Experience a fantastic and unforgettable family getaway when you book a stay at this historical home right in the heart of Manistee! You'll be just over a half-mile from the historic downtown shops and restaurants. Manistee is appropriately known as the Victorian Port City, and this elegant Victorian home in the heart of Manistee is part of that rich history. The house was originally built for Robert R. and Harriet (Hattie) Blacker in 1892. Robert Blacker was a successful businessman in shingle production, lumber, railroads, banking, drugs, steamships, and waterworks in the late 1800s. He also served in several political offices, including state legislature, Mayor of Manistee, and Secretary of State.

This historic gem is conveniently located in the heart of Manistee. It is only one mile to Lake Michigan and about a short walk to downtown shopping, restaurants, festivals, and everything Manistee offers. You are near it all! Discover must-visit attractions within a short drive, including Ramsdell Regional Center For The Arts, Manistee Golf & Country Club, Lighthouse Park, Manistee North Pier Lighthouse, Douglas Valley Winery, Little River Casino, Orchard Beach State Park, Sundling Park, Captain John Langland Park, Crystal Mountain, and Caberfae Peaks.

This three-level Victorian retreat has had several updates, including new lighting, refinished original hardwood floors, and a new kitchen island. As you enter, you will discover a welcoming and bright living room with inviting sofas and chairs, a smart TV with streaming and cable services to keep you entertained, and a gas fireplace for wintertime visitors. When mealtime comes, channel your inner chef and surprise your guests with delicious homemade meals prepared in the large kitchen, equipped with all stainless steel appliances and a smart TV for additional entertainment.

When it comes to outdoor living, the home boasts a fenced yard. Two covered front porches with seating offer great spots to unwind and rest. Additional perks include a Ping-Pong table, board games, a firepit, a gas grill, and a washer/dryer.

Good space for all 10 of us

Great location and space, cool historic home. Cleanliness was a little bit lacking but we still enjoyed our stay.

Fun & Memorable Stay

We had a very fun & memorable stay at The Blacker House. Extended family enjoyed the spacious kitchen/pantry areas, dining room, living room/sitting areas, porch, and ping pong game room. How wonderful to gather and spend time together! The house is in a great location, walkable to town. All bedrooms (2 are passthroughs) are beautiful and comfortable with nice linens and towels (thought we were going to run out of towels but found extra ones in closet and both laundry & dishwasher detergent pods are provided as well as travel size soaps and shampoo/conditioner). The host is awesome in providing instructions/reminders about stay and extremely prompt in responding to any questions/concerns. We would definitely stay here again!

Happy Birthday

We had a surprise 60th birthday party for one of our siblings. The house had everything we needed to prepare all our meals, to sleep comfortably and restfully. The large living room gave us ample room to rest, relax and enjoy each other. Manistee offers a fun downtown with restaurants and shops. We spent hours hiking and at the beach. It was a wonderful weekend full of memory making.

Two Family Adventure in Manistee

Our stay at The Blacker House in Manistee was tons of fun. The house is huge and has so much beautiful woodwork throughout the home. Seeing all the history within the home was amazing. If you're looking for a pristine, modern home, this is not the house for you. But, if you're looking for ample space with history - this could be a great fit! A large grill, big kitchen, dining room, and living room (plus lots of bedrooms and a ping pong room!) make it an easy house for getting many people together. Our kids had tons of fun playing the yard, and heading to the park across the street. The downtown area of Manistee was only a few blocks away and we were able to take some great walks to enjoy the area. Overall - a great trip to Manistee!

Great House for a Large Group!

Built in the 1890’s the woodwork is amazing. We enjoyed the ping pong table on the third floor but to get to one of the bedrooms you had to walk through another one. Plus, the bathroom on that floor was a half bath making it a chore to take a shower which were all on the second floor. The kitchen has all new appliances and two refrigerators. Plenty of space to dine. The group that takes care of it for the owners were very good in helping us to fix a few issues sending a guy right over. All in all a good house (wifi & 3 TVs) for a big group, but don’t expect perfection Just enjoy and have fun!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
