Love this place!

This wasn't my first time staying in Fredericksburg, or at Das Eck Haus...but it's my favorite home away from home!

Great rustic getaway!

Fun rustic log cabin with a fantastic view, close to town but off the beaten path. Loved the big tub, wine & talking on the front porch in the evening and coffee in the morning.

Perfect location, beautiful place

My husband and I loved our new years and anniversary stay here. We had a fire in the fireplace one night and enjoyed a relaxing bath the next! We also enjoyed being so close to Main Street and the shops…. Just a wonderful weekend away experience!

Neat Vacation Spot

Loved location and ambience of property Will definitely visit again Couple of suggestions: seemed to be a small electrical problem with kitchen light and jet-tub(jets turned off abruptly) Shades in bedrooms would improve chances of sleeping late Thank you for a great get-a-way!

Quiet and cozy get away

We really enjoyed the stay with our family of 5. The cabin is quaint and cozy and in a quiet area of town. We arrived and first thing saw a buck across the street in the pasture and enjoyed sitting on the porch with a nice beverage. Our daughters and my husband have already said when we visit again we will check availability here first.

Girls getaway

The cabin was perfect. We were looking for a quiet time with peaceful surroundings. When not checking out the great town of Fredericksburg, we enjoyed sitting on the porch with the funny momma cardinal flitting back and forth protecting her nest. The view of the cattle grazing in the pasture across the street was so relaxing. Great cabin. I highly recommend it.

Cozy Cabin

Cozy, adorable and comfy! Great cabin! My family and I loved staying in this adorable cabin. The location is perfect and the views from porch are amazing! We even had cows come to visit us and greet us with a moo! My only recommendation for the property owner would be to buy new linens ; the towels and sheets need to be replaced. Other than that, highly recommend!

Awesome!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Das Eck Haus! It is charming. The location is great. Its not as close to downtown shopping as I thought but the tranquility and country side is so nice. I wish we hadn't been so busy and we could have enjoyed the cabin more. The decor is great. There was just two of us but the place would sleep 4 comfortably. it would be a great girls weekend place. We will definitly be back. I have found a place I will return to every time we visit Fredricksburg.

Cozy but silent

We had a great stay. Very comfortable and cozy cabin they got. Not far from the main thoroughfare or the attractions in town, but it also felt very private, even like being out in the country. We were discussing all weekend whether it was renovated or built to look old fashioned. Either way, we would stay there again. The only thing I didn't love was that I had practically no communication with the managers. I hope my messages got through, but haven't gotten any responses. The only communication I got seemed like an automatic message or standardized email. However, all the information I did receive was 100% correct and we had no issues getting in or any trouble with the property. If you're looking for a cozy and (practically) secluded cabin with absolutely zero interference from the owners, I highly recommend Das Eck Haus.

Perfect Quiet Getaway for Fredericksburg

This cabin really had everything we were wanting. No cars whizzing by all hours of the night. Beautiful hill country views to wake up to! Two bathrooms are great! The jacuzzi tub was really nice and clean (with the exception that it jus stops after about 20 mins to reset I guess), love that a shower is provided unlike other b&b's that make you take a bath in the morning. Would have been nice to have a mirror in the jacuzzi room to provide a good vanity. Was warm. It's much like renting a condo where we had to provide many things like the starter logs, food etc... They provide coffee, but it's Folger's :(. The water gets hard really quick in the coffee maker so bring your own water if that bothers you. The water in the cabin tastes just fine. One thing that was kind of a bummer for my husband is that the footboard on the bed downstairs was too short for him (he's only 6'1") and we did not want to mess up the other bed to sleep in since it was just the 2 of us. Next time we'll sleep upstairs. I say next time, because I really think we found the perfect place! Close enough to walk to town if you want some good exercise. This cabin is very thoughtfully put together! Nothing is ever perfect, but this is about as close as it gets! OH... and they leave you alone which is really nice! I've already recommended it to a few people we met in town and at wineries and a few friends.

Cute cabin, but...

The cabin itself is adorable, however...the owner failed to mention in the description that there are gaping holes all over the cabin from wood that has warped over time. Due to this, the cabin cannot seem to make it under 78-80* during the day. In the middle of the night around 2 or 3am, the cabin will reach a comfortable 70*. We spent over $600 for 2 nights and my son could not even sleep in the upstairs loft due to my fear of him overheating. I had my son sleep with me in the bedroom right under the fan. My husband took the recliner, positioned it right next to a vent in the living room and fashioned a sheet over the vent and over himself in the recliner creating a cooled off space for him to sleep. In addition to all of this, the couch is hard as a rock and looks like it was purchased for $10 from the local thrift shop. The recliner was old, but comfortable enough. The dining room table was not stable and shook/wobbled constantly when in use. Bottom line: I love staying in rustic cabins in beautiful towns like Fredericksburg. I've stayed in my share of these type places via VRBO and others - i've really loved them all, except this place. We have spent the entire summer taking care of my dad post surgery and wanted a relaxing weekend. We couldn't even all hang out together in the living room because no one could get comfortable in the HOT, terribly furnished room. ALSO, if you drive a car, DO NOT park in the drive way. My husband's car is all scraped due to slope.

Would Recommend

The location is close enough to downtown to enjoy the shops, good restaurants, and music, but far enough to give the feeling of being in the countryside. We had two Cardinals visit us every day and our last morning there we had three deers run past the bedroom window.

Ambiance great! Comfort Fair!

The cabin was great with plenty of room and lots of ambiance, however, some things really need to be changed. The dining table wobbled terribly and most drinks would be everywhere. The kitchen has an old refrigerator (Kelvinator) ,that fits the time period, but runs much too loud (compressor). The fan in the master bedroom is really noisy and could not be used making it stuffy in there. The beds were not comfortable at all. The mattresses, although soft, were not comfortable and if you have any back problems, stay away. Finally, the furniture in the living room (couch and chair), fit the time period, however, was completely junk and you couldn't sit very long. as there was no padding in them at all. My suggestion is that a Bed and Breakfast need ambiance, but most of all, IT MUST BE COMFORTABLE!! This cabin would have been great, but the lack of physical comfort makes this my first negative review of a bed and breakfast. Address these issues to move from a three to five star review.

Cutest little cabin! Great location for those wanting to explore downtown Fredericksburg. We cannot get over the aesthetic of the cabin itself. My partner felt that it was the perfect spot for a proposal! We will definitely be returning next year.

Little Log Cabin

Charming setting. Coffee every morning on the front porch with the quiet, serene view was our most favorite thing about the place. The bedroom bathroom on the main floor really needs a sink of it’s own. Sharing the hallway sink bathroom was an inconvenience. The curtains were too thin/transparent for privacy at night and early morning light… this is an easy fix with mini-blinds or light blocking new curtains. That said, we had a wonderful time in the little log cabin. The location was close to all attractions, restaurants and Main Street. The peaceful, back-in-time, atmosphere was unrivaled.
