Our reservation was confirmed within 15 minutes - a very nice change after 2 attempts on a well known site where each request was ignored for 24hours! However we were immediately told that we were being put into a different, similar property which was a bit odd; if we didn't want to accept then we could cancel without charge. No photos were available of the other property and we were a bit concerned - why not list it as a separate property? Was this a bait and switch? Is the place where we are being accommodated not as good, are we overpaying?
However the place (Flat 2, 30 Pearse Square) turned out to be very pleasant. The location was excellent, with several supermarkets just minutes' walk, Pearse Street station less than 10 minutes away and Stephen's Green about 20 minutes away.
The flat itself was nice, a small but comfy living/dining room with 4 dining chairs, armchair and a 2 seat sofa and TV. The kitchen was well equipped with crockery, cutlery, an electric cooker and a washing machine, all easy to use. There were 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two singles so it sleeps 4 (not 6!) and a shared bathroom with shower. Ideal for the three of us, or a family of four.
Facing Pearse Square park it was quite a quiet area but the floor and ceiling were thin, we could hear footsteps and conversations from above and below but it was not too bothersome.
The only difficulties were controlling the water temperature in the kitchen; wherever the tap was set, the water was scalding hot or cold, never in between. And we could not work out when to put out the rubbish, finally hanging it on the railing and it was removed 3 days later.
Overall a pleasant stay. The question of advertising one property and giving another aside, if you do find yourselves booked into this place you needn't worry, it is nice. comfortable, well equipped and a good location.
