Walk the wooded trails at Field Farm, managed by the Trustees of Reservations, or go for a morning run along Oblong Road, with views of Mt. Greylock and the Hopper. Another favorite walk/hike is a loop around historic Mt. Hope Farm, just off Route 43 in Williamstown. If you are craving a latte, the 5 Corner Store is just 5 minutes away and serves coffee, pastries and sandwiches, or enjoy farm-to-table
breakfast/brunch fare at The Break Room at Greylock Works in North Adams (open Thurs-Sun, 8-3). You can also pick up milk, eggs, and local cheese from nearby Cricket Creek Farm. Just 15-minutes southwest, you can cross the NY border into New Lebanon
for brunch or lunch at Blueberry Hill Cafe, a regional destination. For dinner and drinks, Mezze (Williamstown) never disappoints, and the Airport Rooms next to Tourists in North Adams serves cocktails and snacks.
If you are visiting MassMoCA, a beer at Bright Ideas Brewing is the perfect wind-down after a day of wandering the galleries, accompanied by takeout from Big Daddys, right on the MoCA campus, or cross the road for delicious pub fare at PUBLIC.
Within a short drive are dozens of options from country walks to challenging climbs in the nearby Taconic, Greylock, Green and Hoosic Mountain ranges. If you’re up for a strenuous hike to summit Massachusetts’ highest peak, the Hopper Trail to the summit of Mt. Greylock is a classic - the trailhead is in nearby S. Williamstown and starts from a lovely local farm. We also love the Jones Nose trail which starts in a meadow and gets above tree line very quickly.

This unique residence seamlessly blends history and modern comfort. The front section, dating back to the 1840s, served as a Schoolhouse, while the rear part, a stylish addition completed in 2000, harmoniously expands upon its heritage. As our guests, you'll enjoy exclusive access to the entire home during your stay, ensuring a private and immersive experience in this captivating blend of old-world charm and contemporary design.
The charming front section of the home, originally an old schoolhouse, features a cozy main floor bedroom with a queen bed and a full bath nearby as well as a family room with smart TV. Ascend to the second-floor loft, where you'll find two twin beds and a combined kitchen and dining area. Please refer to the photos, as it's important to note that the space with the twin beds does not have a door and is shared with the kitchen in the loft. The 2nd fl has a fully equipped galley kitchen featuring a range/oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, and a complement of cookware.
The newer addition to the home, situated at the rear, boasts two additional upstairs bedrooms—one featuring a King bed and the other a queen size bed. A full bath conveniently serves these bedrooms on the second floor. On the main floor, a spacious fully equipped kitchen welcomes guests with seating for eight around the table. Adjacent to the kitchen, a generously-sized open family room, complete with a smart TV, invites cozy evenings indoors.
The Schoolhouse is a restored (and expanded) 19th-century property that once served as a one-room schoolhouse for the local farming community. A bucolic country setting midway between the Williams College campus and the slopes of Jiminy Peak and just
15 minutes from world-class cultural institutions like Mass MoCA and the Clark Art Institute.
Tanglewood and attractions in Lenox and Stockbridge, MA are a scenic 40-minute drive south. Other nearby attractions include the Norman Rockwell Museum, Art Omi, and Arrowhead where Herman Melville penned Moby Dick (recently opened to the public and featured in the NY Times).
Location is everything in the Berkshires, and right from your door you can stroll across a meadow, hike along a mountain stream, cycle through scenic farmland or along the 12- mile Ashuwillticook Rail Trail in nearby Adams. Or drive 20 minutes to MassMoCA and
North Adams for an afternoon of art, followed by craft beer at Bright Ideas Brewing, right on the MassMoCA campus.
We invite you to kick back and relax at this private historic country retreat!
