Cozy Cabin next door to Ice Skating Rink!

Enjoy this charming mountain cabin, conveniently located just 15 minutes from Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, 20 minutes to Sonora and historic gold country, and an easy day trip to Yosemite National Park.

Located right across the street from the Long Barn Lodge Ice Skating Rink!

Access to the Long Barn Lodge pool area next door for just $10/person!


The cabin has two bedrooms upstairs. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other bedroom has two twin beds. We also have two high-quality twin-sized air mattresses available. Downstairs, there's a full kitchen, bathroom, living room with fireplace, TV/ DVD and a large selection of family movies, board games, and books. The dining area accommodates 6.

Summer activities: Pinecrest Lake is a terrific place to spend the day swimming, boating, fishing, or hiking. You can rent kayaks, paddle boats, fishing boats, and party boats at the marina. There's a snack bar that serves burgers and soft serve ice cream, a general store, and a sporting goods store conveniently located at the lake.

The Steam Donkey restaurant serves up delicious lunch and dinner and has a full bar. The Serene Bean, an outdoor coffee stand, is open year round.

In the evening, there is an outdoor amphitheater under the pines that features first run movies. This overlooks the lake and has a snack bar that serves popcorn, hot chocolate, and more. It's so much fun.

Paddle Board rentals are available at Heidi's Ski Shop.

Winter Activities: Dodge Ridge Ski Resort is 15 miles up the road. There is a lodge to relax in and a lot of trails to explore. Grab some lunch at the Creekside Cafe or a beer at the Boulder Bar.

Leland Sno Park is about 25 miles from the cabin. It's a great place to take your kids sledding in a great open area. Traffic is directed by employees of the Sno Park, and there is a lodge that serves snacks and warm drinks.

There's a seasonal, indoor ice skating rink that you can walk to right across the street from the cabin!

Further up the road are great fishing spots to explore and Donnell Vista, a stunning overlook 30 scenic miles from the cabin.

Only one hour to the quaint town of Murphy's, wine tasting, restaurants, and shopping. Calaveras Big Trees State Park is further up Hwy 4 where you can view an amazing grove of giant sequoias.

The cabin is a 1.5- hour drive to Yosemite's north entrance. Be sure to stop at the historic Iron Door Saloon for dinner on your way home!

Very comfortable, great hosts

We really enjoyed our stay while visiting Pinecrest for an athletic event. It was well-appointed & the furniture was quite comfortable. The cleaning crew could have been a little bit more thorough but our hostess was extremely responsive & I have no doubt that the few little things we mentioned will be addressed very quickly. We would definitely stay here again!

Nice cabin

Me and my family really liked the cabin. We went out to Pinecrest and rented a party boat for the day. It was a very nice and quiet setting. Had a great weekend.

Perfect Cabin!

We were visiting the area for a wedding and I found this listing very close to the venue. This cabin is adorable and the photos do not do it justice! It was perfect for my family and I and had everything we needed. A very short distance from Twain Harte and Pinecrest. Would definitely recommend!

Great Cabin!

This was a great cabin for us to stay at for a quick ski weekend to Dodge Ridge. It was easy to find and get into. The interior was clean and tidy and cute. We had a comfortable stay and would definitely rent again next time we wanted a short weekend getaway!

Cozy Snowy Getaway

We loved our stay in Long Barn! It was a perfect spot for our family of 4 to get a little closer to the snow. Thankfully we arrived just after a snowfall and enjoyed all kinds of snow play outside the cabin and in the area. We also ice skated just across the street! The cabin had what we needed for a pleasant stay. There is limited wi-fi so we were not able to stream content, but there is an impressive DVD collection and games for fun movie and game nights. We would definitely enjoy coming back again!

Cozy cabin

Wonderful memories were made again in this cozy cabin. My mom and I rolled tamales, my daughters drank hot chocolate watched movies we played board games. Strolled over to the ice skating rink, we went twice in one day! It’s such a comfortable stay thank you again for sharing.

Second time staying here

Stayed with my spouse and dog. It was our second time staying here. A great location with a ton of activities near by. Cabin is clean and bed was comfortable. Nice gas fireplace as well! Overall great weekend away and defiantly would stay here again.

Long Barn

We had a very nice stay in Long Barn. Cabin very convenient to lots of amazing hiking. Went to Sonora pass and hiked part of PCT (still snow in the mountains!) and Big Trees and Pine crest lake loop. Great trip!

Great Cabin

My cousin, her husband and I stayed in the cabin. It was well stocked, cozy and welcoming. The description stated that sheets and towels are provided. Since blankets and pillows were not mentioned we unnecessarily brought our own. Turns out all bedding is provided and I might add was very comfortable. My cousin’s husband was impressed with the guitar and enjoyed strumming a few tunes. We went swimming at Pinecrest lake and ate lunch at Strawberry Inn, both places were nearby and fun to visit.

My family and I loved our stay in Long Barn with our 2 young children, dog and my in-laws. They loved exploring the cabin that had tons of movies and games. So nice there was a pool directly across the street for them to swim in too, because the Lake just wasn’t enough for them lol. We enjoyed a day at Pinecrest, maybe a 15 min drive and then also explored a nearby river that was so peaceful and beautiful. The cabin had everything we needed and more. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we will def be back! Great host, thank you!

Awesome and cozy + great location

It's exactly what you'd want in the greater Yosemite area - cozy, rustic feel (but modern + clean.) It was ~1.5 drive to Yosemite for those visiting for that reason. The DVD selection was great, the kitchen was perfect, and the beds were comfy. The property owner was amazing - always quick to respond to any inquiries we had. I wish we had longer to stay as it would be a great location for a family getaway (schedule limits on our end.) Hoping to make a return someday! NOTE: Waze and Google both sent us to the wrong spot a couple of "blocks" over; use the Ice Rink in Long Barn as a reference point; the property is right across the way (alternatively, use the Long Barn Post Office as well, and the property is just around the corner.) NOTE 2: Download your maps offline if using Google; mobile coverage was spotty occasionally. NOTE 3: If you're coming from the East (on the other side of the mountains) like we did, be prepared for some mountain driving. Coming from the central US, a small hill is about as much elevation change we get, so the drive was a bit daunting - but one of the most beautiful drives we've ever been on (early July 2023, for reference.)

July 4th Vacation

We enjoyed our stay at the Nichols cabin! It was comfortable, clean and plenty of movies and games to play. We saw many beautiful spots while exploring the area! We would stay there again.

Excellent Getaway!

Mountain winter getaway

We had a great time in the Nichols cabin. It was cozy, warm, and clean. It had a rustic feel, but with modern amenities. Perfect for our family of four to spend a couple of days skiing Dodge Ridge.

Perfect cabin!

Just adored this cabin. My kids and I had a wonderful time here. There was an amazing movie selection for movie night. Popcorn and hot chocolate provided! It was super close to Dodge ridge and it was just a wonderful place to come back to after skiing/snowboarding all day. Loved it so much that I'm going back up with my kids and parents again next month!
