Fort Casey Inn Cottage 5

There's a palpable sense of history and place in this duplex home at the Fort Casey Inn. From the bright and breezy interior to the front porch overlooking Puget Sound, this cottage is a complete and unique Whidbey Island experience.

The Fort Casey Inn dates back to 1909, with its cottages once serving as quarters for non-commissioned officers at neighboring Fort Casey. Today, the adjacent Fort Casey State Park is one of the most beautiful spots to explore on Whidbey Island, with its bunkers and batteries, a lovely lighthouse, driftwood-strewn beaches, and awe-inspiring sunset views of the Olympic Mountains across the water. You can walk to the Coupeville Ferry Dock (which connects to Port Townsend) and drive to the Ebey's Landing Bluff Trail (three miles) and picturesque downtown Coupeville (four miles) in a matter of minutes.

As part of the inn, this two-story home enjoys access to grills and picnic tables on the grounds. If you're traveling with a group, the meeting space at Garrison Hall is even available for gatherings and retreats.

The house is full of old-world charm, from the coffered ceiling in the living room to the black and white tile floors in the kitchen. Bring a glass of wine outside to the front porch at happy hour, prepare a homemade dinner in the eat-in kitchen, and curl up next to the gas fireplace in the living room afterwards. There's no TV here, but there is complimentary WiFi to keep you connected.

Cute and Clean
The house is exactly what I expected; colonial and simple. The only frustrating thing was the instructions to get into the cottage. I didn't know car path and key pad were behind the house. Nothing is well marked so it took a bit of time to figure out how to get into the house. For future guests, I would recommend adding in your check in process that the key pad to enter the cottage is in the back, also where you can find the parking spot. The car path is to the left of the 1st cottage etc. We are unfamiliar with Fort Casey in general, so after hours of being on the road we were anxious to get settled in. Otherwise, good place for families. PS. Gave 1 star rating with "communication with property manager" because we never needed to connect with them.

A fun place to stay
Cute cottage, very peaceful. We enjoyed using the picnic table in the back yard and going for walks. A beautiful place and it made our weekend very relaxing and fun.
