Pleasantly Understated

We came to Salem to enjoy the fall scenery, Halloween with our adult children, and for the perfectly planned out surprise engagement of our youngest son. The location of this impeccable property couldn’t have been better. The tour guides of the area describe the home’s location as the most beautiful street in America and we agree. The layout of the home suited our family perfectly with 4 comfortable bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms for all, and amazingly appointed gathering areas. The attention to detail in this home surpasses any we’ve ever stayed in. The craftsmanship of the home is superb. The decorating is eclectic and magical at the same time. The hosts were extremely attentive and kind. The listing on VRBO doesn’t fully explain the magnificence of this home. We would love to return and soon! We can’t recommend highly enough.

Amazing!

We absolutely loved this house! It was just as gorgeous as the photos and the location was perfect! Only a short walk (10-15 minutes) to downtown and very quiet at night, which was appreciated for a group that was all 50+ years of age. The artwork was everything that we expected based on the description. There was a lot of time and effort put into the interior decorating and the outside living space was very nice as well. We would recommend this house to anyone! The owners were very easy to contact and very helpful! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

The most perfect Salem home

My family and our friends family stayed for a long weekend at Larry and Denise’s home. To say how beautiful the inside of their home is quite the understatement. The artwork throughout the house is amazing…and we loved the multiple spaces on the first floor. The exterior courtyard was stunning and we all enjoyed going outside. Larry and Denise were always responsive and beyond accommodating. We can’t say enough nice things about how perfect the stay and house was for us. We definitely would love to return in the future!

Awesome Location, Beautiful Home

The pictures do not do this house justice. This a gorgeous, spacious home that was in a fantastic location for everything we wanted to do. We were even sort of part of the trolley tour. The bedrooms were very spacious and most of the beds were comfortable. There was one bed up in the attic that was falling apart, so I don't recommend sleeping on the small one in the corner, but the rest of the beds were very comfortable. The backyard served as a lovely space for morning tea and coffee and drinks in the evening. We were literally a block away from Ropes Mansion. The location was super convenient and we did not need a car to explore downtown Salem. The hiccups: We had trouble getting into the house because we did not receive the instructions. It took multiple attempts to get a hold of the property manager/ owner listed. This was frustrating, but after about 30-45 min we were able to get in contact and access the house. Shower on the 3rd floor only had hot water which was great for those who like scalding showers, not so great for the rest of us. There are plenty of other showers and baths, however, so it really wasn't a problem. Overall, the house was amazing and I would definitely stay there again.

The best house in Salem.

Our stay at Denise and Larry's Chesnut Street home was nothing short of amazing. Our jaws dropped when we walked in. The home took our breath away as we had never been in ANY home this nice. We spent an hour taking pictures and walking around each room admiring the art. It was almost a game/scavenger hunt to see what we recognized. We had no issue accommodating all 7 guests as there was a ton of space/rooms/beds. The lighting in each room was like a museum, even in the bathrooms. The master toilet blew our minds. The beds were very comfortable. We also enjoyed hanging in the cozy kitchen area overlooking the garden/church. This rental home was the highlight of our stay in Salem. It was the quintessential Salem mansion that we dreamt of. If we ever come back, we would book in a heartbeat if its available. Thank you!!

A Salem Gem

We loved our stay on a quiet affluent street in Salem. Everything about this house (inside and out) is gorgeous. The artwork inside is stunning. Felt like sleeping inside of a gallery/museum. Home owners are responsive and quick to get back to any questions you may have. Would give more than 5 stars if I could! Would visit again in a heartbeat.
