About this property

The Rustic Old Dam Cabin

Take a trip back in time with all things rustic "The Old Dam Cabin" is an acknowledgment of its location, and if Cozy had a picture in the dictionary, the Old Dam Cabin would be looking back at you with a big grin. Though this is Lydia's most rustic cabin we offer, it has a special place in our hearts for all the history it holds having been built in the early 1800s. Lydia has kept this property true to its roots.

The Old Damn is located just off Route 33. This rustic cabin is perfect for families looking to reconnect and let us not forget our seasonal SipShack Icecream Shop, a public pavilion overlooking the pond, a play set with a sliding board, and even an off-leash dog park are within walking distance.

The Old Dam Cabin has a private hot tub to help you wind down and relax after a day of hiking in the National Park or simply chasing the kiddos and pets around! Enter the front door from the large front porch to the living room which is equipped with the original wood-burning fireplace. The living room located on the main floor has a futon for extra sleeping options while the studio-style full bedroom is located upstairs with two built-in twin beds. There is one full bathroom
on the main floor with a tub/shower unit. The rustic kitchen also located on the main floor has a refrigerator, microwave, and stove, and is stocked with plates, glasses, cutlery, baking dishes, pots, pans, and of course, a coffee pot!

So, come relax and take it easy in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Old Dam Cabin - you are going to love it!

Stay

We loved our stay and the women I talked to on the phone were very nice. The only thing that I would have liked is a heads up on the people coming to put the Wi-Fi in.

Well worth it

We originally reanted a different cabin. However i have physical limitations that made the booking difficult. The staff worked with us to get us a different cabin and we had a wonderful 30th anniversary vacation.

Weekend getaway

This place is very cool! Definitely has a great cabin vibe, and only 5 minutes from Shenandoah entrance. Had everything we needed. I don't remember seeing a picture of the living room when booking it, so I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the cabin. Our kids loved sleeping in the raised twin beds, the outside fire pit, and playing the piano with us. Communication by guest services was timely, no issues at all.

Cozy cabin

Very cozy cabin with the driveway off of US 33 and 5 minutes from the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. The hot tub in the back was a bonus after hiking all day. Very peaceful sitting on the porch with a bourbon and a book at the end of the day.

Very nice and Quiet!

All was pretty good, a little to much spider webs in the cabin. I would recommend and will return!

A perfect getaway

We love this place. Rustic real cabin but with all the amenities. Everything was perfect. We had lunch and drinks at the lodge and the staff were attentive and so nice. We bought a few gifts and the front desk clerk was so nice and packaged our purchases up for us while we ate and delivered it to our table. This was our 2nd time staying and we will definitely be back.

Review

Direct TV did not work. The incline of the steps to the bedroom was too steep for our dog, so we slept downstairs. Otherwise, the cabin was delightful.

Little house on the Prairie, but caution.

There were several cobwebs and several rooms in several areas, and they had been there for awhile . There was also some debris in the bathroom floor. Upon leaving my boyfriend, inform me that on the first night he did find a snakeskin on the mantle when he went to start a fire. The cabin does have a lot of olld charm but under the conditions. I don't feel like I would stay there again unless they did some fixing and definitely some cleaning. And the steps were very narrow and hard to maneuver. You had to use caution when going down them because they were very small and narrow. I did book a couple's massage and the lady was fantastic. I believe her name was jessica and that was really a great service. She was very nice and very professional. Also visited the lodge and the restaurant there., and that was very nice.

Old Damn Cabin

We Had a great time celebrating my husbands Birthday. He was in heaven with the added bonus of a hot tub and he loves making a fire . The light in the stairwell appears to be out. The lower ka ch on back door is broken ! Just a side note We are in are 60s but in great shape . Older couples who might not be mobile would probably have trouble with those stairs going up to the bedroom.
