About this property
Parlour Brighton | Two Homes | Perfect for Groups
The Space: This rental is two seperate homes next to each other.
As you walk into The Parlor house from the first floor piazza, you are greeted by an elegant entry foyer with the home’s open living room and kitchen to the right. The living room and kitchen area at the front of the home are the original building’s storefront and commercial space. The living room, adorned with classic yet comfortable furniture pieces, has plenty of space for your group to relax and take in the home’s history and vintage antique artwork. The first floor piazza can be accessed off the living room as well. While The Parlor House has a classic vintage vibe, the kitchen is anything but that! An arched out-cove houses custom built-ins and a modern stainless steel wine cooler style fridge and freezer. A stainless steel oven and stove are also available for nights in with a home cooked meal. Sit at the large kitchen bar with seating for five, share a meal or an evening cocktail…or better yet both!
The first floor bedroom is located in the back of the house for quiet nights away from the street and features a large king bed, en-suite bathroom with a beautifully tiled shower/tub combo, as well as a large closet for luggage storage. The large walk-in closet also houses a small kitchenette with a mini fridge.
On the second floor of the home you’ll find two additional bedrooms, one in the front of the home, one in the back. Both of these bedrooms include a comfy king bed, ample closet space, and a private en-suite bathroom featuring a crafted tiled/glass shower, and single vanity sink. Need to freshen up those vacation outfits after a long day of exploring? The washer/dryer closet is located in the hall upstairs as well. The second floor piazza is accessed from the hall and the front bedroom, and makes an excellent spot to take in Charleston’s amazing weather over a cup of coffee or the late afternoon cocktail; the home is called The Parlor House after-all!
For the history buffs, in addition to the antique artwork and vintage decor, each of the three bedrooms feature unique vintage wallpaper designs by William Morris “Morris & Co.” All of the wallpapers were designed in the late 1800’s which is the same time the "Parlour House" was originally built. No historical detail has been overlooked! All bedrooms also include flat screen tvs for all your streaming needs, sumptuous linens and towels for each stay, and luxurious bath amenities for your convenience. There’s no need to stress about parking either, The Parlor House includes one off street parking space so you’ll always have a space for your rental or family vehicle.
Brighton House has been beautifully renovated and ‘revived” from their Victorian era glory days. Following the path down the driveway to Brighton House you are greeted by the cottage’s large welcoming piazzas, an architectural staple here in Charleston, where you can sit and catch the breeze, chat with friends and family, and make your way in.
On the ground floor of the home you will find two of the three bedrooms. The front bedroom houses a large king bed, custom design elements such as dual closets, and a bright en-suite bathroom with a single vanity and neutral toned tile shower/tub combo. Exterior access to the ground floor piazza is given through this bedroom as well.
The back bedroom is the master bedroom of the cottage and features unique and historical design elements coupled with beautiful modern fixtures and amenities. The master includes a large king bed, kitchenette area, and a large en-suite bathroom where guests can relax and reset after a long day of sightseeing. The en-suite bath features a double vanity, a large clawfoot tub, and a separate shower and water closet with a pocket door for added privacy. For guests interested in the historical and artistic elements of the home, the master bed’s headboard features a unique and artistic fabric design created and crafted as a celebration piece of African-American history and culture in the style of French Toile. The design, named ‘Harlem Toile’, “lampoons some of the stereotypes deeply woven into the African American experience.” It was designed by Sheila Bridges, an African-American artist and designer from the Harlem neighborhood of NYC, and is included in the permanent collection of Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum.
The home’s living spaces are primarily found on the second floor to take advantage of the large second floor piazza. As you can see, it is the best place for the group to gather to talk about the plans for the day, share a meal at the large table, and enjoy the beautiful Charleston weather! With ample space and seating for everyone, you will find yourselves living the outdoor lifestyle day and night.
Inside you’ll find the quaint yet spacious living area featuring comfortable seating, a flat screen TV and a dining table for six. Open to the living area is the kitchen which features all the modern stainless steel appliances and amenities you could need for a night in cooking a wonderful meal for the family.
The third and final bedroom is located off of the kitchen and features a full size bed, closet space, and an en-suite bathroom which can be accessed from another door off the kitchen as well. This bathroom houses a single vanity and large beautifully tiled glass walk-in shower
All bedrooms also include flat screen TVs for all your streaming needs, sumptuous linens and towels for each stay, and luxurious bath amenities for your convenience. There’s no need to worry about parking either, Brighton House includes one off street parking space so you’ll always have a space for one rental or family vehicle. e!
