About this property

Lagniappe at Barnett Manor in Uptown

About this space...
Our place is ideally located in Uptown-NOLA...within 10-12 minutes of most every point of interest! It's secluded, beautiful and awakes all senses beginning with your approach! Lovely grounds including a pool/hot tub (enjoyable year-round due to our mild winters), fountains & lush landscaping offer seasonal sights and aromas. Your private entrance/indoor/outdoor space are thoughtfully designed for your enjoyment and escape to this unique, historical, haven! Guests must be at least 25 years old.

The space...
This is a beautifully restored, historical, Neoclassical Revival residence. It was a pure labor of love to give this lovely property a new life and to return it to its original beauty with modern comforts. We have thoughtfully created what we think is a very unique, well appointed, intimate space for our guests. The interior space of your suite and all aspects are private to our guests and not shared with us. Our goal is to offer a taste of lagniappe (Cajun French word meaning an unexpected gift/surprise; pronounced: 'lanyap') throughout your stay. You'll enjoy a private balcony/porch, separate entrance, spacious space which includes a lovely living room area, dining area, private bath, kitchenette (coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge) and a sprawling bedroom with almost every comfort we could think of and arrange.

Our grounds are our version of "utopia", an extension of the interior space which we are happy to share with you...beautifully maintained landscaping with water fountains, numerous cozy spaces to enjoy for lounging, enjoying a beverage or a meal, or taking a dip in our saltwater pool/hot tub. This is a very special, very private experience...a near perfect hideaway to relax in and rejuvenate between adventures while exploring NOLA!
Guest access
You'll independently enter the property through our secure, gated yard. Our pool area is meticulously maintained for your seasonal enjoyment and the hot tub is available throughout the year. A porch with sunning furniture is just outside of your living room and is totally private as well as every aspect of your interior space. The grounds, pool and hot tub are technically shared, but we generally defer use of the pool area to our guests when hosting. There is ample on- street parking.

Other things to note...
The property is nonsmoking however you are welcome to smoke in designated, outdoor areas. There are stairs to access the guest suite.

Helene and Kenny have a beautiful vrbo in uptown New Orleans that is luxurious, quiet, and conveniently located to access all that the city has to offer. Most importantly, they were amazing hosts!! We definitely hope to stay with them again!!

Charming and perfectly located

We loved the place and felt very comfortable and welcomed by the owners who live downstairs. The garden with the pool and hot tub is charming. The location if perfect for most of the New Orleans touring needs. The only issue that needs to be better explained is that the kitchenette is basically a cabinet with a fridge, microwave and some kitchenware. There is no sink or space to prepare food or cook. That is our only criticism.

Phenomenal property and Hospitality

The owners of the property Helene and Kenny have really made a special tranquil oasis in the Garden District of New Orleans. Their instructions were clear and the space was beautiful and comfortable. This is hands down the best experience I’ve had at any stay and I’ve been around the world to Paris, Switzerland, and the like. If you’re looking for a place to rest and relax after taking in all the art, music, culture, and food in this special city, this is the place to be!

About the host

Host profile image
I am a native of the city, love to travel, experience great food, great music and really appreciate a delicious glass of red wine. My husband and I owned/operated a 5- bedroom B&B for 8 years in NOLA until our respective careers took a different direction...we both agree that it was one of the most memorable and rewarding periods of our lives. We love nothing more than sharing the best of NOLA with visitors and steering them to our favorite, "hidden gems" and to places which make New Orleans so unique. These days, we "play" as much as possible. We have separate careers but enjoy partnering to manage our rental properties and we're always looking for new, great real estate opportunities. I play tennis at the awesome clay courts in our neighborhood several times a week, Ken is an artist, loves good bourbon and enjoys a great cigar, daily. We love live music, and we are always on the quest for great "eats" in the city. We both also love to salsa dance, often resorting to dancing on our kitchen floor as a last resort. Our homes away from home are Pensacola Beach for a quick getaway and Puerto Rico when we have the luxury of time.

Why they chose this property

I love this neighborhood! I've lived within six blocks of our current address for most of my life. It felt natural to choose it for our real estate investments as well as to make the neighborhood home for our family.

What makes this property unique

The seclusion, beauty of both the interior & outdoor space, the escape and intimacy factors are several aspects of our place which are really special. Also, our place was lovingly and thoughtfully created by us as our 'version of paradise' to allow us to leave the chaos and stresses of the real world, beyond our gates...we do our very best to provide this same refuge and experience for our guests.
