About this property

Spindle Point - Charming Winnipesaukee Lakeside Home (Nh)

Camp Spindle is an authentic example of the camp style homes of Winnipesaukee. We have incredible lake views from every room in the house. Our home is located at the end of a gorgeous peninsula on Lake Winnipesaukee and features a 40’ stone lighthouse built in 1892.

7 day minum stay (Saturday to Saturday) but please let us if your stay is shorter. Enjoy the sunrise on the 40’ dock and the sunset from Adirondack chairs out in the yard or down at the Lighthouse.

Catch up on reading and enjoy the breeze at the point or enjoy lunch at the picnic table unde the pine trees.

The generous screen porch provides a shady spot to enjoy the day.

Watch the 230’ excursion boat Mt. Washington cruise by day and night, enjoy spectacular firework displays from the house, gaze out upon Gunstock Mountain and Red Hill, look skywards to spot the bald eagles, or listen to the beautiful call of the loon.

Swim, fish or sit in the sun and relax down at the dock or stroll down the pine needle-covered pathway to the Point where you are surrounded by incredible mountain and lake views. Once at the Lighthouse you can swim in a sandy bottom, shallow cove or watch the sunset across the bay.

Notes:

As you make your packing list be sure to bring sheets (2 queen, 2 twin and 1 full) and towels. We provide pillows and blankets and have found over the years this works well.

The kitchen has the basics. Coffeemaker, blender, utensils, cookie sheets, glass tupperware, pots & pans, measuring cups, knives, stainless steel mixing bowls, etc...

We do NOT have a washer or dryer. Laundry can be done in town at the Meredith Laundromat and Tanning located at 71 NH 104; Meredith, NH 0325 ( https://meredithlaundromatandtanning.com/ ).

We have 2 kayaks, 2 paddles and 2 preservers for your use. If you require more water sport items like stand up paddle boards, canoes, or additional kayaks you can rent them from Ekal ( http://www.ekalactivitycenter.com/), in Meredith, Parafunalia, in Gilford ( https://www.parafunalia.com) and Wild Meadow Paddle Sports, in center Harbor (https://www.wildmeadowpaddlesports.com). Wild Meadow Paddle Sports will deliver rental equipment. Please speak to Steve or one of his associates for more details.

We draw water from the lake so bottled water is needed for drinking and cooking.

One of a kind, beautiful setting!

Beautiful setting, magical water for swimming with kids especially enjoying both sides of the point depending on waves and wind, and the house and yard are so well-cared for, obviously a labor of love by the welcoming hosts, Tom and Marcy

Best location on the lake

Check in was as expected. Surrounded on 3 sides be crystal clear water. Surprised to find it sandy on the point with the lighthouse. If you like relaxing and love boat watching honestly the best spot on the lake. House has plenty of room. Thank you for a great vacation

Summer of Covid retreat

What a perfect week we had at the lake! The property is gorgeous. All that was missing was a fire pit for the cool evenings lakeside! Cabin was a bit more rustic/original than I expected for the price but it was comfortable. The dock fit our rental pontoon great and we had a great time forgetting about the worries of the real world. Thank you!

Amazing lake house

Our second stay at Spindle Point was as great as our first. The house is cozy, has everything you need, and is spotless. The property itself is one of a kind--lake on three sides, clear water, sandy bottom with a protected area for swimming, and great boat watching. Tom and Marcy are very responsive hosts and made sure everything was perfect. Hope we can come for another stay soon!

Great week with the family

This cabin is out on a narrow peninsula with everything we needed. Comfortable beds and a Winnipesaukee location that can't be beat. Eagle, loons, squirrels, birds, ducks...fireworks across the bay on Saturdays in mid-summer. Even weathered Isaias storm well. We had a great week. Tom and Marcy were the right amount of responsive and greeted us to get us settled. Would definitely recommend a stay at Spindle Point.

Magical spot

This is a wonderful spot. With the lake on three sides of the house, it almost feels like being on a boat! Our kids loved hanging out at the tip of the property by the lighthouse. The house is super comfortable, and Tom and Marcy are very attentive and helpful hosts, and have equipped the house with everything you need. The WiFi is very good, and enabled us to work/school remotely while enjoying a beautiful spot. There are many things to do nearby, and kayaking and swimming on the lake is sublime. The house is also convenient to food stores, shopping and restaurants. It’s a quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors. We’d love to go back!

The perfect lake house

This house has everything anyone could want in a Winnipesaukee vacation home. The porch is gorgeous for eating and relaxing, and looking over the point of land and water on three sides feels like you're on your own private island. The swimming is excellent, with one side shallower and calm and the other side slightly deeper and wavier. And how fun to relax in the sun under that historic observatory! The house itself was very clean, with comfortable furniture, all the basics for cooking and on warm evenings the whole house fan is such a bonus. Thank you Marcy for sharing your home with us and being such a gracious host--we hope to be back again!

Beautiful one of a kind

Superb ambience. Aesthetically in a class all its own. Most enjoyable stay. As usual, too short. One recommendation: for those of us past 3/4s of a century and young ones, ingress and egress to the water would be significantly enhanced with the addition of steps/ladder, removable or permanent, from the dock.

location location location!

what makes this property special...is that you are literally "on a point"...there is water virtually ALL around you...this is a very special and unusual opportunity to stay at a property like this...and its great for kids as there are sandy spots (that stay relatively shallow) all around they point - so its just wonderful, kid-size swimming. (just remember to bring water shoes!).

Beautiful location and charming cabin

My kids and I loved staying at Spindle Point. The property itself was ideal in that it felt completely isolated and had gorgeous views of the lake. The area offered tons of fun summertime activities for the kids. If you're like me and prefer a 60s style cabin to a modern house when hitting the lake, then you can't go wrong at this place.

Charming Lake Getaway

We had such a wonderful time staying at Spindle Point! The house is on a peninsula and you literally are surrounded by water. We had gorgeous views of the sunset every evening while sitting out enjoying drinks in the backyard overlooking our own private lighthouse. The accommodations were perfect - cozy, inviting, obviously very well-maintained. There is so much to do in the area - we went on multiple hikes and enjoyed exploring the town. We are already talking about staying here again! Highly recommend it - you will love it!

A peaceful place with a beautiful view!

After a hectic work week, I was looking forward to this mini getaway! The directions were easy enough to find and upon arrival, I took a big sigh. The place is just what I said on the title a peaceful place. I enjoyed every moment spent there. The house is beautiful and you can tell the owners do an immaculate job on keeping the property up to date. The lighthouse is just the icing on the cake to sit and watch the beautiful sunset or sunrise. I can go on and on but you have to really experience this on your own and I can bet you won't regret it. I will definitely be back again real soon!

Paradise found in NH

I have travelled a lot but have never stayed in a place so incredibly serene and relaxing. From every window you see water and hear waves lapping against the rocks. To say the view from the point is beautiful is an understatement. We all felt we were on our own private island.(Even though it is a peninsula!) Two of us fell asleep sitting on the rocks, leaning on the lighthouse. The house is quite appealing, rustic and charming, and clean with a spacious great room and screened porch. There was not a bad seat in the house. We brought our 17' boat, launched from Shep's, and docked it at the house's newly built dock. It was so convenient to travel around the lake to the various towns for shopping and dining. Barely used our car all week. I highly recommend this house if you're looking for something very unique, private and relaxing!
