Enjoy the island lifestyle in this beautiful beach house that sits on the Pacific Ocean. Relax on the lanai and look out at the waves as the sea turtles pop their heads up for air. As you swing on the lanai with a cup of coffee, take a breath of the morning fresh air as the stunning views of sunrises, Waikiki and Diamond Head begin your days in paradise. Or enjoy the peacefulness of the beautiful tropical garden while you listen to the songs of the Hawaiian birds . The home is situated at the juncture where sand ends and shallow coral rock begins. This location provides and an excellent environment for a robust turtle population.
Towards the evening, hang out at Steiner's Sand Bar and experience a tropical paradise by the sea. Head towards the fire pit and enjoy an evening underneath the stars just feet from the sea.
This house provides an authentic Hawai’ian experience – with many native plants outside, and an open-ceiling. Sit at the water’s edge and watch the fish swim by and the crabs scurry along the sea wall. At night, enjoy the warm trade winds as you view the city lights of Honolulu.
The home was originally built in 1949 by a family of fisherman. The original home had a deck that reached from the home to the sea wall for drying nets. The home is constructed from reclaimed wood that was acquired from dismantling military barracks. The open ceiling shows the military blue paint that originally covered our soldiers barracks. The home was renovated in 1980 and raised with a concrete first floor to its current two story configuration.
You will relax in comfort with island-inspired furniture both indoors and out. There are several lounge chairs and umbrella tables outdoors and plush coaches and chairs inside. Additionally, the three bedrooms have large beds that will comfortably sleep up to 6 people. The main living space is on the second floor, which allows the sea breeze to keep the house cool and enjoyable throughout the day. The bedrooms and the first floor all have air conditioners. The kitchen has a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, stove, coffee maker, and a large amount of counter space for cooking. The beach-front bar is covered and has a sink and all the stools you will need for a fun gathering with other guests.
The first floor has recently been opened into a spacious sitting area including desks for those who may need to stay connected. This area also includes two bedrooms with queen sized beds.
Ewa Beach is old Hawaii surrounded with new beautiful developments. However you will never hear road noise or have the night sky disturbed by road lights. The leeward coast occupies the sunniest part of Oahu that has been populated by Hawaiians since ancient times. The village of Ewa Beach continues to maintain the Hawaiian culture as the natives pass down their plantation type houses through generations. Ewa Beach is a great central location for experiencing all that Hawai’i has to offer. There are several shopping centers, grocery stores, and restaurants within a few minute’s drive. There are also fantastic golf courses and luxury hotels in the area as well. A bit further away, Honolulu provides all of the city amenities one could hope for (Waikiki beach, Diamond Head, Waikele Outlets, Aloha Stadium and Swap Meet, USS Arizona Memorial, etc.). And the North Shore, with all of its natural beauty and fantastic surf, is within a reasonable driving distance as well (Dole Plantation tour, Waimea Falls, Macadamia Nut Farm, Polynesian Cultural Center, big wave surf spots such as Waimea and the famous Bonzai Pipeline). There is one thing I want to make perfectly clear- this is a local community. They park their cars on their front lawns and some homes are not as neat as visitors would like. Don't expect the local people to be concerned about what you think is proper living. This is their home and they have lived in these homes for generations and so if you want manicured laws and people dressed up walking their poodles please do not rent this home. However if you want to get a feel for real Hawaii you can do it here and that is why we own this home.
Please note that my wife and I occasionally occupy a studio in the back of the property. We may or may not be present during your stay but if we are staying your privacy and use of the property is ensured.
Please contact us if you have any questions – we would love to hear from you!
Sorry, no pets or smoking inside the house or on the lanai.
Thank you for your interest.
