About this property

Charming Family Cottage Just Feet From Lake Megunticook, Private Lake Access

The cottage has two bedrooms (master overlooks lake), a large comfortable living room with fieldstone fireplace and cathedral ceilings, a separate dining room, an enclosed porch overlooking the lake, and one bathroom with shower. There is also a daybed on the porch, which allows for a total of 5 occupants. Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and microwave.

There is now a gorgeous bunkhouse, completed in 2021. Twin beds in a sleeping loft have a view of the lake, and there is a queen sleeper sofa in the cathedral height living area plus a full bath with shower. The bunkhouse can be added to any rental for an additional fee.

Ten minute drive to downtown Camden, walking distance to Mt. Battie hiking trails.

To maintain the traditional, get-away-from-it-all nature of the cottage, we have chosen not to add WiFi service. Cell phone service for major carriers is good; if you need more than the occasional hot-spot from your phone, we recommend a stand-alone WiFi hot-spot device.

A wonderful classic Maine lake cottage
Everything about our stay at the Turville cottage was perfect. The cottage is utterly charming, filled with interesting books, games and intriguing memorabilia, and the views are just simply gorgeous. The sun porch is perfect always and the cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace was a delight on the cool late May evenings.

Waterfront cottage with lots of amenities.
This cottage was very well stocked to cook a meal, head out on the lake with a canoe kayak or to take a quick swim. The water was nice and chilly in October but great to take a swim in. Really close to the happening town of Camden just minutes away and there is a really well stocked market just minutes from the cottage where you can pick up just about anything to make a great meal. Lots of board games for children and a wonderful view of the lake. We really liked all of the China that was available for a few family meals together.

Escape from pandemic and work!!
Tranquility at its best-we kayaked, paddle-boarded, tubed ;(rented speedboat), swam/floated to hearts content and walked/hiked Maiden’s trail, played music, in peace. Perfect location/zipped downtown Camden for lunch/dinner and shopping/ice cream and Rockland-Check out “Claws”-when mood struck us. In a nutshell -a wee slice of heaven amidst the hell of pandemic/strife-laid world! -Thank you thank you thank YOU Christie!😍❤️👍🏼We will be back for sure!❤️

Stunning views & wonderful location made for a great family weekend!
We had an awesome long weekend at the Turnville Cottage! Looking out at the lake from the porch or dock is just stunning. We took full advantage of the canoe & kayaks and just being by the lake was wonderfully relaxing. The cottage is very close to Camden (~3 min drive) which made it easy to go in for dinner, shops, or ice cream. Our family enjoyed playing monopoly and other games on hand (as well as tons of books) which was an awesome change from screens. Hope to come back!!

Great place on the lake!
We really enjoyed our week in Camden! Quaint house and new separate bunkhouse. We used the kayaks and canoes for boating and fishing, and even took a dip in the lake in May. Plenty of linens including towels, and very nice surrounding neighborhood. Close to the town of Camden. Would definitely stay here again!

Quintessential
This is an amazing lakehouse. Simple because it is a quintessential Maine early 1900s summer cottage given modern updating. Amazing because every detail and item has been so well kept and reconditioned. Turn key, friendly and usable and perfectly beautiful.

Quintessential Maine Cottage on Beautiful Meguntacook Lake
Highly recommend. In fact, we would love to come back again. We had the most relaxing week on the lake during our stay. The cottage was adorable and cozy. Every morning we sat on the dock with our coffee and spent the day using the kayaks, canoes and water toys. I like that the front area has lawn and steps leading directly into a sandy part of the water. Camden is just 10 minutes away by car and we went in most nights for ice cream and to sit on the waterfront in the park. The Maiden Cliff hike is a short bike ride away from the cottage, which I did with my son. But honestly, we didn't do nearly as many activities as we had planned because we loved the cottage and quiet, peaceful lake so much and didn't want to leave. I would recommend that you bring a brown tail moth medication with you for the stay. The entire area (Camden, Rockland) is struggling with Brown Tail Moth. I reacted pretty quickly because I have had it before. My husband and our teenagers only had a few scratchy spots. Just be prepared with a good steroid cream or even better, the compound spray and you should be all set.

Great Maine getaway
We have stayed in the area before but always on the ocean. This lake property almost made us forget there was an ocean nearby! Super clean lake water with available kayaks/canoes kept us in the water most the day. Nearby hikes with amazing views were great. The property is a classic cabin with great views of the lake. We cooked most meals and found the appliances accommodating. We brought water and used that for all cooking, drinking, toothbrushing. Overall, we didn't want to leave this little paradise.

Quintessential Maine Lake Cottage
We had a wonderful stay! The cottage is private and charming and has the traditional Maine camp feel to it, while still being very clean with modern amenities like a dishwasher. Both the porch and the master bedroom have lovely views of the lake, windows that can be opened wide to let in the breeze, and comfortable and attractive furniture. There are plenty of games and puzzles (we enjoyed the Easter Egg one!), and Megunticook lake is beautiful and clean - great for kayaking and swimming. Maiden Cliff is a fun hike, and the trailhead is right down the street. One thing to note: if you go in spring/early summer: look out for brown tail moth hairs, which can cause an itchy rash.

The house and property were just as described and met our expectations of campy Maine lake living- just what we wanted! It’s a great property set right on the lake and was perfect for four people to stay comfortably! We hope to make it back next year.

I never wanted to leave this sweet lake side house!
This very special lakeside cottage is a gem! The views of the lake are very relaxing and peaceful. The fireplace roared with gusto on the early Fall nights that we stayed at this great spot. I would definitely return again and again. Canoes, Kayak and other water toys are available to use too! Don't expect a brand new anything. This place is about nature and history and the simplicity of the old days! There is Wifi though and a TV that gets a few local channels, including PBS. We were set!
