About this property
Behind Chulia - Georgetown UNESCO Heritage
Being at the all day busiest Chulia Street in the heritage core zone, you are convenient to fully immerse yourself in the heart of uniquely Penang heritage celebrations and iconic architectures.
Famous street arts, Little India, Clan Jetty, Armenian, etc are 2-7 min walk. This loft is just a stone's throw away from a multitude of delicious local cuisines, street food, cafe and bar in Penang Little India, which is definitely heaven for foodies.
And, be basked in the collection of family arts gallery while staying in the heritage building built in 1950s. Want to have a differentiated stay experience? This is your next unique holiday IG photos.
A little knowledge for you, the entire property is an old heritage building constructed back in 1950s, where the total length is 130 feet. In the traditional heritage building (with no air conditioning those days) it is essential to have air well for better air circulation. And for this property, with such building length, it has 2 air wells. This Loft is part of the 2nd half of the property and assessible via the beautified Back Lane Park maintained by Penang City Council. Moreover, we maintain the original big tall steel door entrance into the building, where you have to reach through a small opening to unlock the latch with smart padlock behind the big tall steel door. We also specially converted the iconic air well into a cozy sleeping zone. The bare concrete floor surround the beds is at its original state, but layered with transparent lacquer for comfort purpose.
The mozaic and terrazzo flooring in the bath room space are original too. Portion of the mozaic chipped off over the year and we refurbished by filling the gap with cement. 3 pieces of the terrazzo were broken and replaced but different in look and feel.
All decorative displays in this Loft are part of our personal collections. 4 wooden doors are transferred from another Anglo Malay house in Jelutong which is currently a famous authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Others include portion of our festive collections and our children's childhood art pieces and companions.
By sharing our trace of life, surrounded with heritage sentiments , we hope to bring to you a differentiated experience during your precious holiday moments.
Getting around the neighborhood are mostly on foot as street arts are in every corner, including the back lanes. Besides, trishaws services for tourists are servicing around the Heritage trail. Calling for e-hailing (via GRAB apps) is easily available.
