Nice cabin on the way to Tahoe

Our extended family had a wonderful time staying at the cabin in PlaVada. We found everything clean and plenty of cookware and amenities to keep us going during a major winter storm. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space. We had an enjoyable time both cooking with family and simply hanging out. Hosts were responsive and refreshingly reasonable! Plenty of activities for the kids, inside and out, we also enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. Seems like it would be a great home base in the summer as well. Thank you so much for your hospitality, we had a wonderful visit!

About the host

We are an outdoor family from the San Francisco Bay Area -- and love skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, golfing and getting the most out of the outdoors. We've been vacationing in this region for years and it's our favorite place in the world with so much to offer -- from mountains to lakes and trails, golf courses, restaurants and ski resorts.

Why they chose this property

We love the Pla-Vada neighborhood for its beauty -- it abuts the South Yuba River and backs up to forested open space. It's also close to a handful of incredible ski resorts, the beautiful Serene Lakes, Donner Lake and only 15 minutes to downtown Truckee with all of its shopping and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

This house is our family home. We use it monthly and having rented for many years - we know what rental homes need so that people can really feel comfortable and relax. Our house is really well stocked -- towels, sheets, soap, laundry detergent and our kitchen has EVERYTHING you could want from two coffee makers - one for ground coffee and one for pods, a coffee grinder, pizza cutter, great knives, plastic dishes for kids and glass dishes for adults, lots of pots and pans -- and even staples like spices and oil and salt (because those are REALLY annoying things to realize you don't have when you're trying to cook for friends and family). Our kitchen table has a removable leaf to expand for big family dinners. We also have a foosball table in the living room and TONS of board games and cards to keep you entertained. We have high-speed internet access and a new wireless TV in the living room, too. Our house also includes an office space with a desk and computer monitors. 2.5 bathrooms is ideal for large families and the upstairs bathroom has a bathtub -- which for us was a must-have for families with small kids. We have a large front deck, and 6 Adirondack chairs and a large folding table for cooking and enjoying meals outdoors. We have a large garage and a Level II EV charger installed.
