About the host
Hosted by Sarah Alderman

Sarah is a New England native transplanted in Texas for over 18 years and now calls the Commerce/Campbell area her home. Her husband's family has been in this area for 2 generations.
She built the barndominium in 2021 to have a cozy place for family to stay when they are staying over longer periods of time. When family is not visiting, Sarah and her family like to host other families visiting their kids at the local East Texas A&M Campus, passing through town on their travels or coming to see family in the area.
They also had the privilege of hosting a few families who are building homes near by and employees working for local businesses who have all stayed for longer periods of time.
When Sarah isn’t hosting guests , she enjoys traveling the world with her husband and 2 kids. They are big fans of anything that involves the ocean or mountains and starts with an "s", such as snorkeling, swimming, sailing, and skiing.

Why they chose this property
There’s something about living in this quiet corner of the world that words can barely capture. It’s not just the physical space—the wide-open fields, the fresh air, or the beautiful sunsets—that make this area feel like home. It’s the slower pace of life, the connection to nature, and the way the land itself has a way of making you feel grounded, at peace, and part of something much bigger than yourself.
When we first moved here, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had visited the area plenty of times, but living here was different. What I found, though, was that the more I settled in, the more I fell in love with every little detail of this place. It’s one of those rare spots where you can truly unwind and experience the world in a way that’s becoming harder and harder to find.

What makes this property unique
The heart of the retreat is the barndo that combines the charm of country living with the comforts of contemporary design. Built in 2021, this 1,100-square-foot guesthouse was designed with relaxation in mind. The open-concept layout features large windows that let in abundant natural light, offering sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. The clean, airy interior creates a sense of spaciousness and calm, inviting guests to unwind the moment they step inside.
One of the most unique features of the guesthouse is its thoughtful design. The barndo layout maximizes the available space, creating an inviting atmosphere where families, couples, or small groups can relax and connect. The large living room provides ample room for everyone to gather, whether for movie nights, game nights, or simply enjoying each other’s company. The cozy corner nook is perfect for curling up with a good book or rolling out a yoga mat for a bit of quiet stretching. This is a space where time slows down, and you can enjoy the present moment.
Outdoor Spaces: Where Nature Meets Fun
While the interior of the guesthouse is designed for comfort and relaxation, the outdoor spaces are just as thoughtfully created, offering guests a chance to fully embrace the beauty of the Texas countryside. The 2-acre yard surrounding the barndo is perfect for a variety of activities, whether you’re in the mood for a quiet stroll, a game of catch, or a friendly competition of corn hole or frisbee.
One of the features that sets this property apart is the bonfire area. In the evenings, the yard comes alive with the warmth of the fire, the crackle of the wood, and the sound of laughter. It’s a place where guests can gather, enjoy the starry skies above, and create memories that last a lifetime. Whether you're roasting marshmallows, telling stories, or simply soaking in the peaceful ambiance, the bonfire area adds an element of rustic charm that enhances the overall experience of staying at the retreat.
