About this property

SUPER 360 VIEW! BIG, COOL & PRIVATE, POOL SPA, SAUNA ! FUN!

This traditional classic Provencal villa is built on a one acre plateau on the top of a hill, in a large fenced five acres property, with total privacy, and breathtaking three hundred sixty degrees view overlooking the Mediterranean, the Alps and the rolling hills of Sophia Antipolis. The plateau is covered with a lawn and has a large Californian style electronically secured swimming pool (very safe for the children) surrounded by various palm trees, wild olive trees, and lavender and a lot of open deck space. A large fully enclosed outside monastery look like patio adjacent to the house, is the ideal location to keep the children secure and/ or the pets away from the guests during a party or when the adults are gone for a while. An outside bar and barbecue, an easy accessible pool shower and WC under the outside staircase, plenty of garden tables and lounging chairs and games such as ping pong and, pétanque, a setting that makes you want to gaze at the stars till late into the night. Standing amidst of all of it, is the white marble Buddha, the protector of the house. This one of a kind Chinese Buddha originates from India and is centuries old. The ball in his hand is known to have all kinds of healing powers, might they be physical, mental or spiritual. That Buddha belonged to an American Ambassador in Bombay, India at the beginning of the 19th century. When he took his retirement in his villa in St Jean Cap Ferrat, he took the Buddha with him! My mother and I saw it along the road one day in front of an antique shop and mother who had only one more year to live went absolutely crazy about it once she saw it. Overwhelmed, I secretively made a deal with the shopkeeper to have it delivered on her birthday six months later. The presence of the Buddha and the happiness it brought into her life made her live another three years. I believe in quantum physics and how we are all interconnected with the farthest particles in the universe, therefore don't refrain from caressing the ball and if your heart is pure your good wishes will become real. The original villa which has the looks of a 19th century manor, is four hundred fifty square meter large and has been conceptualized by Mr.Triquenot who was the architect of Jean Cocteau, is one of the most prominent play writer and film director of the 2oth century. Triquenot was very traditional and forbade my mother to install modern double panel windows, insisting that the climate did not require them. The hardwood floors for instance were built "à l'ancienne" (the old fashion way!) There is an air gap between the hardwood floors and the base flooring, which gives that original little crackling sound when you step on it that is so specific to French castles and mansions. Another traditional specificity of the house is its tile from Salerno that is to be found in the bathroom at the floor levels and the one at the top level; on the counter top in the stylish old-fashioned kitchen and around the pizza oven;. When I was nine, my mother and I carefully picked them up, not even being aware that they would become museum pieces on a later day. All those tiles are handmade, making it possible to always make new ones even centuries later. Very traditional is the banister of the spiral staircase that consists of a rope. When Mister Triquenot passed away, his son took over and was more tolerant to new ideas that my mother picked up in Beverly Hills, such as closets! Later on, we added consequently a Californian style swimming pool, the studio, the Obama room and the "Tunisian" style far East Wing with its tower and terrace which isn't accessible to the tenants. The guest have access to eight bedrooms and six baths. There are enough beds and rooms to accommodate up to twenty-four guests. The first floor consists of: a large nineteenth century style foyer, a cute guest toilet; a marble spiral staircase leading to six bedrooms; a very large eight square meters living room with our traditional hardwood floors, a large authentic wood burning fireplace made from the local stone of Roquefort Les Pins, that can besides the electrical heating system and AC heat the entire house in the wintertime, large French doors that slides within the walls so that the exterior world harmoniously mingles with the interior ; is furnished with rare antiques and comfortable leather sofas with a seating capacity for twenty guests and an extendable oak dining table with a seating capacity up to fourteen guests, a den with a traditional oak table with a seating capacity of eight guests and a very practical gourmet kitchen with a large breakfast nook. A large master bedroom suite with a large bathroom with a tub and shower stall, covered with tile from Salerno and a build in closet space and another bedroom in the same classical style which has its own private 3/4 bathroom, have direct access to the living room. Both bedrooms have hardwood floors and view on the outside monastery look alike patio. The upper floor consists of : the "South Wing Suite" with his own large outside sun deck overlooking the mountains, the pool and the Mediterranean. It has a large contemporary style bathroom with a walk in closet and traditional hardwood floors; the "North Wing Suite" has a large very private deck overlooking the Alps and the rolling hills where you can easily sunbathe nude away from everyone. This contemporary bathroom with marble tile is very bright, has its own walk in closet, tub, double sink, separate toilet and bidet. The room has a fridge and a microwave oven and is on the second floor, detached from the rest of the house. Finally, the "East Wing Suite" has slightly vaulted ceilings and has the capacity to lodge three guests. It has its own walk in closet and a very traditional Provencal bathroom which a shower stall and a sink decorated exclusively with "Salerno" tile; The "Tower room" which has a balcony overlooking the alps and the pool; two rustic mansard rooms and one contemporary 3/4 bath. The decor and the style are as eclectic as the owner. Antique furniture is combined without any scruples with modern practical furniture, adding to the charm and coziness of this estate. The curtains of the living room and the bedrooms suites were designed by the decorator of the Palace of Prince Albert of Monaco. The kitchen cabinets have remained the same since the last forty years in memory of my mother who used to spend many hours preparing the most exotic meals from macrobiotic cooking to the most extravagant vegan meals inspired by Ann Wigmore's food recipes. Visitors wonder why there are a few steps right in the middle of the hallway leading to the "South wing". Because it overlaps, a large beam that reinforces the entire structure against seismic jilts. The grounds are surrounded with fences and the grand portal is regulated electronically via remote controls. There are many outside lights and the pool can be romantically lit at night. Originally, before the house was built, it was just a steep hill. When I was eight years old, my mother and I climb all the way to the top, and we could see through a few branches the Mediterranean. My mother fell in love with the location and was ready to buy the property on condition that the sales agent who was also to become our contractor would flatten the top of the hill into a large plateau. "No problem" he said and against all odds, one night he brought a few guys over and dynamited and flattened the entire thing, When my mother came to inspect the work, she thought the plateau what too small, and she asked him to double its size, which he did, hoping that he would eventually build the house of her dreams. A few weeks later, she was overjoyed to see that one of her dreams had come true. However, the contractor was fined by the city of an amount that would be considered ridiculous by the environmentalist if the same infraction were to be done today. Yet, mother never used him as her contractor, as he was accused of selling illegally plots of lands that belonged to Pieds Noirs and was incarcerated. She was very fortunate to meet Mr. Triquenot one of the most reputable architects in the region, who was recommended by the owners of the inn "Le Colombier". The old wrought iron gate can be opened automatically with a remote control, and you can park about twenty cars around the plateau and about sixty throughout the entire estate. Originally there was a narrow road going around the plateau. Yet about ten years ago, a brush fire set up by the kids of the neighbors almost reached the house. The cleaning maid was brave enough to stay on the premises and call the fire department. Her courage has saved the entire area from burning down into flames. Upon recommendation of the fire department officer, I enlarged the road, which gave more space for the fire trucks to move around and hence to park more cars. Believe it or not, some clerks in city hall were not aware of the story and wanted to condemn me for illegally having enlarged the road, not knowing that I did it upon recommendation of the officers of the fire department.

Wonderful stay
We had an amazing week together with our familys in this beautiful villa! We were a mix of adults and children and everyone had an amazing time. We had a small wedding ceremony one evening and the chef made a wonderful dinner and the view surrounding the house is breathtaking. We would love to come back again soon!

Not worth the money
We booked the house for a family&friends event (only adults) to celebrate an anniversary. And we enjoyed some of the positive features (see below). But 3 rooms are much to small to call them a room because of the sloping ceilings and one of them had not even a door! Not at all suitable for adults. Consider also a very bad road to the house not suitable for some cars. Some of our friends were also scared by the wild boars coming close to the house (and leaving a lot of poos in the garden) and a rat in the kitchen. We would recommend also to invest in new knifes and a general renovation of the house. Please also consider that there is not music/PA or light equipment for celebrations. The things we loved very much were the pool, the view, the possibility to have breakfast, lunch and dinner outside in a roofed area, the numbers of fridges and ovens, the lighting outside and the very nice briefing from Rino and Colette.

Angel Hill is a beautiful and peaceful place to relax
We were 18 work colleagues who stayed for 4 nights at Angel Hill. The villa is beautiful, spacious and in a stunning peaceful location. We were having some work sessions combined with glorious lunches in the outdoor seating area. It is perfect for working and relaxing! The pool is stunning and we all felt so relaxed staying here. Mehdi and Greg came and cooked for us 2 evenings which was really amazing. They put so much love into their cooking and being in this location with such wonderful food, wine and company made the trip extra special! Being further away from the coast did mean some extra travelling, but it was worth it. We rented two cars and supplemented with taxis. We went sailing on Rivage Croisiere one of the days which was fantastic...highly recommend it! Thank you so much Padoum for letting us stay and we would love to return at some point. Perhaps we will get to meet some day! Best wishes from us at These Ways, Norway

On a passé d’excellentes vacances !

Great villa, hard location
The villa was amazing. Big and a lot of room. There was everything you need, both in the kitchen and laundry etc. We were 18 people and could easily fit. Some of the rooms were smaller than others with a short roof, but it was ok. The only thing that was a problem was transport, the taxis that were recommended in the villa only had one small car so we could never fit all with those. So we had to organize other taxis since Uber also don’t go to the place of the villa. You need at least one rental car to be able to go grocery shopping and other stuff, and then it was easy to organize for everyone. Overall, great great stay! As long as you have a car :)

Herlig helg i landlig villa
Kunne absolutt ha leid her igjen. Tusen takk for oss!

Amazing Vill afor a Hen group of 24!
We LOVED our stay at this Villa. There was a group of 24 Hens staying for a long weekend in June. The villa was easy to find although the buses we hired to ship us around couldn't fit up the last bit of the hill to the villa, it was a quick 5 min walk the last hundred metres or so. Everyone loved the villa, in particular the outside areas which made it feel really luxurious with amazing views all around. The first day we took a short 20min walk (pretty much in a straight line) from the Villa to a nearby restaraunt called Heaven which were super grateful to have a large group booking after 2 yrs of Covid! The food was amazing and the drinks were flowing. The Villa has an extra function room which was great for a boogie. We also hired a private chef to come and cook for us one night using Dine indulge, which was a wonderful experience. All of our guests comfortably fit in the villa, and there was plenty of fridge space for food and drink. Our contact Rino was super helpful, and met us on time for both check in and check out, he answered all my questions pre arrival and was available to contact if we needed anything, even recommending Carrefore to do an online food shop to arrive on the day we checked in. A truly perfect weekend, would highly recommend :)

Sehr netter Gastgeber
All over ein gutes Haus fuer viele Personen.

The picture is the cover of the story "La Colline des Anges"(Angel Hill) which I wrote about three years ago in memory of my dearest parents. I was born in Brussels in 1958 and lived in Flanders till the age of seventeen till I decided to study at UCLA in one of the most creative and avant-garde cities of the world : Los Angeles. I was granted my MA in film at UCLA in 1984. After having obtained my doctor's degree in nutrition, I published my first book "The Harmony Diet" named after my mother. In 1989 the RTB F produced an exclusive award-winning reportage about my life in Los Angeles. Later on, inspired by my two favorite authors Maurice Maeterlinck and Felix Timmermans, writing became my passion. My first three fiction novels l "La Colline des Anges " by "Les Editions du Pantheon" "Onder de Olijfboom by "Free Musketeers" and "How Not to Bury your Mother in Provence" came out in memory of my mother who loved her property in Provence so much. I recently obtained my dual citizenship and lastly a documentary has been produced that should be coming out very soon on the European screens. I am now permanently reside in Venice Beach California since 1999. right on the sands facing the vast re energizing Pacific Ocean. Besides writing, I enjoy exploring more and more the secrets of the universe and metaphysics. I love reading tarot cards for people just out of love and compassion to help them trace their road in their live so that they can face this more and more complex world . Swimming, hiking, eating healthy, staying away from alcohol and tobacco smoking have helped me stay in shape at my older age in contrast to my childhood when I was bedridden most of the time. To make people happy and help the needy and the unprivileged children are part of the greatest joy in life.

Why they chose this property

Because of its strategic implantation between Cannes, St Stropez and Monte Carlo; its breathtaking views; its calm and serenity; its secure environment; its large amount of spacious rooms; its large possibilities of having the greatest fun and lastly its story behind it and the incredible energy it holds and emanate to people who stay there as it has attracted so many marginal entities from all over the planet. It is the perfect place to travel back in time and to imagine how it was to live in the Provence fifty years ago, when Roquefort Notre Dame was still a very remote community, far away from the frantic world of automobiles and various upcoming technologies. Once you have reached the plateau and finally settled in, you have a sense of a back to the past syndrome. You will feel totally secure, protected by nature and the land that surrounds you, behind the large wrought iron gate. There is some sort of force coming out from the soil and the white marble Buddha that is more than two hundred years old. The plateau contains, as some of my friends say, the same energy as that of a vortex, similarly to the ones you find in Sedona in the gorgeous state of Arizona. Enjoying every day's sunrises and watching the sun sets behind the Alps are unique opportunities to recall the incredible healing and calming powers of nature. Whether you want to be totally zen; whether you want to party with the kids in and around the large swimming or on the lawn playing pétanque or ping pong; whether you want to enjoy the sun rays flirting with your bare skin and body and feel the warm Sirocco wind from Tunisia caress your waving hair; whether you want to enjoy a sip of Provencal rich fruity wine with a rare selection of the local cheeses while watching the golden sun rays sparkle on the Mediterranean; whether on a chillier evening you reminisce around the large wood burning fire place; this place is all about family ties, ever lasting friendships, peace and unconditional love.

What makes this property unique

This property has a story. Healers, spiritual leaders, producers, writers from all over the world have come to share the uniqueness of the grounds. The most memorable event occurred when the grounds were blessed by one of the highest and supreme Buddhist dignitary from the second Tibetan Buddhist school: his holy highness the Karmapa and Jigme Rinpoche. They came with his a delegation of monks, musicians, priests to perform many rituals on the property and blessed it profoundly in the presence of hundreds of people. Many spiritual gatherings were hold in the large Obama room which became a sanctuary of prayers and devotion. Unfortunately as I did not have the right building permit to make from Angel Hill a holy place and upon the neighbors complaints I got entangled in a ten-year-long lawsuit against the prefecture. Yet at the end I was able to regularize everything. Unfortunately by the time the Obama Room was permitted the School of Buddhism had taken another route. Yet I haven't abandoned my mother's dream to make Angel Hill accessible to the public one way or the other. When I transit to the other world, will it go to the villagers of Roquefort Notre Dame as a center for artists or where people can speak up to fight for the ecological rights of our fragile our planet, will it eventually go back to the Buddhist or a congregation that will play jazz and gospel , or could it eventually become a universal library. It is not very clear at this time. Time will tell. In the meantime lets be pragmatic and enjoy the place for what it has to offer : a nice healthy environment enabling us to re energize ourselves and connect with the forces of the beautiful natural environment of the Provence. A place for the children to enjoy in many various way and that they will remember one they grow up. Healing, Relaxation, Detente, Serenity, Beauty, Fun, Joy, Laughs, Friends and, Family..
