My family returned this weekend from a week at this wonderful house. The house was super clean, thoughtfully and beautifully decorated and furnished, and it had really nice amenities (e.g., Viking stove and very nicely renovated bathrooms). The kitchen area is gorgeous, with wood beams/high ceiling and many windows and an open concept. We spent most of our time in that area and the adjacent sitting room, and I was happy it tempted us away from the small TV room. Everything was spotless when we arrived, which was really appreciated. Nice backyard for hanging out and we also hung around the front stoop and chatted with neighbors and watched passersby. The location is superb - we walked just 2-4 blocks to everything there was, though the beach is a longer journey, walkable but long and so we drove and parked with no problem - and the historic exterior adorable. Utensils, dishes, kitchen knives, laundry, coffee maker, bike, on and on, everything you need. Downsides: The space won't work for everybody. We were flexible and it worked, but it wasn't ideal. There is a master bedroom and a bedroom a few feet away with two twins. They share a large upstairs full bathroom in the hallway. The other full bathroom is on the first floor in the main area where no bedrooms are. There is a pull out couch in the adjacent room (the TV room). The other room is essentially an attic room with two twins. Cute and nice but a low low angled ceiling and you have to take stairs up to the room from inside of the master bedroom. The two sitting rooms on the first floor are cosy and very nice and very comfy, but small. No room for kids to play and no great room; just room for 4 unless you pull over a kitchen chair or two for two more people to squeeze in. So just FYI as to those possible limitations. If that's no issue for you, this was a wonderful house (A+, and we have been to beach houses for decades, though mostly we stay beachfront so staying in town was different but we liked it a lot) and the owner was great and made things easy and simple as they should be. We will be back. We loved the house, our week, and our first time in Lewes. Lewes felt like a small Cape Cod town, with cute restaurants, a few shops, park/canal front, and streets of cute historic homes. Good for families with small kids, as the town is quiet and calm and not much going on (15-20 minute drive to putt putt and movies and a boardwalk), and the beach is the bay with zero waves.
