We have designed this vacation home experience to be unforgettable for you. We are avid travelers ourselves, so we know firsthand the central importance that a beautiful and unique home can play in making your vacation a resounding success.

This high-end desert retreat, situated on a one-acre lot in the quiet drama of the outdoors, provides access to the best Scottsdale has to offer. The three-tiered pavered back patio with view fence grants you unhindered views of majestic Four Peaks as it broods over the Superstition Mountains. You may very well observe wildlife from the patio, or witness the pitchy howls of roving coyotes (don't worry, you're all safe, including your pets)!

The home experiences very little traffic noise, yet it is close to Dynamite Rd. Beautiful mature landscaping, built-in BBQ, a fire pit for fun evenings, a shaded patio, and comfortable furniture means you can enjoy a meal in the beautiful outdoors, day or night. Like we said - unforgettable!

The private courtyard features a fountain and desert garden with furniture: perfect for sunbathing (with or without tan lines!), reading and relaxing.

GRAND PLAYER PIANO with a large range of discs, from classical to show tunes, jazz to the Beatles!

Full gourmet kitchen (650 square feet), office (4th bedroom with blow-up bed if needed), spacious living room with bar, plush master quarters, and very relaxing bedrooms make for a delightful living experience. All mattresses are extremely comfortable. Hi-speed internet access, games, books, movie selection, HDTVs with Blue Ray means you'll enjoy your stay.

Rest assured that for this home, the reality is -better- than the pictures. We've received this comment a number of times from guests, though the photos were professionally done.

We are so proud of all there is to see and do in our part of Scottsdale! Make sure to zoom out on the map when you reach the "Location" portion of this listing to see some of the nearby attractions. The Tom's Thumb, Pemberton, Fraesfield or Pinnacle Peak hikes are all within ten minutes of the home and offer the best walking experiences that Scottsdale has to offer. There are golf courses nearby such as Troon North, as well as horseback riding (ask about free golf brochure).

Optional Amenity: Village Health Club Access (extra fee varies with length of stay and number of occupants). 17 minutes from the home (but nearby to other attractions and restaurants), gain access to Arizona's most exclusive fitness club: the Village at DC Ranch. This magnificent 81,000 square foot club provides all the fitness and sports amenities you desire, including two temperature controlled pools. The club also features a full-service day spa and hair salon, a separate wing for children which includes a junior basketball court, kid's club, nursery and outdoor play area, mountain biking featuring organized rides throughout the area, a member's business office and private meeting rooms, award-winning cafe and pro shop boutique. This club is one of the best things going in all of Scottsdale! We definitely recommend it, particularly if pool access is important.

So there you have it: create a get-away for you and your loved ones that is simply intense. If you have any questions about our home or the area, drop us a line or call us. Don't be a stranger - we're here to help! We're glad to serve you any way we can, and we hope that you choose our home for your stay in Scottsdale.

Seeking serenity? Look no further.

The home with the blue door is comfortable and nicely decorated (even a player piano), but the real appeal, for us, was the location. It is out in horse country, east of north Scottsdale, away from city traffic, on winding red dirt roads and close enough to the trails on the McDowell Preserve to be mountain bike heaven. This is a nice home base if your interest is logging miles on your bikes and digging starry skies and sunrise views over Four Peaks. Owners were responsive and helpful.

Great getaway!

This property is even better in person. We loved the location and decor. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. During the pandemic cleanliness was very important and the home was kept in immaculate condition. I would highly recommend this property to anyone that wants to be near the busy area of Scottsdale but have a nice, secluded place as your home base. The hosts were very responsive and excellent to work with.

Perfect stay

We absolutely loved everything about the home out in the desert. It is spacious, well equipped and beautiful. The views were breathtaking and if you are a hiker, this is an incredible experience with multiples trailheads close by. We went for a week with our adult children and it was perfect for 6. Adam and Lindsay were so responsive and we would love to return. Every day was 75 to 80 degrees and sunny and the location was great if you wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle. We highly recommend.

Excellent! So relaxing & peaceful

Thank you Adam & Lindsay for a wonderful vacation in your beautiful home! Your home was so peaceful and the perfect setting for our family to gather over the Christmas holiday. We are so grateful for your hospitality and for accommodating us so nicely. Everything was perfect, from the size of the home, to the decor, the amazing outdoor setting/views, hiking trails, location...just everything! You made it so easy for our family to truly enjoy time together. Thanks again for helping us to spend the holidays together...was much needed.

This deserves 10 stars!

We escaped the east coast cold and chose our accommodations very carefully since we were staying a month. After experiencing this home, yard and view we wish we had planned to stay at least two months. Adam and Lindsay were amazing hosts. The home was immaculate, decor beautiful and relaxing, and the house had everything we needed. Bed was so comfortable! We love mountain biking, hiking and consider ourselves foodies so this area was perfect. We loved watching the birds and gambel’s quails. We’ve never seen sunrises and sunsets that spectacular. All in all, we can’t wait to return to this property next winter and will definitely stay longer. Thank you again Adam and Lindsay!

Booked for 4 weeks and stayed for 4 days

Don’t let the title mislead you - it is a beautiful home and would recommend it. Our only issue was the cleanliness and a deep clean was needed desperately. Especially in the Covid times we are in. The owners did offer to clean and we could return for the remainder of the rental. By this time the damage was done and we declined and returned home.

Total Relaxation in the Desert

My family enjoyed a seven day stay in this beautiful home on the outskirts of Scottsdale over Christmas break. My husband and three teenage children enjoyed the open, sprawling floor plan. The location of this house was perfect for us; very quiet, gorgeous views, and close to miles of hiking trails. Adam was so helpful and easy to work with. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Our favorite day trips were hiking at Tom's Thumb and a white knuckle drive on the Apachche Trail with breathtaking scenery. There is so much to see and do in this area. We would love to spend a few more weeks exploring. We would definitely recommend this property to family and friends. Thanks Adam and Lindsay for a memorable stay in the southwest.

A Very Enjoyable Visit

We hope others will have similar opportunity to experience a stay in the Scottsdale area with this property. Unique, more than worthwhile, and very good coordination with and by the owners. The neighbors were helpful on the rare occasion we met them during a hike. Everyday we gained greater appreciation of the views and facilities provided. Your patience in waiting for the desert wildlife will be rewarded in the East facing venue. The west facing courtyard was wonderful in the warm mornings with its shade and breezes. Star gazing was wonderful and the dawns and sunrises very nice. The property is well maintained and equipped. Yes we will return , the Good Lord willing, not worried about the creek rising.

Relaxation in the desert

We stayed at the property for 2 1/2+ months and had a wonderful stay. The house is open and spacious, clean and well appointed. There is plenty of room to have guests and allow everyone to have their own space. Kitchen is big and fun to prepare food in. The back yard is the highlight of this property. There are big comfortable chairs to sit and have coffee in the morning sun, a nice grilling area with outdoor table to eat under the stars in the warmth of the desert air. The fire pit is wonderful and the wood smells absolutely wonderful. You'll never want to wash your sweatshirt again! The space if very open with beautiful landscaping including a stunning mesquite tree in the middle of the yard. The entire back yard is a sanctuary for morning wake up, relaxing with a good book during the day, there is nice afternoon shade to relax listening to the fountain, grilling and dining outside, looking at the beautiful evening sky and hanging around the fire pit at night. The courtyard is a very private, quiet and peaceful area to sit and read or look at the night sky as you listed to the fountain. The property is situated out in the desert. You can walk out the backyard to a variety of desert trails. A walk down a dirt road leads you to McDowell Regional Park where there are miles and miles of hiking and biking trails - they never get old. Adam and Lindsey are tremendous to work with. The home was spotless when we walked in and everything we need was there for us. Any questions or things we wanted addressed were answered and taken care of immediately. We were so grateful that they opened their beautiful home to us. Our dog loved it there too. This is beautiful home in a terrific location for being out enjoying all the desert has to offer. We loved it. Thank you Adam and Lindsey!

Nice place, but some issues...

As others have said, this place is really nice. The house is spacious, the furniture and beds are all comfortable, the kitchen is stocked with everything you need, the backyard is wonderful, as are the views, and the owners are really great at the little things (starter coffee, soaps, etc) and they are very very responsive to issues and questions. However, we did experience several issues. First, the appliances are getting old and several have problems. The dishwasher died while we were there, as did the coffee maker. The fridge had problems as did the oven, though they worked ok. The owners really worked hard to resolve the appliance issues, but with covid, they faced an uphill climb. I personally think they should proactively replace appliances before they die while the house is rented. Second, while the backyard is really nice, it's not pet-friendly. Whenever our dogs ventured off the patio they got nasty cactus thorns in their paws. We could not let them off the patio. And, the fence is not high enough to prevent coyotes from jumping the fence and attacking pets. That didn't happen to us, but we were concerned. The neighborhood is quiet and secluded (only a handful of houses) and the neighbors are friendly and helpful. But be aware that the house is on a dirt road, and it's 20 minutes to the nearest grocery store. On the other hand it is really close to some great hiking/biking trails! We really enjoyed the proximity to the preserved desert areas. The third issue is that the satellite tv set -up is a bit strange. The Dish receiver is in the master bedroom. But both the TV in the master and the TV in the living room are connected to that one receiver. This might be why we could never get a true 16 x 9 picture on the living room TV. The sides were always cut-off no matter what picture mode we tried. The owners might want to upgrade their Dish system to have a receiver on each TV. Finally, the owners should upgrade all of their bed linens. They don't fit the beds, as I think they just upgraded the mattresses (which are all super comfortable).

Safety Issues

I stayed in the house for a week. While we stayed there, the batteries in the smoke detector started to die. The ceilings in the house are 9 ft tall. The contract specifically states, “Lessor looks over landscaping and maintenance. Lessee needs to promptly inform Lessor of any problems, and we ask Lessee to keep a watchful eye on the home during their stay.” I notified the owners the batteries were dying. They instructed me to get a ladder from the garage and the batteries were in the pantry. I asked them to come out and replace the batteries, and they would not. This is a risk and a liability. I did not feel comfortable climbing on someone else’s ladder to replace these batteries. I emailed them to let them know this. They did not respond. The owners were not helpful in this situation. I feel this was wrong, and the owners should have come out to replace the batteries as it is their responsibility, even according to their contract. I have stayed in many houses around the world, and the fact that these owners didn't show concern over safety protocol really bothered me.

About the host

Hosted by Adam or Lindsay Zingg

Host profile image
We greatly enjoy the beauty of Arizona, and have many family members in the nearby town of Fountain Hills that also draws us to the area. We have found ourselves moving around quite a bit for work and further education during the last several years, yet have been able to spend a good bit of time in Scottsdale as well. We consider ourselves food and wine enthusiasts, excited to try cuisine from most any country. We also enjoy the outdoors, and manage to do a lot of camping in Arizona's mountains, or nearby California, Utah or Colorado.

Why they chose this property

Our property is very unique in that it is extraordinarily peaceful, with its mountain views, and large expanses of open land, all within 15-25 minutes off all that North Scottsdale, Carefree, and CaveCreek have to offer. We are the original owners and fell in love with the luxury of the home, combined with its practicality and spaciousness.

What makes this property unique

While looking for our home in Arizona, we were primarily attracted to the peacefulness and quiet drama of the desert. We have enjoyeded many nights of grilling surf and turf, turning on our player piano, and sitting outdoors with a glass of wine under the bright stars. Our area of the desert is at a slightly higher elevation than the rest of the valley, and so we also loved that the temperatures can be up to 10 degrees cooler than most of Phoenix! In the summer, this means cooler nights, where you can still enjoy the outdoors.
