Beaufort NC Mid July Stay

Everything was pretty good with this rental, communication with the owners, cleanliness of the property and perfect location. Lovely! I do have a problem with the accuracy of the listing. At first I rented this thinking we had the second floor. I did see it with photos, etc. on the website. Checking a bit later I was told that the second floor was not part of my rental and I would have to pay extra $50/night, for using it and my sister-in-law was an addition... Make sure you know what you are to get before you pay otherwise it may happen to you as well. Otherwise, no problem with this property...

Great location, very dirty, bugs

First off, we’ve stayed in this property before (2 years ago) and found the host very nice and the property clean. For this trip, we brought our two daughters because there are two small beds upstairs and thought it would be great. There were many areas that need attention. The floors were dirty, the kitchen utensils and dishes still had food on them and were dirty. There is black colored mold under the sink and on the inside of a cabinet (actually an electrical box) in the kitchen. The drawers had crumbs in them. The kitchen smelled of mold. We killed at least 5 cockroaches and a handful of spiders. One small cockroach was in the bed upstairs (that my daughter was to sleep in). A cockroach fell out of the upstairs bathroom vent when we turned it on. The upstairs gets very warm during the day and struggles to cool off at night. The door deadbolt is extremely difficult to lock from the outside, requiring you to pull both the key and door knob to get it to lock. There was a used kids bandaid stuck to the back of one of the couch pillows. The living room tv never worked (we couldn’t figure out how to connect it to cable—need detailed instructions) and the remote was absolutely disgusting (caked food on it). The outside chairs had spider webs all over them. The upstairs toilet requires you to hold the lever down for almost a minute to flush. We really loved our first stay and really enjoyed the location. We will not be returning.

About the host

Host profile image
The owners, Steve & Gail Bishop, also own VRBO listing 339427. We love this place so much we bought the adjoining property so we could rent it for others to enjoy as well. We are the previous owners of the sailing charter business, LOOKOUT CRUISES, located on the Beaufort docks.

Why they chose this property

If you will review our listing on VRBO, 339427, you will see this is the coolest location in Beaufort to stay. Everything is within walking distance.

What makes this property unique

We tell everyone that once you arrive, park your car, you will not need it. There are 16 fantastic restaurants within 2 blocks and lots of locally owned shops within a few minutes walk. The NC Maritime Museum with Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge exhibit is around the corner. Other attractions include the Beaufort Historic Grounds, The Old Burying Grounds, historic homes tours and plenty of water activities.
