About this property

Eagle Vista

Please send us a message before booking to note the reason for your visit and number of adults, children, pets. Our policy is to approve guests with at least two positive reviews. When that is not the case, we may be willing to approve the request if you are willing to provide some additional information and agree with everything in our house manual. In other words, we will communicate. The cabin is very special to us so we hope you understand why we like to connect with potential guests first and require a 24 hour decision period before approving booking requests. We recommend that you take advantage of the Property Damage Protection that VRBO will offer when booking. Most guests do. Now, on with the overview!
At elevation 9,300, enjoy a jaw-dropping view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The wind sings through the pines and wildlife abounds. No mosquitos, just hummingbirds! We provide lots of info about fun places and experiences within striking distance. In the cabin is an eclectic collection of music, decor, games, puzzles, and books - much of that with a Western/Old West theme.

It is not difficult to imagine being alone at the top of the world in the cabin, although there are neighbors several acres away. Eagle Vista is a solidly built, old-style cabin with glowing honey pine throughout. It is a work of Western art unto itself, with Western art on display inside. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The colorful decor is mostly Western with some "country" around the edges, interesting and unique items down to almost every lamp and hook. It's just plain fun to see and experience! The six acres surrounding the cabin are a classic mountain combination of pines, sage, and beautiful rocks. Saddle up! Your next great memories await you here.

Please note that the second and third "bedrooms" in the loft are not officially separate rooms. Elsewhere in the listing we refer to them as "sleeping spaces." Western blankets hang over the railing to provide privacy since the living room is below. It feels cozy and private enough for family and friends. The fourth "bedroom" (sleeping space) is the pull-out sofa in the living room, queen size.

HOUSE MANUAL
We will share a detailed house manual when you book the cabin or maybe even before per the communication mentioned above. That way there are no surprises. A cabin experience is much different than city apartments and houses. The manual offers much more information than we can plug into this "Welcome Guide." The details include guidelines for safety and security, helpful tips about things in and around the cabin, and a lengthy "fun stuff" list of places and activities in the area. On request, we can provide an additional document listing even more information. All this is our way of helping you be fully informed, assured, safe, and entertained for the best possible experience at Eagle Vista.

Retreat in the Pines

I had stayed here for a weekend getaway with my family, and what a getaway it was. The house is situated on a knoll overlooking the high peaks of the Sangre De Cristo range. On top of the views the location was serene, Hearing nothing but the wind through the pines is a therapeutic experience. The host has been very informative and communicative and went the extra mile to ensure we were enjoying our stay. The “Code of the West” is alive and well at this home and is so worth the time to get to.

Gorgeous mountain gem!

We loved our stay here! Incredible views, and a beautiful property. Perfect for our two families to relax and for our kids to play in the snow. Lots of thoughtful touches and a fun selection of games and puzzles. We are already looking forward to the next time we can visit!

The cabin you want to come back to

The cabin has the most amazing views and it is very comfortable that you do not want to leave. Even after spending a day out exploring mountains we could not wait to comeback to the cabin. It has anything you would need and more. We are a family of 3 and a 1/2: myself my husband, our daughter who is 8 and a mini schnauzer and we loved the cabin. I do like the private master suite with it's own bathroom, and laundry. Our daughter slept in one of the beds up in the semi private loft with our dog in the travel crate. We even spent one full day at the cabin just to take a break from hiking and activities and were definetly not bored. The kitchen has everything you might need just like a home so plenty of options in cooking, many beddings and towels so it could accomodate a large group. We sat on the deck every evening and watched the mountains, which was surreal, NO MOSQUITTOS, and enjoyed the entertainment from the hummingbirds (thank you for supplying the feeders and how to make the food for them). We did save it on our top favorite list. The communication with the owner or caretaker was amazing and I do hope they will welcome us back.

What makes this property unique

The cabin is eclectic, colorful, interesting, fun, and "rustic without roughing it." We think where you stay should be a big part of the travel experience, part of a cherished memory. We could have gone with a place that is much more generic and "run of the mill," but that is not us - and probably not you!
