Find your very own piece of Whidbey Island history at this charming duplex, a local landmark that's part of the Fort Casey Inn. This century-old property is wonderful for days spent beachcombing, hiking the island's gorgeous trails, and admiring the view of the water from your covered front porch.
The Fort Casey Inn dates back to 1909, with its cottages once serving as quarters for non-commissioned officers at neighboring Fort Casey. Today, the adjacent Fort Casey State Park is one of the most beautiful spots to explore on Whidbey Island, with its bunkers and batteries, a lovely lighthouse, driftwood-strewn beaches, and awe-inspiring sunset views of the Olympic Mountains across the water. You can walk to the Coupeville Ferry Dock (which connects to Port Townsend) and drive to the Ebey's Landing Bluff Trail (three miles) and picturesque downtown Coupeville (four miles) in a matter of minutes.
As part of the inn, this two-story home enjoys access to grills and picnic tables on the grounds. If you're traveling with a group, the meeting space at Garrison Hall is even available for gatherings and retreats.
Little charms can be found throughout the house - think painted wood floors, black-and-white tile, and a coffered ceiling in the living room. After a day of exploring the island, come home to prepare dinner in the eat-in kitchen, snuggle up to the gas fireplace afterwards, and crack open a favorite novel. While there's no TV to distract you here, there is complimentary WiFi to keep you connected with loved ones back home.
