This unique property situated on the shore of Lake Superior, provides guests with both a cozy indoor spaces and immediate access to the natural surroundings found out either front or back doors. This is an opportunity to experience Lake Superior. Its not just a place to stay. The home is designed to easily accommodate a group or family, featuring 4 bedrooms with beds for 9, two full bathrooms and one half-bathroom. It's also our home, where our son spent the first 5 years of life.
The western facing position almost ensures a beautiful sunset, no matter the season. The dark skies of the Keweenaw never fail to impress on a clear night and if you're lucky you might even see some Northern Lights. You'll enjoy convenient access to nature; in additon to the lake there are hiking or snowshoeing trails just an 1/8th of a mile down the road and in the summer time, a hike down the beach to the lagoon makes you feel that you've traveled much further than just 1/4 mile. Many fish have been caught both from shore and at the lagoon. We started to feel bad that we were hogging the experience all for ourselves.
We updated the interior to provide a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, with well-appointed furnishings and modern amenities. The open layout of the common areas facilitates socializing and relaxation. The kitchen is equipped with essential appliances and utensils, enabling guests to prepare meals.
No matter whether you're seeking a quiet escape to relax on the couch or choose to spend time exploring the surrounding nature, you will have an unforgettable experience with your front row seats on Lake Superior. Keep quiet in the morning and you might see a bald eagle on his tree perch outside the window as the lake change colors. We are happy to share this incredible experience with others. We love the Keweenaw deeply and are happy to help with planning additional activities on the Peninsula.

My husband and I and our skiing friends came up to Calumet for the great bear chase ski marathon. The house was absolutely perfect for our group. It was extremely comfortable, very clean, and had a coziness and warmth that we all enjoyed. Big windows that looked out onto the partially frozen lake. We saw a wolf out in the distance, walking on the ice on the lake one morning. It was a perfect place for us to stay. We had a fabulous weekend and we hope to come back next year. Stephanie was very good at communicating with me and everything was perfect.
this place is incredible. Probably the best vrbo we've ever stayed at. so comfortable, well stocked. the view is out of this world. Thank you Stephanie.
We stayed here in December. Came to our nephews graduation from Michigan Tech. It was about a 30 minute drive from Houghton but so worth it. The hose was so clean, beds were very comfortable. We felt so at home. Even thought it was winter we were able to walk the beach and rock hunt. We even had deer in the front yard. Would highly recommend!
Visitor friendly , comfortable, well labeled and relaxing accommodations. Enjoyed fire pit on the beach very much.
Really appreciated owner showing us around the house.
Home was very clean and comfortable. Absolutely would love to stay again. Great location for attractions across the peninsula. Great beach for rock hunting, swimming and relaxing.
I wouldn’t recommend this place for those with young children. It’s a quad level home and the water gets deep very quickly.
Fantastic Long Weekend on the Shores of Lake Superior
The VRBO was fantastic, can't beat the location right on Lake Superior. My kids loved picking rocks on the shore and especially searching for yooperlites at night. Was great to have windows open at night and fall asleep to the sounds of Lake Superior. Having the Black Creek Nature Preserve right near by was a great bonus for hiking and trail runs. The home was clean with tons of room and the great rooms with all the windows was fantastic. We hope to be back!
This property was exceptional. My friends & I had an absolutely lovely time. The house was gorgeous, fully stocked (more than even expected), very clean & cozy. It was a warm welcoming place. We would book again in a heartbeat. The view was out of this world spectacular! Having Lake Superior on our stoop (practically) made me think I was at the Ocean. This was a very relaxing vacation. Sephanie is a gem, an exceptional hostess!
This place was the absolutely perfect getaway! Best bedding I’ve ever slept in. Spacious family area and the cozy gas fireplace all overlooking Lake Superior’s spectacular show. We enjoyed long walks rock hunters dream of, fishing right off the beach, soothing sunsets and then the magical starry night sky. Didn’t want to leave!
We rented the house for a week with our extended family and it couldn’t have been better.
Upon arrival the host met us and explained the house and area. The house was immaculate, and right on the beach. We spent the week looking at rocks on the beach, finding yooperlites at night, blueberry picking, kayaking, and swimming.
The house is in an awesome location, and there wasn’t one thing to complain about.
You won’t find a better location in the area, nicer hosts, or better sunsets than here.
Thanks for sharing it with us!!!
What a lovely place! We enjoyed an amazing sunset sky from the back porch, right on the beach. The house was beautifully furnished, and while it is large, it felt cozy and comfortable. The kingsize bed had a great mattress (and I’m very particular about the bed). I slept so well, listening to the sounds of the waves on the shore as I dropped off to sleep. We had a fun time walking the beach, finding agates and yooperlyte rocks. I highly recommend this wonderful home.
I almost don't want to leave a review so we can have this place as our secret getaway LOL but it was such a wonderful place to stay! This was our first vrbo stay ever on a vacation and we will be back. Found some yoopers on the beach thanks to the flashlights left in the house. Great communication & everything was perfect!! The neighbors were friendly, the views were great, and my kids are already asking to go back.
What a beautiful view of Lake Superior! This house was very clean and updated. There is room for several couples or a very large family. Watching the waves crashing while the sun was setting was spectacular. Our family had so much fun reading, hiking in the snow, and playing games. An amazing home for a quiet getaway!
The property and house are well taken care of. Our host was friendly and a pleasure to work with, quick to respond to messages and thorough at check in. Well stocked kitchen, everything we needed was easy to find. Very comfortable, open layout that was great for socializing which was great because the weekend we stayed was rainy and cool. The lake view and accessible beach are amazing. We would definitely book another stay here but hopefully have a few more days to enjoy being by the lake. There is nothing better than listening to the waves on the beach.
The pictures really don't do this property justice. This house is gorgeous and the views are stunning with an awesome beach to walk on. The hostess was way more than generous from her help with check in to the quick communication responses. Simply the best host/hostess I have ever had. The house was immaculate and the recommendations were great. An added bonus was the awesome stereo system in the living room. It added a great touch. The only recommendation that I have is that the mattresses need to be updated. Other than that, this place was simply perfect.
The layout of this rental was perfect for our family of seven. The main floor looking out to Lake Superior is amazing. Even the kitchen has a view of the lake. Everyone had their own room with plenty of space to relax. It felt like we were at our very own resort. The beds were very comfortable, and the three bathrooms were a bonus. The kids were watching a movie on the bottom floor while the adults played music upstairs and neither one interfered with the other. We were a short drive from the quaint city of Calumet where we enjoyed a drink at Shute’s, the historic bar in town, and perused all the fun things for sale at Copper World. Next time we come up, we’d like to spend a day soaking in hot tubs and saunas at Mount Bohemia. The drive up to Copper harbor is stunning as well. We will be back!
Our family stayed at this phenomenal property for two weeks in the summer. The house was spacious, super comfortable, very nicely decorated, and well-stocked.
The views and sounds of Lake Superior from the large windows were incredible. We loved dipping in the crisp water and laying on the warm rocks during the day. Perfect sunset views. Our kids loved searching for agates and found many yooperlites after dark.
Great location for exploring the Keweenaw, Copper Harbor, waterfalls, interior lakes, hiking, mountain biking, ATVs, fishing, etc. Quiet, dead-end street with easy trail access just behind the property. Close to grocery stores, restaurants, and other amenities. But so quiet and peaceful at the house.
Hosts were amazing and considerate. Greeted us upon arrival to show us the house.
Eager to meet our needs and always helpful in providing guidance and recommendations for the area.
One of the best vacation rental experience we’ve had! Can’t wait to come back!
The host was generous with her time and communication, making this gorgeous, tastefully updated split-level home on Lake Superior easy to find.
Mother Superior always mesmerises, and Cedar/Sedar Bay is a particularly lovely spot with mixed sand and pebble beaches renowned for their semi-precious gems and public trails and beach access galore nearby... including just feet away from the Great Room at your stay.
My sister and I enjoyed gazing at the lake and I played my first game of Magic The Gathering overlooking giant ice-filled waves reducing the beach's winter ice before our eyes. My teenaged sons scoured the sands between the house and the ice for treasures, and we enjoyed the sunset together.
The sheets are the best I have encountered outsude of my own home, and the spacious spaces not only clean but cleaned with products I feel good about. Our host's elegant sense of taste is evident throughout the hone, as are items for comfort and the accomodation of children.
An induction charger lamp and the wonderful stereo system were among many lovely surprises!
Absolutely stunning!! The house is ON the lake, on a windy day, you can hear the waves inside the house. Watching the lake and sky change through the huge windows as I slowly went about my day gave the entire trip an overall flavor. Not only is the location phenomenal, but the house itself is beautiful. Bright, engaging and colorful. Full of art, with a mix of tasteful vintage furniture and modern accents this would be the perfect place to have a small gathering of friends. There's something to talk about and inspect around every corner and plenty of space to relax or entertain. The bed was so comfortable and the bedrooms themselves are all in opposite corners of the house, just an added bonus of privacy. The whole house carries that feel, of being well thought out and functional as well as beautiful. We spent most of our days in and out, down by the beach and back in for snacks. We saw sea gulls and a beaver on the shore as well as a fox on the road in. Joel and Stephanie were wonderful hosts, I had some trouble with my booking dates and Stephanie was understanding and quick with communication.
Calumet is just a short drive, but pack everything you need, because once you're here you won't want to leave!!
