beautiful and very comforable Golfito home

Marvin the caretaker was awesome! The gardens and pool were kept beautiful and clean. the porches are perfect for bird watching, plane watching (as they fly right over you to land), and watching the rain. The ceiling fans throughout made the heat very bearable, including the porches! If you have a large group you will not be disappointed!

Best Vacation rental I have stayed at.

I have been staying at Casa Golfito for the past 7 years and it never disappoints! Pool facility is unrivalled. Owners are great and are committed to making they stay as enjoyable as possible. The caretakers Rodolfo and now Marvin are supper friendly and accommodating. Love this place and I can't wait to come back!

Beautiful grounds, could be better

Let me start with the building & the grounds were absolutely gorgeous! The pool was amazing, clean, refreshing & bursting with life! We saw several species of birds, lizards, & other creatures right on the property. The pool was by far our favorite part, & we also loved lounging on the porch. The AC worked quite well & the beds were relatively comfortable. That said, there's much to be improved about this location. For example, the sheets didn't fit our beds & we had to hunt through the house to find the right matches. There were 3 coffee cups for a house for 8, barley enough plates, teflon peeling pots, & we were even drinking our beverages out of dessert cups! The place had been surfaced cleaned but it was very obviously dirty in all the corners and crevices. The towels were quite old with strings hanging off of the edges. One of the sliding shower doors fell off on one of our guests & when the grounds keeper came he said, "well, there are other bathrooms!" The house says it provides concierge services, but not 1 of my 7 requests was fulfilled. Once we arrived in the area, we could see that half our requests were really not feasible for the area, but the other half did not seem unreasonable. To say that restaurants are a 20 minute walk is definitely true, but it is also down a very busy highway with no sidewalk or walking path, so it's dangerous. Right next to airport. Overall, we had a lovely time, but we felt like we were having to "make it work" in several situations.

Classic tropical manor house

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Casa Golfito. This is a genuine tropical home of a former fruit company, with wide balconies, beautifully maintained grounds, and a wonderful pool area. There are multiple Casitas to relax and enjoy watching all the abundant wildlife including macaws and toucans. The housekeeper Marvin was amazing and came everyday. I rate the property five stars for its uniqueness, and with the tiny caveat that this is a very tropical climate and a developing country. If your expectations of all the above have you thinking about five stares in a major US resort you should Temper expectations. Nonetheless, a wonderful experience and so glad we did it

Could be a nice property - Was not ready for our arrival

The grounds, and pool are very nice. The house could be very nice (even exceptional) but when we arrived it was not ready for guests. It was very dirty, basic items like towels and supplies were not found. The kitchen and especially cooking areas were filthy. We tried to contact the manager but he was out of the country and in a very different time zone. We had to buy cleaning supplies and other basic items just to stay that night. The owner/manager contacted us the next morning and a housekeeper came but could not stay very long. She came back that evening for a while but the house still needed a lot of work. I had to call the other owner in the US and remind them that housekeeping was included per the listing and asked for the cost to be discounted due to our additional costs and work required to make the house livable. After 2 days (of our 5 day stay) of our work and the housekeeper coming back the house was in decent condition but not great. Note: There were 5 adults and one young child in our group. We are very familiar with vacation property management Three of our group are Costa Rican and the others spend 5-6 months a year in Costa Rica so we are not casual tourists. We can communicate with the staff in Spanish (none of them spoke English). We have reasonable expectations for remote areas like this. Summary: The house and grounds have great potential and could be an excellent property but there were significant cleanliness, preparation and communication issues that made the first two days very difficult. We have not received any consideration for the extra expenses and work we incurred the first two days making the place livable. It could still use some work. Check before you come to confirm condition.

Great place to stay

This property is very thing it says it is in the listing. Adam and Rudolfo went excellent to work with and set up all we needed. There were 7of us to start out with and there was more than enough room for all. The bird watching was great and Golfito was fun with good food everywhere. We spent a lot of time in the pool and relaxing. I recommend this property for a group or even just a couple. If we come back this way again we will stay here. Thank you again Adam for all your help with everything.

One of the nicest houses in Golfito

We had a very enjoyable stay at Adam’s house in Golfito for 3 nights in August. The house is beautiful and comfortable inside and out. We enjoyed sitting out on the porch under the fans and watching the rain fall. The pool was a refreshing break from the hot and humid weather and the animals were fun to watch. We had no worries about the security as the entire property is fenced and because there was someone at the house while we were gone during the day. The caretaker Rodolfo did everything he could to make the stay comfortable and he arranged for us to do a jungle hike and a mangrove boat tour. If you decide to take a jungle hike make sure that you are up to it. The young adults in the party found it a challenging but ultimately enjoyable adventure, the 50 somethings found the uphill climb difficult and the downhill trek treacherous and slippery. Make sure you have the proper footwear and bring plenty of water. It was about 6 miles and took us six hours. We appreciated that Rodolfo’s wife was kind enough to launder all our very muddy clothes and shoes. On the flipside, the mangrove boat tour was very relaxing. We saw a lot of the coastline and the countryside and we got a close up look at some dolphins. We also stopped for a swim and some snorkeling off a small island.

Love this house and location!!! Will return!

We stayed here for my wives birthday and visit to check out the Golfito area of Costa Rica. There was 8 of us and no issues with space. Everything is perfect for a group or just a getaway for two. The house and property is huge. A lot of character and history. The pool area and open spaces are great. Several animals including a very nice horse. Electric gate brings you up the driveway to the home. Lots of balcony space to enjoy the scenery. 3 minutes to el aeropuerto and Duty Free Zone. Beautiful hard wood floors and wood home construction that’s normal for this part of the country. We will be back several times. Rodolfo the caretaker and Adam the owner are a text away for questions or issues. Excellent customer service. A must stay in the Golfito Region.

Great property

We really enjoyed our two stays at Adam's house. The house is very well maintained, the pool was clean and refreshing, the grounds were beautiful, and the full kitchen has enough cookware for a small army, a gas stove/oven, microwave, rice cooker, blender, juicer, coffee maker, and utensils. There is also a large grill/smoker on the property. Two large decks and two cabanas/tiki huts (one each by the pool and grill) are available for outdoor entertaining. We made breakfast every morning in the kitchen and enjoyed the restaurants in Golfito for lunch and dinner. If you plan on cooking, either ask for the housekeeper to pick up groceries for you, or go to one of the local supermarkets. The kitchen is not stocked with common pantry items like oil, salt, pepper, etc. so purchase those at the store as well. There is a washer and dryer available for use in the basement area. Towels are provided, but you will need to bring your own toiletries. There is a horse, calf, two goats, and some chicks on the property (kept in their pen) for those that love animals. We saw macaws fly by every day while we were sitting in the pool. I'd definitely stay here again if I am in Golfito.

Top shelf

Adam is a great host, and the property spectacular - really really good. Golfito is a bit of a tired place, but this is a diamond in the rough. The home caretaker - Juan - even smoked some fish for us. Really glad we went there and stayed at this house. Golfe Dulce is amazing as well. We saw whales, swam at a secluded beach, caught snapper and makeral. wow what an amazing few days.
