About this property
Charming Village House,Uzès 5 Km, Pool, Walled Gardens, Views, 2 bedrooms
Villa La Colline is located in a small, quiet picturesque hillside village, 5kms from Uzès, facing full South, offering stunning panoramic views of rolling hills, vineyards with meandering country roads. My home sited right in the village is accessed via a small walled path (calade) that leads through a private gate to your garden and the villa.
Surrounded by old stone walls the delightful, private back garden has a lovely black bamboo grove where plenty of sun and shade will make your lunches and dinners memorable. A large terrace offering the lovely views of the country side is accessed through 2 French doors from the living room. The house is fully equipped for four persons. It has a separate, well appointed kitchen, a bright living/dining room with a wood insert fireplace and well stocked bookshelves. There are two bedrooms (one with 2 single beds to make a King size bed, the other with 2 single beds for a Queen size bed); each bedroom has a closet/storage space. The bathroom is located between the bedrooms and includes a bath/shower and a toilet.
Located on a lower level (restanque) and accessed across the lower floor lawn via stone stairs, the large pool (6x12m) is beautifully sited, sheltered by stone walls and affording the panoramic views of the rolling hills. Enjoy the vista from the lounge chairs and the small pool house.
The nearest village, Montaren, 2 kms away has a superb restaurant where there is also a full bakery, a very well stocked super market and a pharmacy.
The splendid medieval/Renaissance town of Uzès, just 5 km away, has plenty of shopping opportunities; the celebrated Wednesday local food market and the renowned Saturday colourful market, Place aux herbes, are not to be missed as well as very fine restaurants.
Our home is very well located to take in the very diverse and rich Languedoc region: to the North, the Cévennes mountains are a great destination for hiking, canoeing and sightseeing where you can enjoy the rugged landscape with its deeply cut and scraggly rocks and expansive, wild vistas; not to be missed, the splendid replica of the 36000 years Cave of Pont d'Arc that has just opened. A mere 15 km Eastward, the World Heritage Site of the Pont du Gard aqueduct has been waiting for you 2000 years, a masterpiece of Roman engineering that once supplied water to Nîmes. Further on, the papal city of Avignon will inspire you with its famous Pont Bénézet, the Palais des Papes and the lively city life, especially in July during the famous Festival. To the South and 27 km through the guarrigue, Nîmes, France’s oldest Roman city, will impress you by the stunning beauty of the Roman amphitheater and the Temple, Maison Carrée, and its very friendly, carefully restored old centre. A few km away across the Rhône, the provençal city of Arles, where Van Gogh lived and painted, is well known for its splendid Roman Arena, amphitheatre, its colourful atmosphere and great photo art exhibits. For a different experience, a little over an hour of driving will take you to the Grande Bleue, to enjoy a swim in the Méditerranée, long walks on sandy beaches (La Grande Motte, le Grau du Roi, l'Espiguette), lunch in the historic, fortified medieval town of Aigues Mortes or to the Camargue to be dazzled by flamingos. And for some other days, just lazying around the pool, watching the swallows dance away, a glass of local wine in hand, is a perfect holiday plan.
