The Maine Attraction

We traded our annual beach trip for a hiking one this year - and it did not disappoint. The ChaseHouse is well-appointed with everything, from paper towels to hand soap. My adult children stayed in the downstairs bedrooms and my husband and I enjoyed the expansive top floor. We made use of every nook and cranny both inside & outside the home. The couch on the upper level is super comfy, and perfect to stretch out on after a long day of hiking - or to watch TV, play a board game, or read. The kitchen is also stocked with everything needed when away from home. There's even a little park behind the house. We only saw one other family there all week, so it felt like part of the ChaseHouse backyard and my kids used the basketball court there to shoot hoops (we travel with basketball, so bring one if you have ballers). The owner made some dining recommendations - we enjoyed both McKays and Learys. The walkable Otter Creek Market was a hit too. We were enticed by the homemade clam chowder and the butter rum muffins that came fresh out of the oven, so we frequented there a few times. Very convenient having a Cadillac Mountain trail entrance minutes away too. The drive to Bar Harbor was maybe 10-12ish minutes. Not really a big deal to us, as we tend to retreat away from the crowds when we vacation. Highly recommend this property to those who appreciate space to spread out, cleanliness, comfortable furnishings, and an easy check-in / check-out.

Great peaceful stay!

We came in for a weekend of hiking and loved this house. It is incredibly cozy with everything you need, and in a great location. We enjoyed being outside Bar Harbor (but close enough to pop in) and closer to the beautiful park! Loved the claw foot tub upstairs! Great water pressure :)

Memorable experience!! Can’t wait to come back

Our stay here was 10/10. The location was very convenient and there was plenty to do in the apartment for our toddler. If we ever come back up to Acadia I would be lucky to stay here again!

Cottage Days of Old in Beautiful Acadia

Really enjoyed our stay here. The property was exceptionally clean with modern appliances. Wonderfully quaint property which was perfect for our family of 6. We were blessed with a great week of weather and felt we better related to the days of old we read about in the museums of days gone by in the cottage era. Bart was great to deal with, quick to reply to questions and honestly made the whole process of renting a "non-event" so we could enjoy our stay. Will defiantly be back!

Acadia July 2019

This was one of the best vacation rental experiences we have ever had as a family. The Chase House is optimally positioned for exploring Acadia and all of Mount Desert Island. The house is great even on rainy days of books and board games. Would recommend the Chase House highly. As our daughters said when asked what they thought of the house, “It was awesome!”

Great relaxing stay in a comfortable home

The Chase House was a great place to stay. The home was very clean, comfortable and cozy. It was easy to get to a few hikes without having to drive. It was in a quiet neighborhood and it was relaxing to get away from the crowds celebrating in Bar Harbor during the Fourth without it being too far away. We would definitely stay there again.

We stay here every year--comfy and perfect location

We've stayed at the Chase House for a week the past three years. It's delightful--and comfortable, spacious and perfectly located (you can walk to the ocean and to trailheads) and it's less than 10 minutes for Bar Harbor and Seal Harbor. Highly recommend!

Clean and Comfortable Summer Rental

We were very pleased with Chase House and everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Plenty of room with 2 full baths as well as 2 living areas with one on the second floor allowing for separate group activities. The house is comfortable, clean, and pleasantly decorated in warm, home style fashion. We loved the landscaping, especially all of the wild blueberry bushes blended in with the other shrubs and flowers. We couldn't have picked a nicer location with access to nearby hiking trails, views of Acadia's mountains, off the main road but convenient to Bar Harbor and other attractions yet quiet and peaceful. We spent a lot of time just lounging around the house, relaxing and would definitely rent this property again. The Sands Family July 2018.

Enjoyable property with a good location

Our family traveled to Mt. Desert Island for the first time this year. We enjoyed this house very much and the location was convenient to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and the various other harbors. We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend staying here. Mr. Chase was also very willing to discuss the area and give his recommendations for activities and resteraunts.

Awesome for kids!

We loved the Chase house! Bart was great to talk to and had many great recommendations. Our family of 6 loved it here and the location is very central to hiking trails! We had everything we needed. The beds were comfy, soft towels, extra linens available, lots of books and movies available for kids! Beautiful landscaping, cool breezes every evening, even turkeys making their way through the yard! There was also a nice playground and basketball court next door! Thank you Chase family for opening your home to us. Will definitely stay here again.

THIS PROPERTY IS WONDERFUL!!!

Our stay at this property was fantastic! The home is nicely furnished and in an ideal location. Very close proximity to Bar Harbor and all of the Acadia National Park attractions. There is a neighborhood park for the kids around the corner from the house and the cute Otter Creek Market is a short walk away. We will absolutely be returning to this house for our next trip up north!

Delightful, Splendid Accomodations, Great Location!

We came to cross country ski on Acadia's carriage paths and we had a fantastic time. We have been to Acadia many times in the Summer months and this was our first trip in the Winter. We loved the ChaseHouse's warm interior colors, comfortable furnishings, beds and the radiant floor heat kept the house and us toasty warm. We loved the location as well. The Village of Otter Creek and the ChaseHouse sit in the middle of Acadia National Park on a quiet residential street with fantastic views of the South Rim of Cadillac Mountain. Yet, it's less than a 5 minute ride to the center of Bar Harbor. We definitely plan on staying at the ChaseHouse when we revisit in the Summer months.

Great Winter Getaway @ The ChaseHouse

We had a fabulous time cross country skiing on the carriage trails of Acadia Park after the 3 foot snow storm. The ChaseHouse was the perfect spot and accommodations for our crew of 5. The home was warm, cozy and very comfortable. The beds, furnishings and amenities exceeded our expectations. We plan on staying again in the summer and fall seasons.

Loved our Stay at the ChaseHouse

Our family of 6 loved our accommodations at the ChaseHouse. We found the home to be well kept, clean, cheerfully decorated and comfortably furnished. The property is professionally landscaped and we loved picking fresh blue berries from the blue berry patches in the front and side yards. Although we hiked and explored for most of the day, we did not have far to travel anywhere from the ChaseHouse to any spots on the Island. The ChaseHouse is the only village on MDI that is actually within Acadia park's boundaries and its not busy with cars, buses or people like Bar Harbor can be. After a long day hiking it was sure great to come back to the ChaseHouse's comfortable and cozy accommodations to relax and settle in like it was our own "home sweet home."

CHASEHOUSE IS WONDERFULL AND PERFECT LOCATION

We had such a relaxing and time and enjoyed all the comforts of home at the ChaseHouse. Absolutely the perfection location, !! Surrounded by Acadia National Park, in a quiet, beautiful landscaped setting but only 5 minutes from Bar Harbor. Loved the location, the views of Cadillac Mountains, and the Otter Creek Market just a stone's throw away. Thanks to the Chase Family for sharing their home. We look forward to returning every year!!

Perfect House for a great stay!

The house is perfectly located. Less than 5 minutes to the hustle and bustle of down town Bar Harbor and less than a 5 minute walk to a trail to climb Cadillac Mountain made this the ideal spot for us. The house is very clean, nicely decorated and very cozy for relaxing in the evenings. Beds are nice and comfortable. Views of the mountains from the windows are a very nice touch, and if you hit the blueberry season right, there were so many blueberry bushes in the front garden for picking fresh blueberries. Another nice thing is there is a small general store (primarily for campers and locals) that is a two minute walk where you can get most of your eating and drinking necessities without having to make it a special trip (if you want to do a full shopping for a week's stay, you may want to go to the grocery store in Bar Harbor, but the little store is nice to have so close by for eggs, snacks, drinks, etc). If it is your first time visiting Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park, the owners have put together a book that offers suggestions for hikes, restaurants, day trips, etc that they have enjoyed themselves with tips on finding some hidden favorite trails - nice personal touch. Overall, I would definitely recommend this house for your visit to Bar Harbor/Acadia and we hope to come back for another stay.

Fabulous!

The ChaseHouse is gorgeous, cozy, very comfortable, clean and well maintained. We loved the Pottery Barn furnishings, decorations and the open space layout of the second floor and views of the South Rim of Cadillac mountain. The house is in a good location for getting out and exploring Mount Desert Island and Acadia Park and then returning back to peace and quiet. We really appreciated the convenience of its location which was about a 5 minute car ride to and from Bar Harbor - which we found can be very busy and congested. Loved our trip. Thanks so much to the Chase Family for allowing us to stay at your place. Highly recommended.

Wonderful !!!!

My wife and I had a fantastic week at the ChaseHouse. The home was very clean, bright and cozy, and tastefully decorated and furnished. We found the location ideal - less than 5 minutes by car to Bar Harbor where we dined each night, and only minutes by bike or car to the park entrances. And the view from the second floor of Cadillac Mountain is splendid ..... we loved napping on the couch looking out at the south rim of Cadillac and imagined ourselves ontop overlooking Frenchman's Bay as we were the day before. The modern kitchen with granite countertops and butcher block island was a pleasure to cook in, and had all the necessary cooking utensiles found in our own home. We loved our stay at the ChaseHouse and are looking forward to staying again next year. VM, Summit, NJ

Great place to stay

Very comfortable, clean, well maintained, nicely decorated home. Convenient to Bar Harbor and very close to several entrances to Acadia National Park and the loop road that leads to many hiking/biking trails. Highly recommend Otter Cliffs - great place to sit on the rocks and enjoy the beautiful coastline of Maine. We even saw a seal pop out of the water while we were there. Hunters Cliff and beach was our favorite hike as well as Great Head trail near Sand Beach. Unbelievable views. The rocky coast around Bass Harbor Light House was beautiful and great for checking out the tidal pools for small sea creatures. Our favorite activity was biking on the carriage trails. Lots of HILLS but lots of fun! Owners gave us several recommendations for restaurants and activities in the area. Very nice to deal with. We would definitely stay again. The Chase Family has long been connected with Mount Desert Island and Hancock County, Maine. 'Mimi' Chase, the deceased matriarch of the Chase Family, and her husband Robert Woodward, 45 years ago first arrived in Maine from Florham Park, NJ to homestead and stake their roots at Green Lake in Ellsworth Maine. Eventually they purchased a summer cottage on Green Lake's shore edge where they opened their home to their three children and 7 grandchildren in the summer to learn to swim, kayak, fish, build a camp fire, hike and explore Acadia National Park. And just as importantly, to learn to relax with family and friends and to form everlasting memories. Bart, Mimi's youngest son, and his wife Ann, from Summit, NJ, are owners of ChaseHouse. They too have permanently extended their roots and enjoy time spent at their homes on Green Lake and on Mount Desert Island. Bart and Ann and their four children and two black Labrador Retrievers Bhodi and Woogie are adventurous nature loving outdoors people who enjoy extended and short stays throughout the seasons at their homes in Maine to explore the granite Atlantic coast and Acadia Park trails. On any given day the Chase Family, their friends, and invited guests are likely biking, hiking, boating, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, or simply wandering on a new uncharted adventure out and about in Acadia Park, at Green Lake, Schoodic, or elsewhere . If they are not in Acadia Park exploring, they are likely playing bocci ball at the Lompac in Bar Harbor, watching a movie at Reel Pizza, or chill-laxing on the Shore Path dangling their feet over a granite cliff overlooking Frenchman's bay, or lounging on the hammock with Cadillac Mountain in eye sight. The Chase Family is pleased to welcome guests to lodge at the ChaseHouse located in the Village of Otter Creek to spend time on the Island, explore Acadia Park and to experience the many attractions, natural delights, and scenic, relaxing beauty that the Island offers.
