About this property
Secluded Lookout Cabin. Snowshoe in only during winter.
Note: this is a snowshoe or ski in cabin as of January 1, 2025. There is about a foot of snow. You must bring in your own water as the water tank has been drained. The available toilet is an outhouse.
This is a very nice, yet simple one-room cabin on 13+ acres with 360 degree views. It is ideal for a couple or small family of 4. The cabin sits on a knoll about 1/4 mile as the crow flies above the charming little town of Republic. You can see the whole town from here, as well as the mountains beyond in all directions. The cabin has been updated with new flooring and kitchen cabinets. The kitchen has everything you need for preparing meals, and there is also a dual propane/charcoal grill.
There is one queen Murphy bed and one full-size futon for sleeping, so max 4 people inside the cabin. In winter it is not serviced, so bring your own bedding and clean up after yourself.
It also has space for 2 RVs. One space is covered, max 24 feet, with a 50 amp service. The other is open and can accommodate larger RVs. We are in the process of installing a 50 amp service for this space. Tents are also welcome outside the cabin. There is plenty of flat space.
There is an outhouse with a sawdust toilet for winter. There may be an outdoor shower with hot water, depending on how much water is in the tanks.
There is public land and timberland adjacent to the cabin, so you can hike, or snowshoe for miles outside the cabin door.
If you have ever rented a forest service cabin, this is similar, although it also has electricity and a full kitchen setup. If you are looking to get away from it all and spend time on the porch taking in the view and the stars, this is the spot. Yet you can also make a quick run into town for whatever you need (restaurants, grocery store, and brewery).

We have enjoyed fixing up this little cabin and we love spending time here as a family. Sometimes the bird life is amazing up here. The view is always amazing. We are renting it out so that we can share it with nice people, and so that we can continue to improve the property.
