A Week in Mt Desert Island

An easy walk, but clear of the nightly bustle. Amenities included a full kitchen and barbecue. Probably best for young couples.

Perfect location for Acadia

We just loved this little cottage with it's charm and convenient location. After a day of activities it was nice to come "home" and relax on the porch and plan the next day's adventures. All the amenities of home made it very easy to settle in with a well stocked and efficient kitchen and comfortable bed. Would recommend it highly for a perfect getaway.

wonderful cottage

Small, perfect size for a couple. Lots of caring details and such attention to detail in the construction, bedding, kitchen is fully loaded and comfortable for sleeping, cooking, relaxing. Lots going on in the neighborhood though, ie. barking dogs, leaf blowers every day....sigh....people!

Perfect Acadia accommodations for a couple

We had never been to this area before and we searched the options thoroughly before choosing the Acorn Cottage. It was the perfect jumping off point for our adventures in Bar Harbor and Acadia. The location is ideal- easy walk to the grocery store and downtown, easy bike ride to the carriage trails that wind through the Park. At this price point you would be hard pressed to do better. The interior was cozy and clean and equipped with everything needed to make your own meals, which is what we did. The owners live in the main house, which is very nearby, but we didn't really notice their presence and they give you privacy. We would definitely return to the Acorn Cottage when visiting this area again.

Outstanding!

I fell in love with this property as soon as it popped up. We were so excited to see it was EXACTLY as presented on VRBO. Everything listed was available and in working order. Location: SUPERB! Though it sits just outside of the Bar Harbor Village, off of the highway it’s still quiet and relaxing. Several times we walked to and from the village. It’s also very close to the loop road for Acadia National Park. Property: Surrounded by trees, nestled near a broom and little walking path, gave that feeling of being in the woods without actually being remote. The home was CLEAN and inviting! We like to cook some when we’re on vacation and the kitchen, while not fully stocked, had the basics we needed; can opener, bottle openers, scissors, sharp knives, serving and eating utensils, nice dishes, a fabulous coffee maker (drip & K-cup combo), a French press, tea kettle, a good selection of pots and pans… We felt so cozy. The window seat is perfect and there’s a great selection of books and puzzles. TV with access to Ruko, Netflix & Prime. The bed and pillows were comfy, too! We felt like the hosts thought of every detail for travelers. While the hosts do live on the property, other than a brief, friendly introduction and conversation, we saw & heard little of them. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the property to others!

Close to everything

Walking distance to village in quiet neighborhood. The cottage is right in the dooryard of a house but all of the windows face woods and a stream so it feels private. Kitchen had everything we needed. Gas grill didn’t heat up enough to cook.

Great cottage short walk to Bar Harbor

Loved the coziness and location of this small cottage, was perfect for two of us. It felt rustic and remote but still less than a mile walk into town.

Awesome cabin in a Perfect Location

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Acorn Cottage. Everything was perfect (aside from the rainy weather). The Cabin: The cabin was very clean, well appointed, and stocked with everything you could need for your stay. Oils, spices, pots/pans, etc - all stocked and perfect for cooking the seafood we got at Parson's. It is a perfect size for a couple wanting to see Bar Harbor and Acadia. The Location: This could not be beat - walking distance to town and less than a mile to the carriage roads in Acadia. We walked into town every day and were able to jog to the Carriage Roads for our daily runs. Access to the park by car was just a couple minutes away. Being that close to Bar Harbor and Acadia was incredibly convenient. The Owners: While the cabin is on the Owner's Property, you would really have no idea - it just feels like a cabin and then there are neighbors. We had a family circumstance arise 72 hours before we were supposed to arrive and the owners were incredibly accommodating and understanding. The only time we saw them was when the greeted us when we pulled up on the first day. They were extremely nice and made sure we knew that they were available if we needed ANYTHING. But the cabin was so well stocked - we didn't. I really can't say enough good things about Acorn Cottage and our experience - it was a fantastic trip.

Perfect little getaway cottage close to everything!

Acorn cottage was even better than we hoped for. Tucked amongst the trees with birds chirping but walkable to the hub bub of Bar Harbor or to hiking trails in Acadia National Park. We love to cook in some nights and everything you’d need was provided. What a gem!!

A wonderful cottage

My husband and I stayed here with our five month old. This was perfect for our little family. Very clean. Full kitchen stocked with lots of cooking pans, utensils, plate ware etc. The back deck is perfect for grilling. Also, walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor and a very short distance from the entrance to the park. We have already recommended this place to friends. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Adorable Cottage with amazing location ¡

We stayed at the Acorn Cottage for the week of labor day 2015. The cottage is well appointed, clean and very homey, perfect for a couple. Cottage has a thoughtful layout and plenty of natural light. Make a left out of the driveway and it is a 3 minute drive into Acadia National Park, the Cadillac Mountain entrance. You can take a 15 minute drive to great kayaking or biking around Eagle Lake. Make a right out of the driveway and it is less then a 10 minute walk to the restaurants and shops in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor. This house is located perfectly to give renters the best of the two worlds that makes this area of Maine so special! The owner is easy to deal, very welcoming and even though the cottage is on the owners property we never felt our privacy was encroached. This was our first time staying at the Acorn Cottage and it will definitely not be our last, although we are going to fight for a week on the schedule after all my friends book their trip to Maine after seeing my photos! Acorn Cottage is a great place to make your home away from home while you explore all the Bar Harbor area has to offer!!
