About this property

The room is located in the heart of Amsterdam opposite the Jordaan area. City center is all around but the house is still in a quiet spot.

The suit face the courtyard you can enter from your room.The room is cosy, quiet and quirky. Height is 1.85 mtr under the 17th cent. beams. You have a private entrance, so you'll be free to go in and out. Free Wifi /Internet. Private souna-bath & toilet with sliding door. You can choose one double bed or two singles. A kitchenette with your private refrigerator a one pit stove and microwave. Our apartment is not very suitable for people with physical disabilities because there are some uneven steps in the house.
We have also a small boat 'as terrace' where you can sit on if the sun is out. In the garden you can relax or smoke.

Dam Square 5 min walk, Ann Frank house and Jordaan 2 min. walk and 10 min walk to Leidseplein square,. The museums are a short walk away, as are the Vondelpark, the Flower Market and the Waterlooplein. There are many public transport lines whit in 4 min walk. The neighborhood has many good restaurants, bars, cafes, coffee shops, groceries, bakers, and boutiques. Off late booking posible. Additional: with me you can also rent a camperbus after your stay here, to explore the Netherlands. Ask for the possibilities. Minimum days rental is 10 days.

Short stay in Amsterdam

Great location with easy walk to attractions. Anne Marie was a great host who meet us on arrival and helped settle us in. There was no surprises with the property description matching what we found.

In the midst of Amsterdam

Lovely quaint small sub-basement apartment in the midst of canal ridden Amsterdam. Little backyard garden to relax and our host has a boat on the cannal where you can sit and watch it all go by. Great location near to trams and local eateries. The ceilings are low so be prepared if you are tall.

Quirky apartment in a fantastic location!

Perfect location for our 4 night stay in Amsterdam. The apartment had absolutely everything that we needed. I was a little surprised by the entry via basement with all the utilities etc. Was not fully aware that the kitchen was for our sole use and that the laundry facilities were shared with apartments (?) above. It is a very quirky style which we enjoyed as it was fun and different. Comms with Anne were great and clear. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and it was good value.

Canal side apartment!

Th apartment is a little quirky! A wonderful location right on the canal in an excellent street. Very central and an easy walk to everything. The little boat was an excellent spot to have evening drinks and watch the world cruise by. Anne Marie was very helpful before and during our stay.

Recycling to the extreme

Recycling, up-cycle and repurposing to a whole new level. This property even though conveniently located is not for everyone. However, our host Anne Marie was lovely and very accommodating.

Would definitely stay in this Canal Apartment again.

We didn’t want a sterile Hotel room so this quirky apartment with great character was fabulous for us. Great location, so easy to walk or catch trams to major sights. Anne Marie was great to deal with - we had terrible flight delays and she made the check in process very easy for us. We loved the little courtyard garden, and being ably to sit in their boat and watch the canal activities was lovely. Bed was comfortable, good hot water and the kitchen was well equipped. Many thanks Anne Marie!

The best location in Amsterdam!

Although incredibly quirky and the shower/bath took a lot of negotiating and trial and error, we loved our stay in the most wonderful part of Amsterdam. We felt warm, cosy and comfortable in the large double bed with fluffy pillows and warm quilt. We felt safe and secure walking the streets and discover all Amsterdam has to offer right on our doorstep!

If you're into the following for your vacation this is the place for you:This apartment is in a basementThe ceiling height is less than 6ftYou have to pump water to flush the toiletThe hosts will inform you that food needs to be kept in a special container so "nature" doesn't come inThis is an active workshop when not being rented, there will be smells of varnishSmoking is allowed in the unit The hosts are very non communicative towards concerns and will actively downplay anything you may bring up. They know the problems the unit has and will actively use those issues against you as a reference to why they don't have any responsibility for the properties condition. Exercise caution when agreeing to rent this unit. You will receive zero support from the owners of the property in trying to rectify any issues.

Exciting place to stay

An eclectic place to stay in the center of an eclectic city. Walk out the door and you face at once a canal lined with beautiful Dutch buildings! The neighborhood is full of restaurants, cafes, and shops frequented by Dutch as well as tourists

Spring in Amsterdam

quick trip to see a band. Amazing location for anywhere in Amsterdam. small garden and boat on canal make for a nice break with a glass of wine. Apt as described... quirky but that is exactly what I was looking for.

Got there early and informed by owner all okay to check in early. Location is excellent right where we wanted to be. The room was great we liked it a lot very quirky and a very comfortable bed. Probably not to everyone’s taste but fine for us. Late check out was available informed by owner all okay.

Great stay

Cozy unit below ground. Host was extremely sweet and helpful. I wouldn’t recommend if you are over 6 ft tall as the ceilings are incredibly low. Location is incredible on the canals and very central, but away from the craziness of the center of the city.

Quirky canal apartment

Thought we were walking into a lovely little vintage shop which led us into a cozy quirky apartment. Everything you need with few little extras and a wonderful deep bath. Not the place to stay if your looking for modern style furnishings. Plumbing is a little noisy and on occasion a little smelly and you have to pay extra for the sauna. Anne Marie is a very helpful and informative host.

Lifelong desire to travel here

Loved everything about the location. Beautiful garden. Easy to access other locations. Well supplied kitchen with all items needed for cooking. I could not ask for a better place, plus owner was very kind and responded to questions quickly. We absolutely loved it.

Wonderful funky suite in great location

This suite has everything my wife and I needed for our two-night stay in Amsterdam. Its location makes it easy to walk to restaurants, museums and to get to a canal tour. The suite is well provisioned to allow you to prepare meals. The courtyard looks great, but we hit a rainy period so couldn’t take advantage. Anne Marie was very helpful and responsive, giving us some excellent advice on getting around. I highly recommend this suite.

Anne Marie Borsboom threw herselff as quirky adolescent already on the making cartoons consisting of four, five photos. Someone said: you should go filming. And so it came to pass. After the Film Academy, she went to work as Camerawoman and Director. Her new film BOI, Song of a wanderer and Homesick plus Carnival were broadcasted.
Anne Marie tries to stir her films to be more than the main theme suggests.

At times her visual poetry and eye for composition are the best in photography and they have traded the 24 frames per second for a single muted image with a strong expressiveness. But then again there makes them look prefer a series of. There are – how could it be otherwise – playful references in to film and the Visual Arts.
