Situated on the beautiful eastern shore of Lake Leelanau, We are situated on the beautiful eastern shore of South Lake Leelanau inside West Wind Resort, a wonderful resort on 3.5 acres of secluded property with over 400 feet of waterfront. Each cottage is individually owned and operated and rental options may vary. Our Cabin #7 offers 750 sq ft of relaxing space, inc. 2 bedrooms (1 queen and 1 full size) , full bath, complete kitchen, dining area and knotty pine living room, HDTV, gas log fireplace, perfect for those chilly and romantic evenings. Private patio with barbeque grill, picnic table and seating, private beach, boat slips (allowing up to 20' boat) and playground for the kids. Breathtaking sunset views. Cook a smore or take a casual boat ride around the lake at sunset and return to your own private dock just steps away from your cabin. A fisherman's paradise, including, Northern & Walleye Pike, Bass, Perch even Brown Trout. .
It's a perfect get-a-way for that dream fishing trip, honeymoon escape or family summer vacation.

Parking Available for 2 cars & trailer: Park your cars in the private spaces next to your cabin. Boat and camper trailers can be parked across from the cabins during your stay.

Great time, cabin was FULLY equipped

There was not one thing the cabin did not have and we have stayed in many cabins and condos. They went above and beyond to make sure there was everything we needed. Loved being able to sit on the couch and watch the water or sit on the beach and enjoy the sun. The sunsets were beautiful. Wonderfully quiet and relaxing. The cost for just 2 retired people like us was intimidating but after we arrived it was worth every penny! Steve was ontop of things and I could go on and onabout what a joy the cabin was for us.

Nice Cottage and Grounds

Cottage was clean and well maintained. The boats are all protected by a seawall which was helpful during the high wind days. The lake is beautiful plus the close proximity of Sutton's bay and Leland makes it easy to see other sites.

Fun and cozy week at the cottage

This rental had everything you need for a perfect, relaxing getaway. The cottage is well-maintained, stocked up, and had plenty of space for my family. We utilized the outdoor space and grilled on the patio where we ate our meals, enjoyed boating/swimming on the lake, and soaked in those beautiful sunsets while staying warm by the bonfire. It was great having all of that available to us! I also appreciated the location being secluded but also being a short drive to Suttons Bay and Traverse City to do some shopping or dining out. We even chatted with the owner, Steve, during our stay and he was so helpful and incredibly kind! We would definitely stay again!

Another wonderful West Wind experience

This cabin was wonderful and exactly as advertised, maybe better. It is well kept, comfortable, fully stocked kitchen, and of course the beautiful property can’t be beat. We can’t wait to visit again and would absolutely look to book this same cabin! Thanks, Sue and Steve!

The perfect vacation spot!

Super clean and well stocked. Anticipated our every need. Comfortable beds. Loved the lake views, fire pit and beach. Have stayed in the area for almost 50 years, but this was our first time at West Wind. Absolutely had the best time and already can't wait to come back!

Great Place!

We loved our stay! Great cottage with a solid dock for our boat. Great proximity to Traverse City but far enough out to enjoy getting away from it all.

Cozy Cottage

Everything about the cottage was just as described. The weather, unfortunately, didn’t cooperate with our fishing plans. We still managed to net a large Northern Pike, a keeper Walleye and a Master Angler Rock Bass. Sighting of the Loons made it all worthwhile for me. Some troubles with the dockside electrical outlet, fortunately, didn’t cause us any issues. Shallow water in the harbor, but we figured out how to maneuver our boat and had no problems. Thank you to our wonderful host, Steve, for backing in the boat trailer for me. Everything we needed was made available to us. Awesome vacation

Great location! Beautiful Lake

The cabin was very clean and quite rustic - but it was all that we needed. We forgot to bring linens, so we had to grab some. The location was very convenient for the activities we sought - sleeping bear dunes, Leland, Suttons Bay, and Traverse City. The owners are VERY responsive, helpful, and nice!

VERY CLEAN RENTAL

Rental was super clean, great location, well stocked, comfortable setting with fantastic views. Owners Steve & Sue easy to communicate with and prompt responding. Bed was heavily! We were the only one renting amoung the other resort rentals, but we enjoyed that. I'm sure in Summer months many people enjoy the settings. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in the great up north Leelanau area. So close to anything that one may want to explore on the peninsula. Check out Peterson Park and Christmas Cove for great beach walking and rock hunting.

Great vacation cottage

Steve and Sue- we had a great week at your place! It was clean, well maintained and had some nice amenities. Kitchen had everything we needed- which was very important as we made dinner each evening and enjoyed coffee every morning. Comfortable place to call home for the week and enjoy the sunrises and sunsets! We had a great week exploring all of the peninsula and places nearby. This was a great location. Thanks for having such a great place to offer.

Fantastic Vacation Spot

We had a great time chilling by the lake. Even though the weather was not the best, there is so much to do around the area. Wineries, restaurants, shopping or just driving around the little small town made for some awesome days. The sunsets were the absolute best. We would definitely rent again!

Family vacation up north

Had a wonderful family vacation at the cottage. Amazing lake views, clean cottage and location is great, close to Traverse City and Sutton’s Bay. Would definitely rent again from Sue and Steve!!

Fall at West Wind

We have stayed at various West Wind Resort cottages over the last 20 years, but this is our first time in Sue and Steve’s cottage. It is the most well equipped, comfortable cottage of all. Everything we could have wished for was there. The beds and furniture were comfortable. Everything was clean and well kept. We loved the fireplace which took the chill off the morning air. But the best of all...as always...is the view. We had bad weather, so spent a good amount of time in the cottage, enjoying the view in the comfort of the cabin. We hope to return next year!

Lake Leelanau Cottage with Amazing Views

Cottage #7 was exactly as it appeared in the listing. Very clean and well taken care of. The lake views did not disappoint!! So beautiful! Loved the proximity to Traverse City and Sutton’s Bay. Great wineries, breweries and restaurants nearby! Would love to stay here again!

Scenic and secluded

We had a wonderful stay at West Wind #7. The cabin was very clean, cozy and had excellent amenities. Steve and Sue were friendly and helpful hosts. The views of the lake are beautiful, and such a great location to visit many scenic spots in the area. We’ll be back!

Super clean and quaint cottage!

This is our third year vacationing at West Winds; however, this is our first time at this particular cottage. Hands down the best cottage we’ve stayed in. There was a small hiccup and Steve (Owner) called me back quickly and was able to help troubleshoot the issue. We are already trying to plan the dates for next years trip and plan on using this cottage again. Oh and the beds are super comfortable!

Sue and Steve are born and raised Michiganders. Sue grew up in the Traverse City area and Steve grew up in the Detroit area. They met at Michigan State and have three adult children all living in NC. The first 25 years of marriage was in Winston-Salem, NC and our home is now back in Michigan.

Why they chose this property

This is our home away from home. Sue grew up in the area and Steve spent many summers up North. This resort is very unique in that it is so close to Traverse City and other towns, it is also secluded and away from the traffic.
