The military brought our family of seven to Eagle River, Alaska in 2019. Alaska captured our hearts from the very beginning.

We opened our first vacation rental that year (the MIL apartment attached to our home) and immediately fell in love with hosting.

However, in 2019, a house fire destroyed our home in Eagle River while we were home and guests were tucked in next door. No one was injured, and even our two cats were rescued by firefighters, but it took two years for the property to be rebuilt (thanks, Covid!).

In the mean time, a new job opportunity brought us to Kenai.
This home was where we landed and lived for five years before the military moved us to Delta Junction, a very small town in the interior of Alaska. We plan to be back in Kenai one day!

Until then, we love being able to offer this house as a haven in the middle of your Alaska adventures. It's a place where family and friends can gather, share fish stories, and plan the next long explore in the most amazing place on earth.

Why they chose this property

The Kenai Peninsula is fondly referred to as Alaska's Playground, and for good reason. Our town boasts the best fishing in the world. You can't beat our rivers and beaches swelling with salmon under the watchful eye of Mount Redoubt, an active volcano that sits just across the inlet.

If fishing is not your scene, don't worry! There is plenty to do, from hiking, bear watching, ocean wildlife cruises, snow machining, cross-country skiing, shopping, world-class dining, and so much more.

Our home is centrally located to take advantage of everything our area has to offer. You can be at the airport in less than three minutes, and the beach in less than five. Walmart is close by, so stocking up on groceries is simple. Our huge parking lot has room for everyone, even if you decide to host a family reunion on our property.

And if you do, everyone will be happy. The teens can gather in the rec room and play foosball or pool while the upstairs boasts lots of space for everyone to gather, play games, watch TV, or just talk. Our massive kitchen flows into the great room, where a cozy fireplace begs folks to pull up a chair and relax.

Our two-acre property is home to ducks, chickens, and wild domesticated rabbits. You'll see them hopping about the gardens and sitting under the maple trees.

Speaking of maple trees, we are one of the few properties in the area that have cold-hardy maple trees scattered throughout the yard. Visit in September and October, when the birch and aspen are brilliant yellow, the maples are on fire, and the sky is brilliant blue.

Winter brings snow and all the fun winter activities! Across the street, the family can ice skate or grab snowshoes at the Kenai Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center in Soldotna (just 15 minutes away) and walk the trails like an Alaskan!

No matter what you and your group enjoy, you can do it all from the Haven House in Kenai.

What makes this property unique

Our house is huge! With over 4,000 sf of space for your group to enjoy, there is plenty of space for everyone to spread out, enjoy a quiet corner or a busy rec room.

As a family with five kids, including twin boys, we have focused on making a space a family can enjoy. No matter if you're traveling with Grandma or a new baby, everyone will feel at home.

Non-family groups love our space too, as each room has its own sink, giving each room an extra degree of privacy and separation. The game room provides for team building and bonding opportunities for groups that may not know each other well at the start of their stay.

Because this is our family home, we care about it! This is not just a business for us; we want our guests to feel at home in our home, and we are actively working to improve the property and make it the very best vacation home option for anyone visiting the Kenai Peninsula.
