About this property

Clifton House - Observatory | King Suite, Sleeps 4 | Mississippi River Views

Clifton House - Observatory Suite | Natchez, MS
King Suite in Historic Home | Sleeps 4 | Mississippi River Views | Shared Living Room

With its unsurpassed view of the Mississippi River, Clifton House underwent a total renovation in early 2017 to add modern touches and make every bedroom en suite. The décor authentically reflects the love the family has had for this home. When the first generation moved in, they brought period antiques, which were lovingly restored during the renovation. Each subsequent generation has added their own modern-day touches, making this guest house the truly gracious place it is today.

The view from Clifton House must be seen to be believed. It is the only operating guest house located on the Mississippi Bluff Walk, just steps away from a casino, and from the downtown area with its restaurants and retail.

Post-renovation Clifton House has brand new suites and, of them, our Observatory Suite has the largest square footage and an unsurpassed view of the Mississippi. This suite comprises the entire third floor of the property -- running front to back of the house– and affords both a river view and a view of the Clifton Heights Historic District.

Enjoy spectacular views of the Mississippi, both upriver and down. Watch the sun set over the Mississippi from your private sitting area and its two comfortable swivel rockers plus ottoman. Or enjoy a spectacular view of the river from the comfort of your Tempur-Pedic™ King bed outfitted in Peacock Alley linens, a private bath with Carrara marble throughout, and a couples' shower. A queen-sized sleeper sofa with a Tempur-Pedic™ mattress in the second sitting area at the rear permits this suite to comfortably sleep four, so it's perfect for families traveling together.

Other amenities include a a private bath with Carrara marble, a walk-in couples' shower with teak bench, plenty of closet space, cable TV, and mini bar.

Please note: There is no kitchen onsite. Guests have a private bed and bath, but must share the downstairs living room, dining room, and coffee maker. Guests MUST climb stairs to access the home & their suite.

4/10 Poor

Anne E.

Poor experience
We have stayed at the Clifton house several times, but have never slept in the observatory. We booked this room for our 27th anniversary. We arrived in town early and could not get into our room due to it being cleaned. When we finally got into the room we noticed the entire seating area by the front window was covered with dead wasps and yellow jackets. Some were still alive. On further inspection we noticed the wasps in every area of the room which is rather large. We called in and were moved to the Audubon room. We received a call from Marla who was very friendly. We do love the Clifton house however we're disappointed that the breakfast was not included with the room anymore. I think new management needs to step it up.

8/10 Good

Beautiful house & fabulous location
Your website does need to include a warning to people staying in the observatory suite. The stairs are quite steep and poorly lit! There is a threshold at the door that we nearly tripped on every time we went up or down the stairs. A rather hazardous situation! Not a good room for older folks…
