Birds Nest
We were happy with our rental in Truro. Its name "The Bird's Nest" is so appropriate, seeing it is surrounded by trees, atop of a rise, overlooking the Pamet River Valley. The proximity to the beaches and Rt.6 made getting about quite easy. The house's wide 2-sided deck from which to take in the views beyond the tree tops, lends itself to al fresco dining and beautiful sun/moon rises. We enjoyed the open concept interior which was perfect for family gatherings including morning coffee and late night conversation. Of course there are times when things happen beyond anyone's control. We lost the hot water, which caused much concern especially since we had 2 new babies with us. However once notified the owner responded immediately. He sent a repair team that eventually replaced the hot water heater. Most important the house is spacious and has great flow to accommodate a large family and yet give everyone a place of their own to relax. Would rent again! Wonderful Week!!!

The special place that is Truro
Serene, private but with expansive views of the Pamet Valley. The Bird's Nest is lovely - well maintained, well equipped and simply pleasant. With all it's glass sliders and skylight, it's a bit like living outside but with the comforts of a nice vacation property.

Great house for a family vacation!
Clean, roomy house with a fabulous deck! They went out of their way to make us feel safe and comfortable in this covid year! My extended family had a fabulous week at the Birds Nest. The owner reached out to me a few times and the property manager, as well. I felt they were available if needed. We had a great week in a secluded house. I highly recommend this house!

The Nest is the best
Truro is the best area of the Cape to be in my opinion. Quiet, beautiful and away from the hubbub. The Nest is so well appointed and in harmony with the surroundings you won’t want to leave. Great size for a large family or two couples with a few children. John and the local manager Sarah are responsive and welcoming. They proactively prepared for all the needs of the pandemic and made us feel safe and cared for. We hope to come back next year.

Wonderful getaway in lovely Truro
This was my family’s 6th summer staying at Birds Nest. It’s such a wonderful and unique spot, perched as it is above the Pamet River valley. The views of the sky from the deck above the treetops never get old. The Goldsmith’s home is comfortable and spacious without being fussy or precious - perfect for our rotation of family and friends who come and go over the course of the week. John has always been a great and welcoming host, open to suggestions and feedback. We will be back for sure!

Wonderfully Serene Hideaway
This is a beautiful house nestled in the trees - close to Rt 6 exit, but far enough away for solitude. Great views, private, serene. Had a great time!

A perfect vacation house!
The house is beautiful and has a great energy all around. We enjoyed spending our days at the nearby beaches and our evenings in the spacious yet cozy home. Everyone seemed to find just the perfect spot for them. My grandson loved lounging in the beanbag pretzel and my children enjoyed the deck with it's gorgeous views. We all enjoyed the amazing panorama and the nature that surrounded us. The house is spacious, lovely and quiet. The kitchen well appointed and stocked with just the right equipment to cook dinner. We were sad to go, but there's always next summer.

Prime location and privacy
This house is located in a wonderful location close to route 6 but so private that you feel like no one else is around. The house easily accomadates 8 without feeling cramped. It has a great living space and comfortable bedrooms. Highly recommended.

Very private, beautiful home
I stayed in this lovely home in July, 2017. It was immaculately clean and well taken care of. I especially liked the beautiful art work. Beds and furniture were also clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you will need to prepare your meals. Just as described. The owner, John, responded to my questions via email almost immediately. Being technology challenged, the caretaker was also very attentive when I had a question about operating the television. The first week my family stayed was extremely hot and humid. Each room had a fan, and we kept all sliding doors open; but I recommend bringing extra fans for those unusually humid days. Also, if you have young children, you will need to be extra cautious of the staircases and the lovely wrap around porch. You may need gates. Overall, an excellent choice for your stay in Truro.

Wonderful, secluded house but close to everything the Outer Cape offers
We love this place so we keep coming back to spend a week every couple years. The house itself is very comfortable. The top floor has a specious open plan with a living room, a kitchen and a dining area that is surrounded by a wraparound deck. Downstairs has three of the four bedrooms, along with a sitting area and an office area. This layout provides a great balance between having enough space on the top floor to have everybody together, while also providing areas downstairs if people want some quiet time. The location, secluded on a hilltop, is away from the hustle-bustle of other parts of the Cape but it is close to a lot of wonderful things. Within a five minute drive, you can get to an ocean beach, a bay beach, and beautiful ponds (and we sometimes go to all three in a single day!). Getting to Wellfleet is about a ten minute drive and Provincetown is only about fifteen minutes away. We highly recommend the "Birds Nest"!

Classic Outer Cape, a magical place.
My in laws and my brother in law's family were extremely comfortable here with two little ones (4 and 6 mo) in tow as they visited my husband and me from far away. Our only regret was that we did not stay longer. The house is clearly the work of many years of rest and fun on the cape. Beautiful, artistic touches in the design and furnishings and a simple back in time experience (this is not the place for those who don't appreciate "simple" or "back in time"- fortunately we all very much do!). The breezes flow rapidly through the living areas, making you feel integrated with the woods outside. The porch is huge and the view beautiful. People can spread out and disappear or join each other in the cheerful living room. Great books on Cape Cod lore to browse and a thoughtful introduction in the house folder. This home was exactly was we hoped for- more actually. It gave a sense of being tucked away from the hustle and bustle in the quiet nature and artistic communion of the Outer Cape. A gorgeous beach is down the road, and plenty of good food (fish markets, drives to PB Boulangerie, the Bookstore, Napi's). Provincetown is close enough to be very convenient as well. What a special place. We were all sad to leave- perhaps four year old Millie being saddest. After whale watching and listening to whale songs, beach and romping on the fun orange pillow-chair, and eating ice cream in bustling Provincetown, she wasn't at all ready to head back to Texas. Thank you for sharing your cherished family home with us for the weekend. We felt like it was ours too- what a treat. Tip- bring a travel crib or pack n play for small babies. We were glad we did. And check pollen levels when planning your stay- the entire Cape was abloom! Although we didn't care one bit. I highly recommend this place as long as you don't nudge me out of a chance to stay again!

Beautiful hous needing air conditioning
The house is exceptionally beautiful, well equipped and perfectly located. The main drawback is the untolerable heat in the living room and the kitchen. The house is standing on top of a hill, and the common area is all huge widows plus a skylight. It might be great for Christmas, but even during our stay in late September all main floor, including the master bedroom was a green house.

Wonderfully secluded location with access to all that the Cape offers
We stayed here twice now, once in early summer and another late summer visit. The location is fantastic, close to the many beaches all within five minutes on either side of the Cape. The open living area upstairs is great for gathering together, yet secluded bedrooms, outdoor areas, and the downstairs family room provide get-away spaces. Furnishings are in great condition and comfortable. Everything needed to whip up delicious meals at home was readily available. I would recommend "The Nest" for most groups or families who want access to Provincetown, beaches, and the rest of the area without the tourist trap feel. We felt like locals staying here!

Absolutely perfect vacation spot!
My husband and I stayed at the house with our two young children as well as my parents. We all LOVED this place. It is so airy and bright. It has an understated style which is super comfy for hanging out in a group situation. Another great thing is that the downstairs almost feels like it's own apartment so it's perfect for multiple families. The location is excellent - just minutes from the most beautiful beaches, a great market and adorable Wellfleet. The only things that were a little tricky were the stairs with our toddler, but we managed to block them so that it was safe. We highly recommend this property and can't wait to go back!

I now live in France where I run custom cycling tours. Having spent most of my summers in Truro growing up, this family vacation home is very special to my wife and I. We’d love to share its magic with you.

Why they chose this property

My family built this house 45+ years ago as a summer home when they owned a clothing store in Wellfleet. We still get together at the house every summer, and even sometimes during the off season.

What makes this property unique

The private, serene hilltop overlook gives the sensation of being up in the air. The soft breezes whispering through the pine trees. Stunning views of the Cape Cod natural seashore. The soft natural light. Relaxing in the hammock. A right-sized home, great for being alone, reading or cooking…yet also perfect sharing a cozy gathering with family and friends. The ability to access bay and ocean beaches, and Truro town, without travelling on crowded Rt. 6!
