About this property

Allegheny River House

What a view from your river front guest house! Enjoy everything the Allegheny River and Allegheny National Forest has to offer right outside your door. Spend time taking in the sights from the living room and relaxing on the private balcony. Launch your kayak or canoe right from the bank. Relax and enjoy the large riverfront grassy area, keeping an eye out for the bald eagles. They are always stopping by.

The Space:
Located on the second floor, this newly renovated one bedroom, one bathroom attached private space offers ample opportunity to wind down and enjoy the scenic Allegheny River. The living room and dining area look directly out to the river. The kitchen is fully stocked. A washer and dryer come in handy at the end of a dirty day. The bedroom includes a window A/C unit for those warm summer months. The propane furnace keeps the area toasty warm during those cold Pennsylvania winters. The bedroom includes a standard Queen bed, and the main area has a twin pull-out sofa, for extra company. Bedding, towels, toilet paper, and paper towels are all provided. There is fast Wi-Fi and cable TV if you need it.

Guest Access:
The River House is on a private gravel road that is shared by about 20 other cabins and homes. The posted speed limit is 10 MPH. If you’re visiting during the winter months, four-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive, is required. Access to the house is through a common garage area, which is monitored by Ring Camera, and up 12 steps. As a “FROG” it is important to note that no vehicles are using the garage. It is purely storage. There is parking in the driveway. A unique entry PIN will be provided with check-in instructions.

Other Things to Note:
This is an attached private house. A full-time resident lives in the main house. Please be respectful of the area and local residence. There is no smoking or parties. There is no BBQ, grill or fire ring.

Quiet Flows the Allegheny

Fun watching birds from the balcony: A hundred or two geese; a dozen or two ducks; a bald eagle or two.

Quick Get-Away

It was nice and peaceful and we loved being right on the river. We took a ride over to Kinzua dam and reservoir and the scenery was just so beautiful.

Great Stay

I really enjoyed my time here. AC and TV worked just fine, kitchen was great, there's a coffee pot, and tea kettle. There is a private entrance to the upstairs, but one does need to open the garage door to get in and out of the room, and the house itself is close to other properties on a private drive. Altogether, it was a lovely stay on the Allegheny - definitely recommend bringing a watercraft if you have one as it's a perfect place to launch from and possibly explore or fish from nearby islands.

Nice place. Needs tweaking.

We have nothing negative to say about the actual space. The interior was very nicely finished and the view from the little deck was lovely. However, we have stayed in many VRBO rentals, and every other one had a book of instructions on how things worked and what the host would like you to know. This one had nothing. The TV would not go on and we tried everything we knew, but to no avail. The biggest deterrent was that it happened to be very hot and there was only one small air conditioner in the bedroom that did almost nothing. We left a night early because we couldn't stand the heat. My advice would be to get together a book of instructions and procedures to help guests know where things are and how to work them. Also, I think the host should invest in central air or at the very least, several more units.
