About this property

The Cozy Cazadero Cabin with Finnish Sauna

About this space
the Cabin is a perfect place to spend cheerful hours while listening to the crackling fire in the wood stove and the rain drumming a beat on the roof.

delightful, comfortable and romantic; bright, airy but cozy, the cabin is the perfect place for two. the new fire pit and a Finnish sauna are only 2 spots out of many opportunities at the Cabin.

the interior is updated and renovated and expresses a scandinavian sensibility culminating in an efficient and minimalistic design.
The space
This is my personal cabin. i restored, upgraded and decorated the cabin with my own custom made furniture.
The Cabin invites for short getaways as well as for long-term periods (1 month and longer).

Here are just a few of the many amenities the Cabin has to offer:
Authentic Finnish Sauna;
Fast WiFi (300 mbps+);
EV charger (level 2);
Well equipped kitchen incl. Italian Chef's gas range and pizza oven;
Large deck with fireplace and sun/rain protection;
Swimming hole in the vicinity.

redwood boards line the walls and ceiling, the floor consists of solid pine planks (with radiant floor heating throughout incl. the bathroom).
the fresh scent of wood will surprise you, no dampness or musty smell here! all the windows and doors have insulated double pane glass. no cold drafts!

the living area and the kitchen form an open and well lit space. the vintage skylight in the kitchen gives the space a warm and bright note.

the living area is furnished with a new leather couch and a big table (not only for dining).
the main source for heat is the centrally placed modern wood stove (beside radiant floor heating).

the kitchen, fitted with custom made redwood drawer fronts and counter, is stunningly beautiful yet very efficient.
equipped with a high end chef's range (gas stove/oven), fridge, coffee snob grinder/maker and a large countertop it is a cooking connoisseur's delight!

the bedroom has a custom made queen size bed, a gas fireplace and reading chair. the morning sun shines in and the view out of the window offers a beautiful picture of the wood studded hills. it has its own door to the deck.

the bathroom might be the nicest in the area, small but very luxurious, it is furnished with european armatures.

the small room has a foldable couch/bed and some storage.

yet in the summer most the activities take place outside:
the cabin has a very large deck with bbq, pizza oven and a new fireplace.
it gets direct sunlight and can get quite warm. there are 2 large cantilever patio umbrellas for protection.

the cabin is hooked up to internet/wifi (300 mbps+).
at the parking area is a EV charger (level 2).

we are just outside of the town of cazadero; it is a 3 minute walk to the general store.
great swimming and sunbathing options in an uncrowded setting are very close.
Guest access
the entire cabin is at the guests disposal.
Other things to note
the property has a valid vacation rental permit. tot certificate# 2913N

Incredible Getaway with 5 Star Amenities
This was the perfect place for a long weekend! The cabin is incredibly well-appointed with a full kitchen and grill, EV car charging, and ample places to lounge in beautiful settings. Would definitely recommend! Oliver was easy to communicate with and had a very helpful location guide with plenty of tips.

Not exactly as expected
This property is very a very nice, basic cabin. It is advertised in a way that led us to believe it was upper scale and elegant, so we were a bit disappointed. Kitchen is nice and adequately stocked. The refrigerator was broken when we arrived and while they were responsive to the issue, it took 3 days to get a replacement, so all the food we brought was ruined. We were not offered any sort of compensation for not being able to keep food or have ice on 100+ degree days for 3 of the 8 days we were there. Beds are comfortable (although I never did figure out how to lay the day bed down, so put the mattress on the floor). The weather was hot when we were there- this cabin is not prepared to handle it- and was a sauna in the house- we never used the actual sauna that was there. Overall, a nice place if you are just looking for a basic cabin.

About the host

Hosted by Oliver Nisch

Host profile image
Originally from Europe i came to California years ago to dedicate my life to outdoor activities, creative work and a balanced life.
Living on the road as a traveller for years i developed a sense for hospitality as well as for different ways how to live.

Why they chose this property

So close yet so remote! Not very far from the buzz of the Bay Area one will find a many varied landscape around Cazadero, both physically and culturally.
The untamed coast and wild beaches; steep hills and the coastal range; river bottoms and mountain ridges; oakwood lands and redwood groves; roaming sheep and vineyards; scattered settlements and quirky little towns.
it all comes together here, the quintessential Northern California cultures and landscapes.

What makes this property unique

Informed by Nordic and Japanese Design philosophy as well as having an educational and professional background in design and fabrication led me to create and transform the former rather bare cabin into a very livable and cozy space.
