Chipita Park Cabin - pet friendly, quirky & comfy

Summary:
Chipita Park Cabin is a fully updated 1905 mountain cottage, very charming, quirky and cozy. Be our guest and relax while you take in fresh mountain air, watch wildlife right outside your window and reconnect with your loved ones while roasting marshmallows and sharing stories by the fire pit.

The Space:
Bordering on Pike National Forest and tucked away on the side of Pikes Peak with incredible mountain views, yet easily accessible year round, Chipita Park Cabin is conveniently located less than 15 minutes away from Manitou Springs and only 20 minutes away from Colorado Springs.
Built in 1905, this mountain cabin is abundant in old charm, perfectly fitted for the explorer in you, but also offers all the amenities of modern living, high speed internet, WiFi, three smart TVs, Nest thermostat, smart lock and all kitchen and laundry appliances.
The cabin has many unique features and each room gives you an undeniable feeling of comfort and well-being.
You can get together with your loved ones for celebratory meals served in our well sized dining room and prepared in the decked out kitchen.
Or maybe enjoy wildlife watching from the cozy sunroom, you will see squirrels, chipmunks, deer and occasionally bears and mountain lions. The living room includes lots of seating and a large smart TV so you can enjoy your favorite shows and movies. Netflix and Hulu are available to all guests or you can access your personal streaming networks.
A Weber charcoal grill is available for you, also a fire pit and outdoor seating, perfect for roasting s’mores on cool summer nights and listening to the sounds of Fountain Creek only feet away, across the street.
You can also use our board games or card decks for a game night or grab a book from our collection and hide yourself in a reading nook, there are plenty throughout the cabin, to enjoy some alone time.
Three fully furnished bedrooms with queen size beds are available for our guests and two bathrooms with all necessities provided. BYOT (bring your own toothbrush).
If you are in town for business, we’ve got you covered, a full size desk and a comfortable desk chair are at your service on the second level loft.
Your furry friends are welcome, but please read The House Rules entirely and contact us prior to booking to let us know.

Guest Access:
Guests will enjoy complete access to all amenities on the property as the sole guests, excluded one locked closet in the back of the lower level bedroom walk-in closet. We do not offer cable TV or a phone landline. Cell phone coverage is good and enhanced by being connected to our free WiFi.
You have access to a protected Corner Park directly through the backyard gate. You may use the picnic tables but make sure to clean up afterwards.

The Neighborhood:
Part of a small, quiet mountain town with easy access to 24 Hwy, Chipita Park Cabin is within walking distance to hiking trails and Green Mountain Falls Gazebo Lake. Stop at the Mucky Duck restaurant down the street for a relaxing dinner in a rustic setting. Or meet the locals at the Blue Moose Pub where you can enjoy live music on Saturday nights. Have a great breakfast at anytime of the day at The Pantry, or take a 10 minute drive to Woodland Park for an array of picturesque restaurants and shops while enjoying amazing views on the way. For a quick supply/grocery stop there is a Walmart in Woodland Park less than 10 minutes away.

Getting Around:
Personal vehicle is recommended.
This cottage makes a good home base for trips to many nearby tourist attractions including Manitou Springs, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, The Manitou Incline, Seven Falls, Old Colorado Springs, U.S. Olympic Training Center, North Pole Santa’s Workshop, Eleven Mile State Park and many others.
Guests who love the outdoors will find great hiking, biking, 4-wheeling, golfing, fishing nearby.

Other Things to Note:
A wood burning fireplace has been added to the cabin in 1940. During the last scheduled inspection and cleaning we were advised the fireplace is no longer safe to be used. A major renovation will be needed in order to be brought up to code and deemed safe to use. Please be advised that starting a fire would be unsafe for your group and the building itself and we strictly prohibit it. Please reach out to your host if you have any questions on this subject.

So much charm comes with its own drawbacks. Being such an old and quirky building, the ceiling height on the upper level bedroom and some pass-throughs might be an issue for our taller guests. Please watch your head!

We pride ourselves in providing a clean and tidy space for all our guests. Due to high interest and accepting same day reservations, we want to allow our cleaner all necessary time to thoroughly complete cleaning and disinfecting tasks. For this reason we are not able to accommodate late checkout requests. Please plan accordingly and book the correct amount of days as to allow for a prompt 11 AM checkout time. A late checkout fee of $150 will be added to your reservation costs if house is not vacant by 11:30 AM.

Interaction with Guests:
Your host lives and works in Woodland Park, about 15 minutes away. She is easy to reach via platform messaging system or by text or phone call for emergencies. Phone number is available post booking.

Enjoying Family Time in the Rockies
We stayed in a charming and quarky cabin in Chipita Park Colorado, but soon after arriving and unpacking, the refrigerator stopped working and needed to be replaced. Our host came to the rescue and moved us to a different property in the same area. She even helped with carrying some of our luggage and was very helpful in answering our many questions. We highly recommend this host.

Lovely stay
We loved our stay and were delighted to find that we were next to a small sculpture park. The house was very clean and well appointed and there was trail access through the neighborhood behind the house. There isn't a trail that leads into town, so while the walk is very doable, it is along the road, so we chose to drive into town. All in all nice spot for a visit to Green Mountain Falls and the surrounding area.

Safety Concern
Overall we enjoyed our stay. The fact that everything was stocked up for use was very nice. The place was clean and we loved the location. However, the first night we stayed (August 5th) we were in the bedroom right up the first stairs when while everything was silent at night (around 10:00pm), our bedroom door was violently shook and the doorknob was shaken as if someone was trying to get in. Thankfully I had the door locked. We had previously heard noises before this happened and there was a spooky feeling in the house, but we didn’t think much of it since houses make creaking noises. But this was an obvious unnatural occurrence (no AC or house creek could have caused such a noise and force on a door). I searched the house afterwards to find anything out of order, however, nothing indicated anything missing or out of place. Obviously being frightened and scared for our safety, we left and booked a hotel for the night. No strange occurrence happened on the other two nights of our stay, thankfully, but we made sure to barricade the door for additional safety. I highly recommend increasing security measures, since we believe someone had most likely broken in and attempted to enter our room. Was a very frightening and scary event, and it left us on edge for the rest of our stay. Please reach out to further communicate.

Clean, comfortable and great location!
This host thought of everything! We've stayed at a lot of places like this and always up needing to run to the store for something unexpected. However, this place was so inviting. We found everything we could need that you don't think to pack. Things like reusable shopping bags and q-tips, every little thing that just makes your stay more pleasant. The whole house, including all the dishes were extremely clean. The views were beautiful. I enjoyed having my coffee in the sunroom each morning. We even had a deer and her 3 babies come right up to the window we were watching them out of. I would highly recommend this place to any family as long as you can all handle stairs, because there is at least one step into pretty much every room! If you have a young one just learning to walk, this would not be a place you could relax. However, we also enjoyed the fact that it was within a short driving distance to all the local attractions. Just a great stay all around!

Chipita Park/Cascade Get-Away
This location is very handy to all the things we love in the Manitou Springs/Woodland Park area. Nestled just off of Highway 24, the location is easily accessible. With the three bedrooms, we were able to house our family easily. The fully-stocked kitchen with all the extra snacks and breakfast items really made us feel at home. We also enjoyed the front sun room and the beautiful mountain scenery.

Born and raised in Romania, I moved to US in my early twenties. I travelled and lived in many states since but felt a deep connection with beautiful Colorado and especially the Rockies and decided to catch roots over here. Being able to share this piece of heaven with guests from all over the country and abroad is what I love most about hosting.

Why they chose this property

Cascade-Chipita Park is a quaint small mountain town at the base of Pikes Peak. The mix of rustic cabins scattered on the side of the mountain with 360 breathtaking views within a short, yet sightseeing-worthy drive to Manitou Springs or Old Colorado City makes it the perfect vacation spot for anyone wanting to immerse into nature while also having the convenience of vicinity with the city and its attractions.

What makes this property unique

A unique, comfortable and cozy space to spend time with your group. Or find alone time to relax and rewind in one of the hidden nooks this house offers. Even get some office work done if needed, without distractions. All this while enjoying some spectacular mountain views and a large yard.
