stay longer! The cabin is exactly how it’s described in the listing. The location is approximately 5 minutes drive to the casino. It’s within walking distance of shops, food and an outfitter. Smokey Mt visitors center is less than a 4 min drive (great place to see elk in the evening). There are many trails to hike in and around the cabin. Approximately 5 min walk to a “beach” area on the river - perfect place to take kids and doggies. There is a rope swing that allows kids and adults to swinging out and safely drop in the cold river waters. I can’t say enough good things about the cabin and location.

Weekend getaway

My family and I came for a weekend getaway. Upon arrival the cabin was clean and cozy. My two kids loved the loft area I hardly saw them while we were in the cabin. The back deck was very spacious and enjoyed the swing while enjoying the river view. The check in and out process was very convenient and they even moved checkout time back a few hours due to loss of power in the area. We will be returning for future trips.

Bluebird Cabins is owned and operated by Chris & Cheri McCoy. As a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Chris was born and raised in these mountains on the Cherokee Indian Reservation. Chris grew up swimming and fishing in these rivers and hiking these trails. We have a passion for sharing the local culture, nature and relaxing atmosphere!

We purchased these cabins (formerly known as Ol' Smoky Log Cabins) from the original owners with a goal of bringing modern comfort and amenities while keeping some of the rustic charm. No improvements were needed on the location and views!

Why they chose this property

This property has the best of all worlds! Relaxing views of the flowing river with daily wildlife sightings, while being walking distance to hiking trails, biking trails, disc golf, restaurants, a brewery, shopping and more! You get the feel of seclusion with a convenient proximity to modern amenities. Just a short drive to nearby Sequoyah National Golf Course, historic downtown Bryson City, the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, or even hop over the mountain to spend a day in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
