About this property

Family-friendly Villa at Bottom Bay, St. Philip, Barbados

Our villa is situated about 250 yards from beautiful Bottom Bay Beach, which is one of the most photographed beaches in the world. Enjoy the cooling, Atlantic breezes as you stroll along the secluded beaches which you will have to yourself most of the time. Then return to the villa where you can enjoy a swim in the pool and a cocktail or glass of wine on the deck, check your social media with free Wi-Fi and watch the sunset over the ocean while listening to the sounds of crickets and whistling frogs. Villa has a large patio with BBQ, four garden chairs and three loungers.
Shopping and Services: Emerald City Shopping Centre is 10 minutes drive away and includes a well-stocked supermarket, a bank, an automated teller machine, a pharmacy, an internet cafe, video rental, a post office, a gas station and Chefette with children's play area.

Other Attractions: Our villa is situated about 25 minutes drive to Bridgetown. It is about 20 minutes from St. Lawrence Gap which has a wide selection of restaurants and nightlife. Among the interesting activities are, a visit to one of the oldest plantation houses, Sunbury Plantation, a tour of artifacts at the Barbados Museum and the recently renovated Harrison Caves. The scenic East Coast is just a short drive up the coast to Bathsheba and the well-appointed Andromeda Gardens.

Beautiful Property!!!
The Bottom Bay Family Villa is a great choice if you want a peaceful retreat with easy beach access. Its proximity to Bottom Bay Beach is a significant advantage, offering both convenience and a beautiful setting. The villa’s amenities and family-friendly features should make for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Barbados.

Beautiful property!
Overall this is a great house/property to stay at and it exceeded our expectations. being our first time on the island, we had zero clue what we were doing but the owner and property manager were great to work with. This house is beautiful, comfortable and held a couple of surprises (the monkeys being one of them). The distance to the beautiful beach area is walkable, but we were lazy and drove the 1/4 mile and there was plenty of parking. There are a lot of steps to get down to the beach and I'd pass on the coconut drinks. If you prefer a more secluded, quieter vacation this is the way to go. you do need to be a bit adventurous to make the drive and yes you need a car. The only drawback is that if you plan to self cater/cook for yourself, you need to purchase everything so plan accordingly. And bring your firestick/roku. We hope to come back in the future.

nice villa to relax, next to a great beach
Property is in a nice and qiet neighborhood, just a 5 min walk to bottom bay beach. We had all what we needed. Pool was really nice and relaxing. Only negative thing is the backyard. Internet Pictures doesn`t show the reality, didn`t look as green as on pictures. Very sad.

Great location. Furnishings are a bit dated.
The view from the patio was outstanding. However the furnishings were dated and overall the house could do with a bit of an upgrade.

The villa is very clean and comfortable!
Bottom Bay beach is in walking distance of the villa -- very beautiful with wonderful coconut palms swaying in the Atlantic breezes. The area is quiet and offers a peaceful alternative to the more touristy areas. I will definitely return for another visit!

Nice Detached Bungalow close to Bottom Bay Beach
We had a pleasant relaxing holiday in a comfortable bungalow having most of the facilities we required. The location is relatively quiet, but not isolated and had no problems getting a good nights sleep. The 3 bedrooms and kitchen are a good size, the lounge/dining room is a bit cluttered, having either too much furniture or too little space. The main criticism is like some other rental properties we have stayed, it suffers from a lack of maintenance, for instance the en-suite shower cubicle floor was covered in sand and congealed soap, whilst the shower head was corroded and covered in limescale, meaning only a dribble of water was emitted. At our request the shower head was replaced and we cleaned the cubicle floor which made the world of difference. Other points of note are the oven takes between 30 and 40 minutes to warm up, which we lost patience with and cooked everything on the hob in a pan. The 19" television is a bit small a leaving me with eye strain and a headache after an evenings viewing, younger guests would not have this problem. The property was not presented in a very clean state, the floors were dusty and the windows difficult to see through, the vacuum cleaner filter was clogged solid, allowing very little suction through it, I emptied the filter, then was able to clean the floors, so that bare feet didn't pick up dust and particles. Would I recommend this bungalow, yes it is basically a comfortable holiday home in a nice location and with a small amount of TLC would earn 5 stars.

Quite a basic property for the money
Really enjoyed Barbados. The property was adequate for our needs (quite basic). We could only use the BBQ once as there was a problem and a part needed to be ordered and unfortunately due to Christmas period did not arrive before we left. We were due to vacate the property by 12 noon and our return flight was 8 pm, I contacted the owner and asked if we could stay until 5 pm . As she didn't have anybody arriving until the following week she allowed us to stay until 5 pm without any extra cost which was extremely kind) and we were very grateful. The pool was cleaned twice during our stay and the gardener called once. The bedding was changed twice. The cleaner Jean was lovely, very happy and extremely good at her job. We found the Bejans very polite and caring. Definitely visit Barbados again. We had arranged a hired car which I think is essential. I would recommend a trip on catamaran. The sea is beautiful and warm.

Really good - highly recommended
We rented the villa for 10 days in Aug 2015, and it was perfect. The weather was very hot and we found the plunge pool ideal - we were constantly going for dips to cool off, and play "Marco Polo", of course. The 3 bedrooms are air conditioned, but the main room is not. We opened the front and back doors, and got a nice breeze doing to keep cool. The kitchen is great for self-catering; you can get groceries from Emerald City at Six Roads on your way to Bottom Bay. A taxi from the airport will take you there and wait for you, although it might double the price from the regular $40 Barbadian. Or take the bus. The villa is quite and relaxing. The back patio is shaded and perfect, and the plunge pool is fantastic. Bottom Bay is a 5 minute walk down the road. Its a really nice beach. Or follow the rough road to the east towards the "ruins" to find Harrismith beach. Or head from the Harrismith ruins towards a yellow roofed house to find a great little beach with a small reef creating a lagoon - even nicer. We used the buses quite a bit. The bus stop is at the top of the hill, about a 10 minute walk from the villa. Buses go to Bridgetown via Six Roads/Emerald City (route #10, "Bridgetown") or to the south coast (route #12, "Sam Lords Castle"). The latter is a bit slower, but will take you to Shark Hole, Crane, the airport, and Oistins as well as the south coast beaches towards Bridgetown. We went to all of these and it was great. Oistins has the "Fish Fry" where you can get great food. Buses are $2 local/$1 USD. Blue buses need exact change. The others will give your change. Try them - you get to see a different side of Barbados. We also rented a car for a couple of days from Stoutes Car Rental. We got a Suzuki soft-top (which we removed) jeep for $200US for 2 days. They will drop off and pick up from the villa - makes it very easy. Anyway, back to the villa. The south-east coast is much less touristy than the West, and if you want a more authentic, restful time, this villa is ideal. Wendy is very helpful and quick in getting back to you. Jan and John look after the place locally, and a very friendly and helpful. As someone else here says: stop searching and book the place! ps. The regular guy selling coconut drinks at the top of the steps to Bottom Bay is "Keo", and he's a good guy. Don't be intimidated and buy that coconut!

Beautiful views
Villa is pretty easy to find and only 15 mins from the airport. Lovely to be welcomed to the house by John. Who showed us everything and where to find places round the island. The view was the best thing about staying here. To wake up each morning and see the ocean was pretty special. The wind coming off the ocean was extremely welcoming and it saved on putting the air con on! Bottom bay, which is 2-3min walk away is beautiful and hardly anyone was on it. But only suitable to paddle. Initially we thought we were pretty remote but we actually appreciated the quietness of it all and how safe we felt (friends were shocked we sat with the front door open in the evening!) plus everything only takes 20-30 mins to get to, six roads roundabout was so helpful and led us to the places we wanted to get to. There is a supermarket there but shop savvy, some things are reasonable and some things are very expensive as obviously having to import things. During our stay we were lucky to be there for the Kadooment crop over carnival. Was a great experience. We visited Oistins fish fry evening, queue for the food rather than sit down and be served, we made that mistake and waited forever for our food! A visit to The Crane is a must, beautiful beach and the hotel is lovely too. The service at the Italian restaurant was brilliant. We also ate at Tapas in Hastings, which was very delicious and reasonably priced. Lovely to eat by the beach too. Also recommend Elegance catamaran cruises. They only have 14 guests on board and good sized boat. They were extremely attentive and were so good with our 6 year old. Head off to the west for the best beaches. We only had time to visit a few but Paynes beach and Mullins were very nice. What is great about Barbados is that it's not over commercialised and trying to appeal to westerners. It is what it is. Felt very relaxed and very safe and people are always willing to help. I would recommend this villa if you want to get away from it all and want breathtaking views. It felt like paradise with the coconut trees in the garden. The pool was great to have and got our son swimming properly. We got used to the bugs and the visitors in the pool including crabs and a frog! The villa is well equipped and has everything you need. Wendy was really helpful and answered any strange questions we had! Plus we knew that John was only at the end of the phone or end of the road if we needed anything. Thanks for allowing us to stay.

Amazing!!
The property is the perfect little house. We had 3 couples stay in it and had tons of space. Kitchen was great for cooking up all of our meals in house when we didn't find some great local food. How close the house is to Bottom Bay Beach is unbelievable. Was by far the most relaxing vacation we have ever taken and will be back very soon.

Voyage extraordinaire....

Wonderful Vacation Villa
We absolutely loved your villa and the Bottom Bay area. It is SO peaceful there. This is the vacation we were looking for. We loved the personal pool and we also loved being so close to 3 bays/beaches. Everyday was a nice warm sunny day. The villa is located only a 15 to 20 minute drive from the airport. It is also close to Six Roads shopping area where we picked up our groceries and filled the rental car with gas. The grocery store is only 10 minutes from the villa. We rented a car and went out for daily drives around the island. The east coast of the island is beautiful. It has a mountainous terrain and is next to the Atlantic Ocean. This is a great place for picture oppotunities. I did have to learn how to drive on the left side of the road as they do in Barbados. We are from the United States and we drive on the right side of the road. That took a little adjustment for me, but wasn't bad at all. Also, John and Jan (property managers) were both so helpful with anything we needed at the villa and with general Barbados information. They are an asset to the small community on Atlantic Rising. Thank you so much for providing your villa for rent. We will be back...and we will rent your villa again. Looking forward to the next time.

Vacation in the villa.
This was a great vacation home. It was close to transportation and easy to get to Bridgetown. The property managers were excellent and provided a lot of assistance. The property is well kept and the accommodations are beautiful. Overall, I would recommend this property to anyone. The pool was an added bonus to the villa. I loved it and would recommend staying there in the future.

Beautiful Bottom Bay
Lovely, clean, well-maintained vacation accomodation. Custom, modern kitchen was the perfect size & a welcome option for preparing meals. Warm, welcoming interior and attractive neutral decor were a lovely setting in which to spend time in lovely Barbados. Backyard and pool were also lovely, and the pool was nice for a cool dip on a day when one may not be visiting one of the beaches nearby. Bus stop within walking distance but uphill - a good bit of exercise; the ride to Bridgetown is about 45 minutes but picturesque. Villa's proximity and fairly direct route from airport also make airport car rental pick-up amenable. Property managers are helpful on-site and owner is very professional. Overall, a great stay!

Currently live in Alberta, Canada and spend two months each year at my villa in Barbados.

Why they chose this property

Spent a holiday in the East Coast and fell in love with the rugged nature of this part of the island. It is not over-developed like the West and South Coasts. Decided to purchase this villa in Bottom Bay.

What makes this property unique

The traveller will like the quiet surroundings. The views from the back patio of the blue-green Atlantic as the waves roll in to shore and crash against the rocks.
