Dunneden Carriage House and Private Garden for 2 Adults

Dunneden Carriage House is located in the heart of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Leelanau County, in Glen Arbor Township just 3 miles outside of the town of Glen Arbor on a country road just far enough away from the noisy crowds for a private and peaceful getaway, but close enough to join in all the activities when desired.

The 2 story apartment is completely furnished, including linens, well appointed, air conditioned, has Wifi and premium cable TV service. The upstairs bedroom is equipped with a king size bed and bathroom with shower. Off the bedroom is a lovely balcony to enjoy morning coffee or meals during warm weather. The downstairs includes a fully stocked kitchen appliance inventory for cooking, dishwasher and gas stove. A TV room overlooks your private garden. A small charcoal grill is provided for grilling and a stocked outdoor fire pit to enjoy an evening fire. All you have to bring with you are your clothes and groceries. Coffee and tea are provided.

The Foothills Café is just a 5 minute walk from property where you can enjoy one of their famous breakfasts. If you would like a walk on the beach or watch spectacular sunsets over Lake Michigan, there is public beach access at the end of the road 3.25 miles away. Also provided for beachgoer guests are beach chairs and beach towels. If you enjoy biking the Heritage Trail, the trail crosses the road 2.5 miles from the Carriage House.

If you are new to the area a good plan is to arrive, relax with a cool beverage and peruse all the local brochures and maps provided for guests to familiarize yourselves with all the options available for your time here in Leelanau County.

This is a NO PET rental. Love pets, but this is for those allergic to them.

Check-In Time is 3:00 p.m. and Check-Out Time is 10:00 a.m.

The owner's home is located on property, but is completely separate and divided by a garage. Here to help or assist if needed, but respect the total privacy of guests.

Rules governing this rental are to be abided by and breaches will call for immediate expulsion from rental. Rules are:

1. Maximum of 2 occupants only whose names are on the rental reservation.

2. There is no parking for a recreational or commercial vehicle or watercraft on rental premises. There is room for 1 car only.

3. NO PETS ALLOWED.

Cute & Comfortable

Cute and comfortable space for a couple just outside of Glen Arbor. We found the bed to be comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the place very clean. Coffee and cream was provided so we did not have to look to buy it for our stay. Most enjoyable was the exquisite garden with lots of blooming flowers, birds, squirrels and even a tiny chipmunk. 😎

The Carriage House was exactly the perfect location for all of our "ADVENTURES" in the area.....Sleeping Bear Dunes; Frankfort; Northport. Whether exploring the beaches, hiking, biking or kayaking, the Carriage House was a welcome sight in the evenings after a fun filled day.

Dunneden Carriage House and Garden near Glen Lake and Lake Michigan

Kathy is an outstanding host. This place provides complete privacy and well thought through living space which is a large and neat and tastefully built kitchen with all dishes to cook and dishwasher, large windows open to the forest, a smaller annex with the large comfortable couch and TV with a large window with a view to a garden. I enjoyed this room as a practice place (professional violinist). There is a sound privacy as separating walls are between the living space and a garage which allows host -Kathy and guests to be undisturbed. The second floor offer a large bedroom and a desk, office station where my partner worked. The king size bed is comfortable, the shelving units, racks to unpack luggage, additional chair to sit down, essentials such as hair dryer, steamer for clothes were so helpful. Beautiful balcony, private and with a gorgeous views to amazing nature around. Garden is an extraordinary place to be, to meditate and hear sounds of nature and see hummingbirds and flowers; keenly built with a vision of an artist to use the space and create a narrative of paths within it, surrounded by points of interest, flowers, bushes and trees. Delights of this magnificent area are 2 to 20 minutes of driving away, yet privacy and comfort- literal and by distance of other houses were cherished much. Dunneden Carriage House and Gardens are an expression of Kathy, her communication of excellence and elegance of her as a person and a host. Looking forward to be back!

Comfortable base for exploring the Maple City/Traverse City area.

We traveled to Maple City for a wedding and were fortunate to find this lovely property. We were very busy with wedding related activities and didn't get to enjoy the garden and outdoor fire pit unfortunately. The indoor spaces were great - well appointed, full kitchen, large bedroom with comfortable king bed and a nice deck where we enjoyed breakfast one morning. Very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful country with lots of options for outdoor activities nearby, Great find!

Great Couples Retreat

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay. The photos didn't do justice to the upstairs bedroom or the outdoor garden. The space was clean, well-stocked, and thoughtful. It was close enough to Glen Arbor and the Sleeping Bear Dunes area.

Garden Paradise minutes from Glen Arbor

Secreted away from the ‘real’ world, five minutes from the old-school charms of Glen Arbor your first impression is that you’ve found a generous slice of perfection — and you have! Our four-night stay gave us a deep dive into an exceptional & thoughtfully curated Carriage House, with everything one could imagine needing at your fingertips. Tucked under towering trees at the edge of the woods affords not only serenity, but a deep sense of privacy. Our host was gracious and warm, and reacquainted us with all nature has to offer the adventurous and those who want to just kick back! everything you could possibly need is there – – from a chefs kitchen to luxury linens and a divinely comfortable king sized bed. The small deck off the bedroom is a choice spot for sunning, coffee or whatever you please. But the real magic lies in the magnificent gardens surrounding the carriage house. Cannot wait to return! Great location with a beautiful garden. Large bedroom upstairs with a balcony and linens were very comfortable. Full kitchen and owner had fresh flowers and iced lemon water for us. Our first time staying in the Glen Arbor area. Would definitely rent again!

Garden Tranquility

This home is the perfect respite for two. There is beautiful side garden to this Carriage House where you can read, meditate or relax by the garden pond.There is a small grill and everything you need for it; a fire pit with wood supplied. Home has a well appointed kitchen with a TV room with many channels. Large comfortable upstairs bedroom with a balcony that's perfect for morning coffee and birdwatching. Host Kathleen provides niceties that make you feel so welcome such as flowers on the table, little snacks made in Glen Arbor, tea with honey and coffee. She also provided beach towels and chairs and lovely bath towels. Information and books about the area. Rooms are spotless and organized. Great location to Glen Arbor were you can enjoy dining, shopping, kayaking, bike rentals and a winery. Close to Heritage Bike Trail, Crystal River,. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore, Glen Haven Beach/ Boat museum, and Beautiful Lake Michigan! Great Stay

Lovely private guesthouse

Beautiful outdoor gardens and rooftop patio. Quiet, very clean, well-maintained, and nicely appointed with everything you need for a home away from home near the water. Close to Glen Arbor and all of the recreational areas. Definitely recommend.

Autumn getaway

We just spent our autumn getaway weekend at this Maple City property, and were very pleased with how well it worked for us. It was very clean, very well stocked, spacious, and found it just as it had been described. It is very close to plentiful area attractions. We will keep it in mind for future trips up north!

Wonderful Maple City cottage

Very nice, quiet stay for two. Close enough to Glen Arbor for many fun places there to enjoy, but far enough away for peace and privacy. Clean and well kept. I would highly recommend this place.

Cozy Place

Very nice and clean property, closed to everything. Wonderful view from the terrace, where we enjoyed our coffee and meals, looking at the green forest and many beautiful birds. Perfect place for a couple visiting National Sleeping Bear Dunes Park.

Cozy, private, owner thought of everything

My husband and I just spent a couple of nights at The Carriage House. The place is so cute and private and we enjoyed our stay here immensely. Kate thought of everything we might need to make our stay comfortable and delightful. We so enjoyed all the extra touches and details regarding both style and comfort. The location is great--only a couple of miles from Glen Arbor. We ate breakfast both mornings at the Foothills Restaurant located just a few minutes walking distance.from the Carriage House. (closed Wednesdays).. We would love to stay here again.
