About this property

Amazing Rustic Cabin Escape

This rustic retreat, with breath taking views, is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in Wilkes County, North Carolina on a private mountain. The chalet style cabin is tucked away high up in a gated community, just 20 minutes from Boone, and is the perfect place to relax as well as enjoy local attractions.
The Community features a relaxing waterfall, picnic areas, small stocked pond with bluegill, redear, sunfish, largemouth bass and channel catfish ready for the fisherman's hook (catch and release please) as well as many hiking trails.

The cabin features include:
•Bears/Woodlands Themed Decor
•Sleeps 6
◦1 Queen Bed
◦1 Twin/Full Bunk bed
◦1 Queen pullout sofa
•2 full baths, with a large Jacuzzi tub in master bath
•Stone finished, gas log fireplace
•HIGH SPEED WI-FI and GREAT cellphone reception at the cabin for most major cell providers (rare in many areas of the mountains)
AMAZON Echo devices throughout the home great for all room music! Including AMAZON FIRE Stick/Cube.
•Satellite HD - Flat screen TV in Living room area with DVD player, Master Bedroom Flat screen TV with Satellite TV/ DVD player, Spare bedroom with Roku TV and PlayStation 2 (with DVD Movies and games)
•Washer / Dryer
•Complete kitchen including Jenn-Air range, stainless side by side refrigerator with water/ice, stainless dishwasher and many small appliances (crockpot, sandwich/waffle makers, coffee pot)
-Propane Gas BBQ Grill

Beds all have comforters/quilts, as well as extra throw blankets for your comfort. NO OTHER BED OR BATH LINENS ARE PROVIDED WITH RENTAL - YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN.

Cleaning Fee of $80.00 per stay- NO DAILY MAID SERVICE

Pet Fee $125.00 (if you bring Fluffy or Fido... THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED ON FURNITURE!!!)

The Community is approximately 12 miles outside of Wilkesboro, and the cabin is 6 miles up the mountain on a paved road. During the warmer months all vehicles have easy access to the cabin, but an All-Wheel Drive / 4WD vehicle is helpful for winter months IF there is HEAVY snow for the safest travel.

Buck Mountain Community has some rules too. Dogs must be on leash when not on the premises and if unleashed at the cabin and outside, must respond to voice/hand recall they need to be leashed (for their safety from wildlife and that of the other residents and pets).

There is a Community Garbage Compactor, within the Buck Mountain Community, where guests are required to dispose of their own household trash.

NO Swimming/boating in the Pond or at Staghorn Falls water pooling area. (please mind other Community Posted signage and rules)

Know that this is a RUSTIC MOUNTAIN RETREAT- with all the beauty of nature that comes with the cabin, there are challenges and other gifts from mother nature. Storms can effect satellite TV and unexpected interruption to other utilities (ie. water is from a private well that can loose pressure, or have other issues, from time to time and cause a temporary loss of water service). Also natures little critters that tend to like to visit the cabin too…Lady Bugs usually present (due to Christmas Tree Farms in the area) as well as some other flying insect friends. Like most of the area, brown marmorated stink bugs can be a an issue. (As noted on many websites if you Google it for the mountains and other areas of NC. Google it) We do what we can, but this is part of what comes along with a property in the mountains.

If you have allergies (pet or environmental) this may not be the cabin for you, as we do allow pets - pollen and dust are impossible to keep out 100% even with routine cleaning.

Primary renter MUST be over 25 and onsite during the rental.
NO PARTIES, NO SPECIAL EVENTS
Visitors not listed on the rental agreement, must leave by midnight.
*Property has security cameras on the exterior to monitor entrance doors, driveway and inside basement to
Monitor pipes and utility equipment.

*The Property Owner Association will not allow Renters to utilize ATV/UTV/Dirt Bikes within community or trail system.

Breathtaking views!!
This cabin was absolutely perfect for our family and allowed us to enjoy breathtaking views from the very moment we woke up each morning! Amenities were nice and updated while still maintaining a true cabin feel — great balance between the two. The owner was also fantastic to work with as she was not overbearing with rules as some others can be, just asking to respect the property and treat it as if it were our own. Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us! These were treasured memories for our family!

Beautiful cabin, beautiful area, awesome vacation.
The cabin was amazing. Tammy was super responsive. We had a super minor problem with water that we didn’t find out about until 2am, and Tammy responded around 7am. I wasn’t expecting a response until like noon, but she solved our problem well before any of us even woke up lol. Totally recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a beautiful view as soon as you wake up in the morning. There was also coffee already there! If you get carsick pretty easily, be careful driving to-from the cabin. I had to stop twice in just one drive because I was getting carsick from my OWN driving. Anyway, loved the place. 5 stars all around.

Perfect Fall mountain getaway
We were wanting a cabin in the mountains that provided very specific things such as being high enough up with a fantastic view, a wrap around porch, a grill for grilling, WiFi connection etc. Tammy's cabin provided all that and so much more. You are truly treated as a guest in their home. You will never be disappointed with her family cabin. It was an absolute delight and gave us the peace and quiet and serenity that was needed if only for a few days.

Beautiful view and perfect location
This house was perfect for our mountain vacation. The views were beautiful from the house which we enjoyed all day long. We loved that there were so many hikes in the neighborhood. We had our two year old grandson with us and we were able to go on different hikes every day. We all loved our stay!

Amazing Property!
My wife and I had a romantic getaway, and the property is amazing! We got in late at night, so didn't see the view until the morning - it is to die for! The cabin is comfortable and well supplied; it was a cozy mountain retreat.

Beautiful Scenery
The stay was gorgeous and was within good proximity of sites such as blue ridge parkway, Boone and Blowing Whistle. It does provide an almost secluded, private feeling while still being within a community. The drive up the mountain can be tedious and would definently recommend having whatever provisions you’d like unless you’re planning on traveling out of the community daily. Thank you for opening your gorgeous space to us!

Beautiful views and a memorable stay!
The views that this cabin affords you are impeccable. My wife and I ended several late afternoons on the patio overlooking the Mountain view with a glass of wine and a perfect sunset. You get all the privacy you can ever want, in addition to being in a great spot to serve as a base for adventures in the area (hiking, tubing, visiting Boone/Blowing Rock, etc) this cabin served all our needs and surpassed our expectations. As an added bonus, Tammy was super responsive to even the most mundane requests. It’s an ideal spot and we’d happily return!

Peaceful Getaway
If solitude is what you're after, this is the place. It's close enough to Boone, Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge Parkway that you won't get bored but the cabin is tucked up high on the mountain in a very quiet area. The cabins that I have been to in the past, have been pretty but noisy. Not here though. All that you hear are the sounds from the forest and all that you see is endless forest, mountains and stars. Having a small fire on the deck, listening to the coyotes howling, hearing the blackbear in the woods and relaxing was my favorite part. Tammy is great and we way over packed because we needed next to nothing. It's a bit of a drive up the mountain but we'll worth it. Highly recommend!!!

Beautiful home with spectacular sunsets
Wonderful home with everything you need for cooking. Gorgeous sunsets from an amazing balcony. It is a long, windy road up to the house but once you're there you won't want to leave. But we did for trips to Boone and several wineries.

Great views, remote location yet easily accessible. Great long range views and waterfall.
Buck Mountain is a great community. Easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Boone, though you may not want to leave the property. Tammy is a fantastic hostess, her communication is on point and every thing is as she says it will be. I will be back!

Beautiful quiet place in the mountains
Such a lovely property. Very well stocked and truly beautiful. Perfect for our family. It’s a bit of a drive to get to restaurants or amenities so that’s a factor, if that’s important to you. Also the master bedroom is a lovely open air loft - which means the light from the large front windows comes in at sunrise so sleeping in is a challenge. If those things don’t bother you and you like lovely views, walks/hikes, pet friendly (our dog LOVED the area too!), clean with fantastic amenities, this place is for you! We played lots of games, hiked, cooked in the well supplied kitchen, roasted marshmallows and watched amazing sunrises and sunsets. And one day we drove an hour to go snow tubing which was a lot of fun. (No snow while we were at cabin but can imagine that it’s a winter wonderland when there is. We would definitely come back for another visit. Thank you!

Best Mountain Sunsets and Peaceful
Not to take away from the property, but the view, the quietness and sunsets were peaceful and stunning. This alone is 5+. The view is SW and provides some mid morning sun through sunset on the deck, great view from all the main rooms room, at least the great room, kitchen and upstairs bedroom. Granted any store is a bit of a drive so load up prior, and if you have forgotten something chances are it will be there as the supplies and extra staple donations are plentiful. The kitchen is very nicely stocked, nice plates and matching cups, wine glasses and silverware, pots and pans . No shortcuts here. Knives need sharping, but hey they always do at everyplace we've been, so we bring our own. The few "neighbors" are polite and wave friendly, and the roads are great for a nice walk. Its surprising you cannot see another cabin until you go for a walk. We had the best Thanksgiving is a while. Tammy is an excellent host. Pleasant and easy to work with.

Fall 2021
The pictures of that view say it all! We were there first week of November and had beautiful fall colors. We loved sitting on the deck, grilling and enjoying that view. We had a fully stocked kitchen and pantry. We brought a lot of kitchen spices, condiments, coffee stuff but really didn’t need any of it. Tammy gave us great ideas of places to see and eat. We loved grandfather mountain and hawksbill mountain. The cabin was really beautiful. Only thing we would prefer would be a large shower in the master bath rather that just a tub, but that’s just a personal preference. Look forward to going back someday!
