About this property

This cozy ADK home has a beautiful view of Lake Algonquin with 110' of lakefront property.The master bedroom has a Stickley bedroom set with ceiling fan and private 1/2 bath. The second bedroom has a great view of the lake with a full bath, including a deep tub across the hall! The great room with oak dining table at one end has cozy furniture on the other to watch the flat screened TV with a ROKU, lots free or bring your paswords anduse your TV lists. So you can get your e-mail or use the wifi.
There is a nice romantic gas stove in the living room for chilly nights! In the Sunroom there's a queen size pull out couch with gorgeous lake views . The kitchen is fully equipped with a refridgerator,dishwasher,microwave, stove and coffee maker, dishware and cookware. There's an attractive screened in porch, as well as an outside deck to set and relax,read a good book, or take a soothing nap.Nice fire pit outside! The granite steps lead down to the private dock where we supply kayaks or a canoe to explore the lake. Additionally We are dog lovers! There is a nicely fenced in area for your pooch to frolic and play! This is a four season home. The summers are spectacular but so is the Fall foliage season and we especially Love Winter! We enjoy to cross country ski and snowshoe from here. We are adjacent to the NYS snowmobile trail system. Gore Mnt ski center is a 40min direct drive and Oak Mnt Ski Center is 15 minutes north in Speculator. We also love to cross country ski and snowshoe here or go to Lap Land Lake 20 minutes south in Benson. After a long day of activities there is a gas wood stove to relax by

Perfect lake house

The house and location are even better than the pictures. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful. It was the perfect get away with our pooch. The fenced area is so convenient. The house itself is so cozy and has everything you could possibly need and lots of extras. We’re hoping to go back in the summer and really enjoy the lake.

Cozy Cabin

We loved staying here. The place is so cozy for the rainy weather we had. Our favorite part was still the sunroom though! Check in was easy and Debby kept the lights on for us for our late arrival. We would love to come back again!

Fall Getaway

My wife and I rented this home to see the fall foliage in the area. The house was perfect for us. It had everything we needed and it was in such a peaceful setting. The owners were great in communicating with us and made sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this rental.

Debby and Mark are excellent hosts! The house was in pristine condition and had everything we needed. We stayed for 2 weeks and cooked most of our meals there. Love the lake life at Northern Exposure!

Tranquility at the Lake

My husband and I spent a very peaceful and relaxing week at Northern Exposure. The hosts were responsive and helpful. The house was fully stocked with everything you could need. It was very clean and comfortable. We were thankful for the central AC since it was a hot week. The lake was perfect for fishing and kayaking. The area has many hiking trails, two country stores on each end of Wells. Took a day trip to Speculator and enjoyed beautiful lake views at Lake Pleasant. We’re looking forward to coming back. Thank you for sharing your vacation house.

Christmas at the lake

I wanted to do something different with my husband and daughter for Christmas. All three of us agreed the setting and home were ideal ! I packed a small tree and some ornaments and when we walked in there stood a tree and the entire cabin was done for winter/Christmas. So cozy, so picturesque ! It was a wonderful fun trip. I never met Deb but felt like I knew her, a good vibe. I was sending pictures as if she never saw her home😀

Wonderful cabin and great quiet location

We had a great time! The house had all the amenities and was very nicely decorated. We loved kayaking the lake and river. We also did a few nice hikes. Deb was great to deal with and very responsive. Can’t wait to come back next year!!!

Serene lakeside getaway

We were so pleased with our stay! Deborah and Mark are excellent, highly responsive hosts and made us very welcome. We found everything we needed and more at Northern Exposure. There were thoughtful touches everywhere: leashes and a dog crate in case you forgot one for your furry friend, bandages in the medicine cabinets, plenty of extra blankets for chilly evenings. We messed up and forgot to put the trash out the night before and when we let them know, Mark was on the spot and took care of it right away — still feel bad about that, but it certainly shows what terrific hosts they are. Wells is quiet and out of the way, a perfect spot to unplug, unwind, and enjoy the Adirondacks. Deborah and Mark made it easy. Thank you for sharing your lovely property with us!

Wonderful Lakeside Home

We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to the Adirondacks and our stay at this lovely lakeside home made it perfect! The home was very comfortable, extremely clean and while there it was like we had discovered a "slice of heaven" ... from the early morning mist on the lake to sitting around the fire pit watching the moon rise. Delightful! We can't wait to return next year.

Cozy Cabin

Debby was a great host and also very thoughtful. We went up to ski for my daughters birthday and Debby put up a birthday banner for her which was so thoughtful. The house had everything you needed and Debby was always available if we had a question. My kids and Husband loved it and could not wait to get back to the house after a day of skiing.

Cozy house close to skiing

This is a sweet and cozy house close to both Oak and Gore Mountains - and convenient to the local store with yummy breakfast sandwiches! Our family skied all three days we stayed - and enjoyed the selection of board games and well equipped kitchen. Debby was very responsive and helpful!

Beautiful lake house and wonderful hosts!

It’s a beautiful cabin with amazing views. The hosts are very thoughtful made sure we had everything we need and they even had holiday cookies waiting for us. I bet summer here would be awesome. There’s a ski place close by too. We enjoyed staying here.

Absolutely charming little lake home!

I cannot say enough good things about this home. The lake view is amazing, the amenities are well thought out and make you feel right at home, and the fenced in area for the pups is great. I can’t wait to go back in the summer months to enjoy the fire pit and lake!

Fall getaway

We enjoyed four comfortable cozy days and nights at Northern Exposure. The house has a lovely retro camp feel but is so well cared for and kept up. The outdoor fire pit overlooking the lake is just so relaxing. A true gem. I highly recommend this Adirondack rental.

Ultimate Adirondack experience

Mark and Debby’s ‘Northern Exposure’ cottage is the perfect Adirondack get-away. It could be the set for a romantic north woods movie, and has all the charm and amenities anyone could wish for. Plus it is cozy, comfortable, and clean - very clean. And there are homemade ‘moose cookies’ on the table when you arrive. Five stars +.

We live on lake Algonquin too! Our home is at the other end of the Lake just 1 1/2 mile away, so if there are any questions or problems we are here to help!
Mark is an avid water skiier! There is a AWSA demensioned slalom course at the south end of the lake!

Why they chose this property

We have enjoyed this lake for over 20yrs and decided to invest in this wonderful property when it became available because of the quality of the building and setting.

What makes this property unique

We love lake Algonquin because of the mountain views and the experience of the quaint town. It is not commercialized like other lakes in the Adirondacks. The lake is calm and easy to kayak and canoe on. There are beautiful eagles flying over head and tiny humming birds at the feeders. It is close enough to attractions for day trips but we can also come back to the peace and tranquility we love! The building is well done with wood floors and great windows, the bathrooms and kitchen are clean and up to date. We even have central air and a backup generator so you are always comfortable and at ease.
