About this property

New. Sunny West Shore Retreat at end of quiet street. Walk to Lake, Large yard.

Experience life on the West Shore at it's finest. Whether it's relaxing and enjoying the sounds of the forest or playing in Tahoe's beautiful playground, Willow Wood Cottage provides you with an excellent home base. Located at the end of the road, bordering acres of National Forest land, the property offers serenity and a beautiful private yard for play. We just relisted our property this summer after closing it during the COVID epidemic, so there are no reviews yet.

You'll find our location conducive to everything Tahoe. Hike to the beach, stroll through Ward Creek State Park, or ride the amazing mountain bike trails that run through the park and beyond- all accessible without getting into the car.
Just minutes from the beach at Hurricane Bay, West Shore Market, the Sunnyside Resort, Firesign Cafe, and the new Shadyside Lounge serving up delicious Mexican creations and unique cocktails, you'll have access to all the amenities required for your stay- all within a 1 mile radius.

For those who prefer to cook and enjoy meals at the cottage, our well-appointed kitchen with dining areas both inside and out are sure to please. An open floor plan that includes a Great Room allows everyone to gather together to take part in the cooking, or for the cook to be part of the action going on in the living room. A gas barbecue grill is located on the back patio.

Sleeping is a dream at the cottage. Away from the noise of the day, our bedrooms offer comfortable mattresses and bedding, as well as blackout curtains for those who want to sleep in Both upstairs bedrooms have private en suite baths with sumptuous towels. The Master Suite is appointed with a king bed and the Guest Suite with a queen. The downstairs bedroom is equipped with two twin beds that can be converted to a king. Let us know if that is preferred and we'll make it up accordingly. The Playroom has a new, very comfortable queen sofa sleeper and can accommodate a few children on airbeds, of which we have two.

Evenings can be enjoyed either outside or in. Both the main living area and the playroom have smart televisions with access to your streaming services. Wifi is also available throughout, as is a Sonos sound system. If you need to work remotely or just want a cozy place to write or draw, the loft above the living area includes a desk and comfortable chair.

There's something for everyone at the Willow Wood Cottage. We do everything we can to make your stay comfortable and carefree. We know you'll enjoy your stay.

About the host

Hosted by Leslie Smith

Host profile image
Tim and Leslie are retired teachers who reside in the Willow Wood Cottage for most of the year. We like to travel and have grandchildren in Colorado so have opened it up to guests when we aren't at home. We think this gives guests a more authentic Tahoe experience with all the amenities one would expect from a home that is lived in and not just a short-term rental.

We have lived on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe since 2010, but before that we lived nearby in the Sierra Foothills. With our three children we frequented the Tahoe area in all seasons for boating, biking, skiing, camping and enjoying the mountains. Both of us came to Tahoe as children with our families, and Tim spent a ski season here after college. We continue to ski, bike, paddle, and hike and our adult children and grandchildren spend as much time as they can here. Tahoe, in general, and this cottage holds special memories for us all.

Why they chose this property

We live in a quiet neighborhood with a mix of full and part time residents. We love the location- not too far from town, close to the amenities of Tahoe Park, and close to the lake.

What makes this property unique

Our property is unique in that is is located at the end of a narrow lane and backs onto a large piece of Forest Service property. It offers beautiful views in all seasons, wildlife viewing, easy hiking, biking, and x-country skiing/snowshoeing out the back door. A short walk through the woods or down the street takes you to the beach at Hurricane Bay.
